  1. I don't have Celiac, but I have had my thyroid removed in 2 stages (when I was 8 and again when I was 24) due to large nodules growing all over the gland. It was supressing its function and was inconclusive for a cancer diagnosis. It wasn't until after the pathology came back (post-op) that it was determined it wasn't cancerous. I don't know if this can...
  2. I've been buying lentils at Fred Meyer (store brand), I look at them when I rinse and have never noticed any other grains. My kids eat them like they're candy and have never had a reaction (dd is SUPER sensitive), but I will be paying more more more attention from now on!
  3. Kind of a touchy subject. I'm sorry for what you are going through right now. The one thing I know is that you cannot control what she wants, how she feels, thinks, etc... All you can do is ask for another chance. What she does with that is on her. Put your focus into living your best life, taking care of yourself, healing, becoming the man you want...
  4. I make a protein smoothie every morning for breakfast and then coffee later, I thought I'd try to combine this morning, this is what I did and it was AMAZING--much better than starbucks mocha frappaccino: You could leave out the protein powder and not affect the taste 1/2 cup skim milk 2 scoops protein powder 2 tsp instant espresso powder in 1/2 cup...
  5. It's a powder. You'd have to make it ahead of time with boiling water and put in the fridge...
  6. You can freeze what is left over in the pot if you want. I usually make a full pot and put 1/2 into a container and put in the fridge for iced coffe or blended drinks later. You can buy the instant espresso in the coffee isle, I have some, but don't use it often, I like my coffee so strong you cand stand a spoon in it If your dd likes them a little thicker...
  7. I personally make this instead of using the International Delight mixes because they are full of horrible ingredients (like hydroginated oils and stuff)--but that's just me-I even make my own vanilla creamer at home Ingredients (200 calories if using skim milk and regular chocolate syrup) 1/2 cup milk 2 tablespoons chocolate syrup 1 tablespoon...
  8. I second the vit D. I take between 2000-4000 units a day as well as a calcium/magnesium suppliment. I call them my "happy pills" I've been off antidepressants since. I would, however, suggest going to your dr for a physical and checkup and have all of the blood tests done to see what's going on--all of your blood levels, chemistry, hormones--everything...
  9. I can't answer the dog food question, but as for the cleaning products, we exclusively use Method products. They are gluten-free and non-toxic. The blue basin/tub/tile cleaner works WONDERS for sinks and tubs, LOVE the glass cleaner and the grapefruit all purpose spray for my kitchen counters. I also really like the almond wood cleaner. It smells amazing...
  10. Are you exercising? Do you know what your basal metabolic rate is? 1200 calories may be too low...
  11. Happy birthday! May God give you a desire of your heart on this special day!

  12. Awesome!! I love it too. I'm only down about 0.5# this week, but between Valentine's day and my birthday-I'll take it. Starting over on Monday ;-) My muscle tone is increasing with makes me happy. I had to quit Krav Maga (which breaks my heart) because of the back problems, so I've been running, doing pilates and weight training instead. I need to get...
  13. Not much of a help for the west side. I work at St. V's and don't know of anyone I would take my kids to. We see Dr. William Marshall at Emmanual. We live in Vancouver, but I'd drive them anywhere to see him!
  14. Make sure if you're using the recipes online that you're reducing the portions--they are for men. The women's plan has the same recipes, just smaller portions. Some of the recipes online have 600cal per portion!! Women's should be about 1/2 that. I try for 3 meals with about 350 cal each and 3 snacks of 200cal each= ~1650cal per day which is good for...
  15. I'm down 3-total, am even for this week-but my back slipped out again on Monday, so I haven't been able to work out this week at all. I can start again on the treadmill tomorrow...
  16. We go there every time we visit--We LOVE it!!
  17. I'll have to try that! Thanks!
  18. I can't help. I don't mean to sound negative, but I tried for over a month-I don't know how many recipes-to make the perfect biscuit. I found many recipes that tasted good but looked horrible and never had the light, flaky texture of a regular country-style biscuit. I've learned to embrace the ugly yet tasty gluten-free biscuits, because althought totally...
  19. I knew someone was going to ask that-went to grab the book and I left it in my gym. When I get home I will post them. Edit: Never mind, found it online: See, spells, "abs diet power" Almonds and other nuts--raw only, also pumpkin and sunflower seeds, avacados Beans and other legumes: soybeans, chickpeas, pinto, navy, kidney, lima beans...

  21. I know I wasn't actually a part of this thread, but have been reading it along the way. I've had a substantial weight loss a few years ago and thought I had all the answers-then I turned 30. Apparently that's when your metabolism begins its tank I gained 8 pounds over the last year and have been in a massive stuggle to lose 4, gain 4-over and over. I...
  22. Kraft caramels are gluten-free

  24. I use the Biochem Raw foods and whey vanilla powder religiously after my workouts (I'll even mix up the night before for the early am workouts). It tastes great too. We have a health food store here (Portland) that has individual pkts of different brands so you can try them out for a dollar or so before you spend a fortune on the canisters. It was by far...
