  1. I also question the buffalo chicken wings!!
  2. It helps to have family near Hanover, PA..they sent me some bags. I think these are great but MAN are they hard to bite!! Even my dog had a tough time breaking them. Talk about a crunch to them!
  3. I actually hate being catered to with my family. I really don't like to stand out and make people change everything just for me, it makes me really uncomfortable. That being said...my family does it because they're my family. Sometimes, its not sucessful and sometimes its great but the fact that they even want to try is enough for me! It seems like your...
  4. My personal favorite is..."but it says all-purpose unbleached white flour...that's not wheat" *slaps hand to forehead* I definitely think people are nuts if they think they'll lose weight by going gluten free...I know some people DO lose weight but I mean...a lot of the way you make up for the lack of ingredients is by adding lots of sugar to...
  5. Unfortunately there's really not much to do but weather the storm...It takes several days for me to recover too. I typically stick to bland foods and water or sprite to try to keep my stomach settled. I know some people take some vitamins or some sort of upset stomach pill. I've been known to live off of immodium for several days which I absolutely don...
  6. This was definitely the first I have heard of McDonald's using dedicated fryers, but I will be the first to admit that I zoned out after the first 1082913712 pages during the initial debate I have, however, in the past when eating those evil fries, found pieces of fried chicken or bits of coating in the bottom of the fry thing...which to me tells me they...
  7. I get upset because my uneducated friends and family ask me that ANY time I'm sick....not just stomach issues..even allergies or the flu. I get annoyed because ever since I got diagnosed its always something I ate, in their mind...which isn't the case. So in this case, when they ask, my symptoms typically have nothing to do with a celiac symptom...hence...
  8. I too am one of the first people to say that it could be something non-gluten related causing a sickness, nothing has frustrated me more in my close to 7 years as a celiac than someone saying "well what did you eat" when I say I don't feel well. Its' not always about gluten...which is why I never claimed Udi's wasn't gluten free...just that something about...
  9. I like to make taco soup, buffalo chicken baked potatoes, steak, rotisserie chickens and stir fry all the time! I also love breakfast for dinner I think its easy to sneak by those gluten eaters...at least, I know it is for my gluten eater because I do all the cooking
  10. oh man. I'm definitely trying this slice of chocolate cake thing tonight!! Thanks so much for posting these! I did read in a recent headline on here something about flax not being safe for pregnant woman...does anyone know the truth to that?
  11. I'm not sure that I'd eat McDonald's fries after all the debate that has gone on with them about whether they are or aren't safe for celiacs. Depsite them testing with no levels of gluten, they're typically made in shared fryers. I know that all Chick-Fil-A's have dedicated fryers but depending on where you are in the country, it might be tough to track...
  12. Looks like we can be special little snowflakes together
  13. Wow. First off, I was not being negative. I was responding on my blackberry and was just trying to say my piece. No need to read into tones on the internet, it can really get you into a bit of a pickle, I've learned my lesson on that. I wasn't knocking anyone that has other intolerences just merely stating that it would come up, multiple times on this board...
  14. So I LOVE LOVE LOVE Against the Grain products...the baquettes, bagels and rolls are fantastic (in my opinion) but I've gotten the pizza crust twice now and both times its' seemed a little soggy after cooking. Has anyone had a similar experience? Advice?
  15. There is a thread on here that discusses this. You're not alone. You will, however, get bombarded by people on this thread telling you that you have to have another intolerence aside from gluten. I don't have any other intolerances and am just convinced that despite Udi's being a trusted gluten free company that I love...I cannot handle their products.
  16. I went to college in Lynchburg many moons ago and it was pretty brutal. Its where I was when I first got diagnosed. They now have a Chick-Fil-A and a Buffalo Wild Wings. Kroger tends to have some decent items for a grocery store but aside from that I'm not sure! Its a shame, there are some great restaurants in that area but I'd be hesitant to recommend...
  17. MSG is not necessarily a red flag in regards to gluten, just fyi!
  18. Just an addition to the Udi's drama.......my boyfriend, who is not gluten free, finished these off for me since I couldn't tolerate them and he had some pretty awful stomach issues on the same days he ate the products. Now it could be a total coincidence, or maybe we got a bad batch?? Thoughts?
  19. I agree. I find them to taste remarkable like sticks and twigs....however, if I have them, I can't seem to stop eating them even with a grossed out face, I think I like the crunch.
  20. I actually don't have any other intolerences aside from being a celiac. I've been a celiac for 6 1/2 years with no other intolerences or issues like what I've had occur with Udi's. I've eaten all of the ingrediants through other products with no issue. Perhaps its the combination of the ingrediants that gets me, I don't know but I'm not typically a super...
  21. I've been eating breakfast the same time every day for three days. I've been having emergencies the same time every day for three days. The only common factor. Udi's. I'm so broken up about it....amidst my mad dashes to the restroom at my office.
  22. Mine was triggered after double surgery 6 1/2 years ago when I was a junior in college. I was always told its a genetic dormant gene in your body that is triggered by birth or a traumatic event to your body, but I do know that something as small as an infection could start the process. It's so very odd but heck....aren't we all a little odd anyway?
  23. I'm sensitive as well but I eat these with no issue.....actually eating them right now.
  24. Wouldn't you rather they be honest then attempt to help you out and you get sick from it? I know that I would!
  25. I've had different experiences at Outback...one time it'll be great and the next I'll be sick. It might just be a case where you have to be extra cautious and communicate to the staff, in a polite friendly way. The last time that I was in a restaurant that offered a gluten free menu, there was a family sitting behind us that was also ordering gluten...
