  1. I spent my weekend winery hopping in Hershey, PA with my boyfriend this past weekend and thanks to his IPHONE and an app called "Gluten Freed"...we stumbled upon Pizza Sorrento. It's around the corner from the Hershey Lodge and they office gluten free pizza's as well as pasta dishes. I got the pizza and it was great! It's so nice to be able to go out and...
  2. love her and her website. can't wait for this cookbook!!!
  3. I too have not eaten Amy's in several years. It always triggered some form of reaction for me.
  4. Thank you all!!! I've very excited about this trip but I'm also incredibly nervous. I don't usually eat out and the thought of eating out and then taking a subway with no bathrooms somewhere kinda gives me a mini anxiety attack......
  5. HAHAHA. I didn't even read my post like that. whoops!! :0) I definitely am going to look into those two restaurants. Thank you
  6. I'm going to NYC for the first time since being gluten free. I'm starting a new thread because all the old ones just go through a list of gluten free places in the city. I'd like to know where you have all gone for a fancy dinner out with my gluten-eating boyfriend. We'd like to go somewhere special
  7. i think we all understand and rely on the products that we use to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Celiac Disease is as easy or difficult as you choose to allow it to be. Is it challenging? Absolutely. Is it the end of the world? No chance. You still have many many options at Whole Foods. Their hot bar lists the items and ingredients, you can read whether...
  8. i usually just stroll in with my box of nut thins or something. i am always the person with the non-fancy purse to make sure i can carry my food most of the time, its my friends weddings and they get it anyway. I've called caterers and they've promised me a good meal and I still chicken out when I get there. No one should care if you bring in your own...
  9. the huffington post isn't really a credible news source. i don't waste my time reading it because all of their articles are generally inaccurate!!
  10. cold turkey!!! the longer you let gluten linger in your diet, the longer it will take for your body to heal itself! the sooner you eliminate the stuff from your diet, the sooner you'll start to feel better!! the withdrawal symptoms are nothing compared to the aftermath of a glutening in my opinion
  11. You certainly can't walk into a place and demand that they accommodate you. I'd be afraid of what would end up in my food as well and it's not the caterers fault that you have to pay for the event, it's the event planner. Sometimes you can contact them and explain your situation and they'll just charge you less. I've done this several times and usually...
  12. i agree. i just use foil. sometimes the crazy crap that's on the grill is more of a pain then just ripping off a piece of foil and knowing you're 100% safe!
  13. No caterer is obligated to cater to you and your food illnesses or allergies but I'll be honest with you. I don't know a good one that wouldn't want to make sure you were taken care of. I've been working in event planning in DC and Baltimore for the past few months and we are working with Classic Catering in Owings Mills right now. If you're looking for...
  14. I could get on board with the gluteny term!! my coworkers come up with every word they can involving gluten because they find it funny. "no no, you can't have this, this is gluten-laden" ha. heard that this morning. but while they poke fun.....at least they care enough to be knowledgeable about my gluten issues!! i'm not sure i can get on...
  15. also in response to some of these replies.....you can just individually decide to get your tonsils out, you obviously have to have a doctor's diagnosis. So if you have a doctor, whom you trust, telling you it's in your best interest, why would you not follow their suggestions? I was sick all the time and had these stones for years. I haven't been sick once...
  16. I had to get my tonsils out too because of these stones. It happened a few months after I got diagnosed, I had huge stones that I started to take out on my own (gross, I know) But it got so bad that I had to go get them taken out!
  17. Just curious....when has it started being called "glutenized"? Is that the new term for being glutened or is that just something that's started on this board as of recently? Maybe I'm out of the loop but I just started hearing this recently and wondered where it came from!
  18. you're wonderful! thank you! i don't know why i keep forgetting that, it's so simple.
  19. but I can't find that topic again on the board and my replies have gotten all jacked up again. how to i fix it so I can read the replies in an already open window and not all down at the bottom so I have to click on each individual reply. I'm soo sorry to all of you who have answered me before, I promise to save it this time if you help me Does anyone...
  20. 1-2-3 Gluten Free Southern Glory Biscuits are the most delicious things I've ever made. Just like a fresh normal biscuit. If you need one right now, I suggest tracking this delicious mix down stat!!
  21. SKyy and FireFly are also gluten free
  22. I HIGHLY recommend any of the local restaurants, they're so willing to work with you. I lived down in that direction for several years and just got back from a vacation down there. Try Prossers in Murrells Inlet, it's a BBQ place and the BBQ is a vinegar based, so it's safe. It's your option for sauces but if you get some BBQ to go...you can use your own...
  23. the george forman grill has gotten me through many a rough day!!! i love whole foods too. thanks for the ideas!
