ARCHIVED Looking For White Choc Chips And Bark To Do Some Christmas Baking.
Darn210 replied to minnowjoy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I believe the Wilton candy melts (dark choc, milk choc, & white choc) are gluten free. You should probably verify as it's been awhile since I've used them, but I have not "heard" of any changes. -

ARCHIVED Dr. Oz Show - Discusses Celiac Disease
Darn210 replied to Lisa's topic in Publications & Publicity
I've never watched Dr. Oz's show before so I don't know what a "normal" segment looks like, but the whole thing seemed rushed. I watched the whole show and it all seemed to be rushed, so I'm thinking that's just what he does. I have no real like or dislike for Elizabeth H. In general, I thought she did OK. I don't like that she gets hyped as an expert... -

You could always wear a spare part to the snowblower around your neck as jewelry . . . it will certainly catch the attention of the male population. How many men would say "hey, that's a pretty ruby necklace you have?" . . . but if you're wearing a snowblower part . . . "Hey, is that the starter handle off of a Model# 88846 Craftsman Professional 420cc ... -
ARCHIVED Bob's gluten-free Oats
Darn210 replied to SGWhiskers's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
My daughter's pediatrician wanted her to wait 6 months and have her follow-up blood work be OK so he knew we were doing well adhering to the diet. So we I patiently waited and after six months I made oatmeal cookies. I gave one to my daughter she took a couple of bites and said she didn't like them . . . . . . . . . well, she didn't react anyway ... -

Mornin' marshmallow candies Peeps, Delousing is coming along. Skeeter is a mayonaise head today (a home remedy recommended by the pediatrician until it's time for the next formal RID shampoo session). She's handling it all so well, then hubby is taking pictures of her while she was getting mayo'd. We both ripped into him!!! He thought it would be... -
ARCHIVED Can A Celiac Live In A Gluten House?
Darn210 replied to karenhockley's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
That pretty much sums it up for our household. Also, pantry is for gluten free items and cabinet contains the gluten items. My daughter knows she can have anything in the pantry and nothing from the cabinet. Items in the fridge are marked with a sharpie. I think it has worked very well for us and we've been doing it for 2 1/2 years. I also... -

Yep, we're doing this right now also. Skeeter's expander (holy crap what a difference it made in her mouth) is due to come out at her next appt . . . I have no idea when that is, though. Smakl's also got an expander and brackets and will also have to have permanent teeth pulled . . . the poor bloke got the worst of both me and me hubby's dental genes. ... -

Laundry is coming along. Googling tells me it tends to be more of a girl thang . . . what wif the long hair . . . just two girls leaning in to look at the same book wif hair touching will do it, let alone sharing a comb or brush or trying on each others headbands or barettes. Smakl rarely tries on any of his phriends headbands. -

. . . she says she likes it . . . I always thought she looked better with a bit shorter hair. The curl in her hair helps hide the choppiness. My head hurts. -

Psillies . . . a terribly unpsillie thing (at least today it is unpsillie) . . . an early Christmas present for Skeeter . . . the school nurse called and . . . someone has given her head lice. I have spent the last three hours combing through her hair (she's got very thick hair) after I cut about half of it of myself as the hair cut place would nae take... -

ARCHIVED Why Is This Such A Popular Condition For People To Self Diagnose With?
Darn210 replied to silvertail's topic in Publications & Publicity
I tend to use the term allergy when we eat out . . . everyone knows about allergies but most don't know about Celiac Disease. For the sake of speeding up the ordering process, it's just easier to say allergy. We actually say wheat allergy . . . I'm not convinced that most people even know what gluten is (and don't worry, we throw in the barley and rye... -
ARCHIVED Cookie Exchange Parties
Darn210 replied to Shess0816's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
At these sort of things, I usually don't make gluten free cookies . . . I figure that they just won't appreciate the effort (or rather expense) it takes to produce a good gluten free cookie. I go along the same lines as missy's mom and make something that already has gluten free ingredients. My current thing is the carmel chocolate chex crunch (recipe is... -

ARCHIVED 2009 Thanksgiving Disasters
Darn210 replied to Ahorsesoul's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
No disasters . . . just an eye roll . . . My dad doesn't like turkey. Neither do my kids. So while my sister baked a turkey, I fried some (gluten free) chicken strips. Dad had my brother get him a second piece. I was feeling quite proud of my chicken as Dad was going for seconds. Then I watched him shred it to pieces and feed it to his dog (from... -
