  1. Happy holidays David!
  2. My counters are FULL of cookies right now. My laundry is finally caught up and the house is clean. Now what the heck am I going to do for the next few days??!! I'll try to post pics of the cookies. We went outside this evening and there's about 6" of snow, 1/2" layer of ice and another 2" of snow on top of that, so my son and I are getting ready to race...
  3. Day 3, dare I say they look a little whiter, or wishfull thinking...I'll give it another few days-maybe I'll take a picture of them today and then compare next week. The only gum issues I have is some loss over my canines due to excessive brushing. 10 years ago they said I needed grafting, but had me switch to a Sonicare to see if that would help. It did...
  4. IF we can get out of our neighborhood and if I-5 clears out.....we will go to my grandmothers for Christmas Eve. Our menu is: BBQ prime rib with the trimmings Spiral Ham w/o glaze my gluten-free homemade mac and cheese baked potatoes with all the trimmings some kind of steamed veggie, probably brussle sprouts I'm bringing dessert-pumpkin gingerbread...
  5. Yes, normally a nice guy. He's one of the smartest people I've ever met in my life, he just doesn't give things a lot of thought before doing or saying-how it will affect anyone other than himself, not that he's selfish at all, just doesn't think sometimes. I'm over-emotional and he's very under-emotional. We've been married for over 10 years, we must fit...
  6. He was shivering already right before I did the skin to skin. He wasn't seizing yet, but I could tell that he wasn't far off. I managed to get the antibiotics this morning, so he's had one dose and I'm managing to keep his temp around 101. I did let him go out in the snow for a bit this morning and he had a blast, but now he's tired again. To add insult...
  7. We had a snow day yesterday, so it was my dh's turn to stay home with the kids while I braved the roads to work. I worked a 12 at the hospital and at about 6, dh called and said my 3yo son felt really warm (but was wearing 2 tshirts and a sweatshirt) and had not made it to the bathroom 3x in the last hour--he NEVER pees his pants. I asked him to remove...
  8. Day 2, used the sesame oil. Mouth feels really good, hard to explain. My voice is really horse, but that may be due to being up till 3am with a sick toddler..... I'm keeping a close eye on my teeth colors, hard to tell at this point. I made it 13 minutes today-much better than the coconut oil. I really think the stomach upset was due to the coconut oil...
  9. I buy the Pacific Foods chicken stock at Costco. There's also gravy pkts you can buy that are REALLY good--Roads End Organics, there are a few flavor varieties.
  10. We're SW WA, I know there's a lot of people here from your area though....
  11. This is the only one I could find at the health food store: Spectrum expeller pressed organic sesame oil, unrefined. Is this OK?
  12. No, I spit it in the toilet-I read that was better than the sink because of the possibility of clogging up the sink pipes.... I meant keeping the stomach acid down
  13. I've only tried to convert a yeast bread recipe once and the remnants of the "bubble over" are still cemented into the bottom of my new oven Is there a trick to doing it successfully? Any changes with the wet or dry ingredients? This pannetone is so light and airy, I have a feeling the gluten-free version will be more dense and dare I say "brick-like...
  14. I just tried my 1st panettone and I'm in love. Of course it wasn't gluten-free, but I would like to try to make one. Does anyone have a tried and true recipe? Did you use a traditional panettone pan or something else? I did search online for a recipe and found a few, but there weren't any reviews and I'd like something that's been tried... Thanks!
  15. What area are you in?
  16. I will get the sesame oil tonight, I think that will help. I think part of the problem was that my kitchen was below 60 degrees this morning and my coconut oil was hard as a rock, so it took a minute or so to chunk it around in my mouth to get it to a liquid. The volume of the oil didn't bother me that much, and it was white and frothy after 10 minutes...
  17. I tried it this morning after reading a bunch of literature last night. Like Shay said, can't hurt!! I have a horrible gag reflex, tried focusing on breathing thru my nose and did it while I was in the shower for another distration-I made it 10 minutes before I felt like I had to vomit, so I spit it out and had to use my minty toothpaste to stop the gagging...
  18. Do y'all brush your teeth with regular toothpaste afterwards or a special toothpaste?
  19. We eat both and the kids have never had a reaction. DD is very sensitive.... We don't eat the Borabora bars either. They say gluten-free on the box, but still contain oats. I don't trust anything with oats unless I make it myself.
  20. Haven't tried this one--will do!!
  21. I have tried just about every biscuit recipe out there (it seems...). I actually worked for a freakin month, determined to create the perfect, southern style gluten-free biscuit. I have come to the decision that there are a few decent gluten-free "biscuits" but nothing like the real thing. It's been the only recipe I cannot recreate-can't even come close...
  22. Oh, I understand now, hadn't had my coffee yet
  23. They have flours that may normally be gluten-free, but are processed in their regular facility, so you have to make sure and buy the flours that specifically say "gluten-free" on them. There's a picture of a piece of wheat in a red circle with a slash through it. We only buy the gluten-free flours processed in the gluten-free facility.
  24. I buy it at Trader Joes, but you can buy it from the Bob's Redmill site-without shipping if you buy the 25# bag, it's less than 5$ per pound. It is gluten-free, it's processed in their gluten-free facility. You can call them for more info on their gluten-free product line, they can send you a catalogue. (800) 349-2173. I buy 25# bags of all my other gluten...
  25. It is totally one of the most addicting things I've ever tasted!!
