ARCHIVED Can Dh Go Away On Its Own?ItchyMeredith replied to stolly's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis According to everything I have read- DH only presents in adults. Maybe it can happen. Who knows? That's just what the books say. BUT- to answer your question- YES- I had a DH episode after having my first son. I had no idea at the time what it was. I had it for a few months and then it went away without going gluten free. It came back after I had...

ARCHIVED Enterolab Results For My 3 Year Old- And VentItchyMeredith replied to ItchyMeredith's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs I never thought of soy being an issue. OMG He has been off of dairy for years due to an allergy- I cringe at the idea of adding even more to his "can't eat" list but I will do anything to keep him healthy. Poor little guy. Thank you all for your opinions. I have no idea what I am going to do. Right now he is not on gluten. My husband strongly...

I would rather feed him a plate full of bacon and fries!!!-and I'm a vegetarian! Our pediatrician sent in a referral to Dr. Michelle Pietzak at Children's Hospital today. I will talk to her about our options. I think I will keep him on gluten till I talk to her. She may not even want to go the route...

ARCHIVED Treating Dh While BreastfeedingItchyMeredith replied to jhow32000's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis With both of my children I broke out with DH terribly at 2 months postpartum. I breastfed them both. I still breastfeed my 18 month old. My dermatologist prescribed some topical steroid that started with an F. I'm sorry but I don't remember the name of it. Sadly, it didn't help me at all. How long has she been gluten free??? I was MUCH better within...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Travel To Disney Resort In AnaheimItchyMeredith replied to forhimalone's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease We had the BEST time there just yesterday. You will be able to eat out every meal if you want to. The first thing you need to do is to go to Town Hall (on the left hand side- right when you enter the park) and get a list of "celiac offerings". It tells you all the options at each restaurant for both Disneyland and California Adventure. When you choose...

ARCHIVED When To Test Asymptomatic Children Who Have A Coeliac ParentItchyMeredith replied to imagine22's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms Good question. I had no symptoms till I was 26- and DH was my only sign of celiac. We are currently working to figure out if our 3 year old has it as well. He does not have any GI issues but he has multiple food allergies, eczema, a thin frame, and dark circles under his eyes. His bloodwork came back negative but we have decided to press on and test...

ARCHIVED What Test To Ask For...ItchyMeredith replied to buffettbride's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis I went to a dermatologist and got a skin biopsy adjacent to the blister. They have to take a little bit of skin next to the rash to look for IgA deposits. The actual blister does not have the IgA so it is important to get a dermatologist who knows how to do this biopsy. Good Luck!

ARCHIVED Experienced Enterolab Users: What Are The Possible Outcomes?ItchyMeredith replied to ItchyMeredith's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms I am just hoping to find a solid answer. Is that unrealistic? I know that some of you parents of celiac kids understand. It is really hard to keep a 3 year old gluten-free. We did it for 2 months and it was a challenge whenever we were out with friends or at a playgroup or even at school. Don't get me wrong- I will do it if needed and-being gluten...

ARCHIVED Wen HaircareItchyMeredith replied to bakingbarb's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications I forgot to mention- my husband works for the company that markets Wen. He was responsible for the launch of the product. Hi- I understand that Enterolab cannot "diagnose" celiac- only gluten intolerance. Why exactly is that? I am a confirmed celiac and I am trying to figure out if my 3 year old son with negative blood work is as well. Can Enterolab help me figure this all out? Even if they say they cannot diagnose celiac- can I assume celiac if both the gene and the antibody...
