  1. I've been diagnosed for 6 1/2 years....which is when it was "triggered" but I can tell you that even before that, I've never had poisin ivy or posisin oak and not for lack of trying, haha. When I was little my mom used to be terrifed because I rolled around in the stuff without knowing, never got it. I had boyfriends in high school who had it all over and...
  2. When I was first diagnosed and still not healed, I'd have a reaction within 20 minutes...but I also wasn't technically "officially" dianosed and it was long enough ago that we all still thought Rice Krispie treats were safe (they are not!) so it's not too soon. Now a reaction for me, depending on how much I injest is pretty slow.
  3. ok so whats the deal with Trix. I brought up that they were gluten free in another posting and got attacked by some folks claiming that NEVER had they heard that they were gluten free.....based on this post alebit an older comment, they at one point at least were gluten free. what's the consensus now?
  4. I eat Chex and Kix with no issues.
  5. I've always been led to believe that Cheesecake Factorys were not safe for any celiac because they refused to offer up any gluten free items. Your husband is much more daring then I ever have been in my 6 1/2 years as a Celiac...especially if I know that I have something important to do that week..you wouldn't catch me eating out anywhere! It's nice that...
  6. Just because it says that there is risk of cross contamination does not make something NOT gluten free. The ingrediants listed in Amy's allow them to claim gluten free per the FDA regulations. I do know however that many people, myself included, get sick from Amy's. I haven't eaten their products in years but they are, by nature, gluten free.
  7. Just because they're made in a facility that also processes wheat does not mean they're not gluten free by nature due to their ingrediants. Growing up in a snackfood town, I know for a fact that there is a lengthy cleaning process for the belts when they're switching products. Does that mean there isn't room for cross contamination? No way...but let's not...
  8. Heck, I had a known love for soft pretzels, hoagies and pastries before I was diagnosed. Remember, its not always something that's been detected for your whole life, especially if you're a bit older. It really didn't start to get diagnosed more frequently until about 5 or 6 years ago!
  9. My advice to you is to let it all get out of your system!! Avoid any immodium or anything because then it just lets it build in your system and its best to get that junk out!! I sip sprite and eat plain rice sometimes when my stomach is bothering me. I also use a heating pad to help ease my stomach pain. I hope it passes soon for you!!
  10. I'm leery about the snickerdoodle and the cheesecake one...as those both typically have cookie elements to them and then they tell you to avoid the normal gluten (cookie) flavors!!
  11. I've been gluten free for 6 1/2 years and I can't count how many times this has happened to me. One week, I was on a garlic bread kick...I had my Against the Grain bread, butter spread and McCormick's garlic bread powder....little did I know that had bread crumbs in it!!! Seasonings can be very tricky!! I hope you feel better
  12. This thread is from 2005!!!! We need to be careful about what type of information that we stir up because it might not be valid anymore. For example, on a thread from last May it states: "Per email: "We're happy to tell you-- all Tropicana products that are 100% juice are gluten free. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that gluten is not present in products...
  13. Normally when I hit Show new content, it shows all the new posts since the last time I"ve visited. NOw it just said no new content...is anyone else getting that?
  14. I've never had a label on my PF Changs order, is this something recent?
  15. do a google search and you'll find a ton. I liked Blue Ridge Grill, any whole foods is nice, Real Chow Baby is awesome, Rosebud, oh there are so many...you'll be confused as to which to choose!
  16. I got the bisquick in Pawleys Island, SC at a Lowes Food store...I've seen some Hamburger Helpers that were gluten free, chicken fried rice and the Asian one...are their more?
  17. You absolutely can trust it. Look up on their website for menus of places, or search gluten free. Many places have gluten free rolls for your sandwiches or burgers. You'll have to wait a long time for yours because they cook it separately and make sure you're taken care of. I've been multiple times and I work for Hershey and can honestly say that I trust...
  18. I found it at Lowes Foods in Pawleys Island, SC
  19. I subscribe but I'll be honest. I don't love it...its nice to have and I think its awesome to have our own magazine but the majority of the recipes in there are ridiculously hard, calling for like 15 different flours and stuff and I just don't have time or energy for that stuff. Some of the recipes seem awesome and then I read what all you have to do and...
  20. Buffalo Wild Wings is in Conway and you can eat a few things there. Lowes Foods (foodstore) has great gluten free sections, as does Kroger. Bovines in Murrells Inlet has gluten free options. Prossers BBQ has gluten free options. Really any seafood place can make something to your liking and will work to cater to you. There's a chic-fil-a at Surfside...
  21. I take immodium for emergency purposes but not regularly. It can really cause more damage than good if you use it regularly...that's not to say I haven't had brutal weeks where I absolutely cannot miss work or have something scheduled and have taken immodium several days straight, which I don't recommend but sometimes life gets in the way and your celiac...
  22. There are a ton. Do a search on this site and a bazillion will pop up!
  23. tons of us eat fruity and cocoa pebbles on this board with no bad reactions. I say go for it!
  24. ok yay!! so I CAN eat the meal in my freezer. Thank goodness because their stuff is delicious!!
  25. They do..but be aware, those packages of cookies have oats in them and a lot of celiacs can't have oats...myself being one of them. I was so excited that I bought the cookies without reading the ingredients properly They do sell fruit and nut bars that are gluten free and delish as well though!!
