ARCHIVED The Funny Pages - Tickle Me Elbow - The Original
~alex~ replied to TriticusToxicum's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Lottery and gambling winnings are tax free in Canada (pretty much the only thing the US taxes but we don't!) so we might be able to make it into a tax free million. Depends, I guess on whether Jack sees it as something being won or just a choice that one is making. -

Sounds like you've got a budding philosopher on your hands! I don't think I could do it. It is quite perplexing to ponder. It seems ridiculous that I wouldn't do it but I don't know . . . I just don't think I could. Did Jack have a decision on what he would do? -
Thanks so much for the input everyone! I'm disappointed that the allergist didn't try the intradermal testing when the skin tests were negative since my brother has such classical allergy symptoms. Perhaps an elimination diet or food journal are in order in case there are any foods causing the symptoms. I wish there was just an easy, reliable blood test or...

Old, no! Wise, yes! I may be the only one here who's never been to a concert. I get all sweaty and anxious in large crowds. I wouldn't necessarily say that I'm claustrophobic but I like to have easy access to an exit. Wherever I go somewhere the first thing I do is look for my closest exit and then for a backup exit. Jeez, this didn't seem so weird... -
ARCHIVED Seeing Too Much 'normal Food' At The University
~alex~ replied to num1habsfan's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I don't really have a solution for you, but just a suggestion. Think about how much money you are saving! Realistically, buying lunch (food + drink) is probably going to to cost you near $10 when you factor in the jacked up prices they charge at university cafeterias. So if you buy lunch once a week in the ~32 weeks of university you spend $320. That... -

I hope you had a happy day!!! My sentiments exactly and Susie said it much more eloquently than I would be able to. -

I noticed that we have a silly birthday today . . . HAPPY BIRTHDAY PATTI!!! (I'm sorry that you're sick for your birthday ) I wish you a happy and healthy day year lifetime!!! I don't know why people always wait until a person's birthday to say these types of true things -- but you're a very kind and helpful person who has done so much... -
ARCHIVED Have To Log In Multiple Times In One Sitting
~alex~ replied to debmidge's topic in Board/Forum Technical Help
This happens to me frequently, mostly when I'm posting a long reply. I have found that if I click the Preview Post button every few minutes while I am posting I don't get kicked off. I was thinking it maybe had to do with being inactive for so many minutes and that that would basically log you off. But it sounds like it happens to people very sporadicly so... -
My brother (26 y/o) recently had skin testing for allergies and they came back all negative except a for a very mild allergy to ragweed. But the thing is he has classic allergy symptoms -- runny nose, itchy eyes/ears, postnasal drip, etc. Symptoms are worse in the summer and he has had asthma since he was a kid. I realize skin testing does nothing to test...

Boo, I'm sorry you're sick again -- not fair! I must recommend hot jello again. It just slides down so easily and kind of sticks to your throat a little bit -- surprisingly soothing. Being a mom, I'm sure you know all of these tricks already, but whenever my brother or I had uncontrollable coughing my mom or dad would turn the shower on really hot and sit... -

I know, it does seem unbelievable and I myself don't quite understand how it happened. I think I was saying "these" or something at the time and my tongue just thrust quite far out of my mouth. I had a bit of stutter as a child so I have a history of an uncooperative tongue . Or perhaps I had an unconscious desire to lick the phone -- I'm sure Freud... -

That's a perfect name! Your dad must be so proud that his grandson is a such a funny little guy. Sigh, indeed. I limit myself to one Amaretto and tea concoction a week. In university I had a friend who was diabetic and she would go out drinking quite often. She had an insulin pump and acted as if this meant she didn't need to watch what she was... -
ARCHIVED Is Sudden Onset Possible?
~alex~ replied to tricky's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi Sarah, Yes, it can definitely come on quickly. I would say mine came on over about a 2-3 week period where I went from no symptoms to constant sickness and being unable to leave the house. Depression and other mental/emotional issues can also be symptoms of celiac disease. Having type 1 diabetes makes you more at risk for Celiac than the general... -

Yes it was most definitely a T.S. inspired wake, which is actually a very good cat funeral theme even when your cat's name doesn't happen to be T.S. Eliot. My grandpa instructed both Colin and I to each pick our favoUrite poem from's T.S.'s Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats to read at the burial. At the time I had no idea that the musical Cat's was based... -

I took Mr. Snowman down because I am getting sick of winter. I intended to put something else up but never ending up doing it. My grandpa brought over some old pictures yesterday and I had a lot of fun looking through them. I decided to go with a retro-av for awhile. It's a picture of me around 3 or so with my grandpa's cat, Eliot -- T.S. Eliot actually... -

Yes much better today, thanks ! Just a little worn out with a itchy eye but my throat and stomach are pretty much back to normal. My brother is pretty much better too. My dad, grandpa, and Colin were all over this evening looking at the eclipse. I was very happy to feel well enough to enjoy their company. We've had a stressful few weeks in our family so... -

Yay, another commonwealther! I think we are on our way to outnumbering the Yanks! But really I think we all belong to a unique nation here. Our own sillyville utopia. Is anyone else seeing the lunar eclipse tonight? My dad brought over his telescope for us to look at it through. -

Oh my, all of this activity when I'm temporarily down for the count. So much has happened while I was sleeping. Very lovely and exciting Susie. If anyone deserves this happy development, you do. We are all cheering you on! I think your reaction is very natural and completely understandable. I believe I would have the exact same feelings if I were... -

Quite the mystery and intrigue. Congratulations! How exciting. Little ones are so exciting. Every time I see Ryan's newest nephew it seems that he is doing so many new things -- it's like they learn something new every day. Quite miraculous actually. yes! GO MICHELLE!!! I cannot even imagine doing what she is doing. Some kind of... -

My grandpa used to have a parakeet and he let my brother and me name him. My grandpa likes Orange Pekoe tea so we named him Pekoe and when he died we buried him with a tea bag. Sorry about your sweet boy. He's lucky to have you to love him and take care of him. The good thing about pets is they never waste their lives -- they live every day to... -

I think that it might actually be legal to spread ashes in Ontario as long as it's not in a public waterway. So the Rideau Canal is out but beyond that she can go wherever you want! (um . . . that may have been an inappropriate emoticon for the subject at hand ) Colin was up to playing a few low key Wii games today -- it totally wore him out but he... -

Yeah you were right about that. We didn't see the whole movie but I got the sense that my tastes haven't matured enough to really appreciate it. But the beach house in that movie . . . now that is my dream!!! Jaw droppingly beautiful! This amazingly sweet offer brought tears to my eyes. I sent you a PM. Something kinda silly . . . I was... -

 Definitely a bit of oddness required!!! Colin said that fact that the firing squad was our absolute favoUrite part of the show may have been an early sign that there was something a little off with the two of us. That's weird! (edit: You're not weird -- the coincidence is weird!) This movie is on TV tonight. I think I might watch it over... -

Sounds like there's a lot of sickness going around the silly thread -- we might need to be quarantined! Spent the evening with my bro and I'm exhausted but I just needed to report something kinda silly. His mood was pretty down and I was running out of things to talk to him about to keep his mind from going to bad places. So I started telling him a little... -

Your John has really had a rough time of it lately. I hope he gets better soon and stays better. Sounds like an possible allergy to the antibiotic -- good idea that he's going to get it checked out by the doc.
