  1. Here are some newspaper headlines with funny double meanings: Grandmother of eight makes hole in one Police begin campaign to run down jaywalkers Two convicts evade noose, jury hung William Kelly was fed secretary Milk drinkers are turning to powder Farmer bill dies in house Iraqi head seeks arms Is there a ring of debris around...
  2. This was is my favourite!!!!! I love these kinds of lists!!!
  3. Amanda, that sounds like a REALLY stressful situation. I'm terribly sorry that you have to go through all that. Why do there have to be so many jerks in the world?!?!?! In my limited experience, a bad boss is one thing but there's nothing worse than bad co-workers. I hope you are able to figure things out and find a new job if that's what you ultimately...
  4. I know a number of people in University who took 4 classes instead of 5 each semester so they had more time to focus on each class. It only ends up taking one more year. It's worth taking a look at that. The only caveat being that some professional schools and graduate programs require at least a couple of years with a full time course load. If you have a...
  5. Is there ayway that you could go see her for a weekend or other convenient time so that you could help her cook a bunch of gluten-free meals that she could freeze and then use as needed. Once she cooked them once with you she could probably do most of them on her own. Her moving into her own place is actually good timing because she can get all new, uncontaminated...
  6. Emily is a very nice name and I don't think it sounds old-fashioned. I was a camp leader one summer back in high school and of about 30 kids there were 4 Emily's! In my age group I always had multiple Lauras, Sarahs, Matts and Christophers. All nice names I think. I'm okay with my name except that when corresponding with someone who doesn't know me I...
  7. Painting while glutened!!! I think that qualifies you for some kind of award!!! All this talk of cuddly cats is reminding me how much I want a puppy dog. We've been thinking about getting one for a few months now but we tend to overanalyze things to the point of inaction so I'm not sure if it will happen. I grew up with a great Boarder Collie and I miss...
  8. Wow a new queen! Very exciting. I'm down with biostats and maths of all kind but I take exception to pipettes. I learned during my 4th year research project that micropipettes and I do not get along. Many a time I wanted to pelt them against the wall. P.S. -- Queen Jess, the picture of your niece is pretty much the cutest things I've ever seen! ...
  9. When I had my biopsy I think that they said my stomach was inflamed along with the intestinal inflammation and flattened villi. So I'm quite sure that gluten can also cause gastritis. It looks like you've found yourself a good GI! Good luck with your appointment.
  10. Yes!!! Soylent Green is people . . . errrr . . . smelly hockey bags! Must have been quite a shock! An intersex cat . Even though his/her sex is male, his/her gender can still be female if that is what he/she indentifies with . You and your cat could be quite progressive. Any thoughts on the new manly name? Samson comes to mind . ....
  11. So many good ideas Susie!!! I may need an apr
  12. I am asthmatic and definitely not intolerant to most things. I have Celiac and have found only a handful of other food that I may be intolerant to.I really don't think asthma would result in a false positive on the Celiac panel. At least your doc suggested cutting out wheat but you would really need to cut out all gluten sources. I think you should be...
  13. A very good idea! Is there a Crafts for Dummies book. I may need that. I may also have to ask my dad if there are any more or her houses kicking around his house so that I can smash them for more ceramic for the table. Just Kidding!!! I guess I'm starting to feel better about it!
  14. Sounds like a good idea. Everyone else seems to agree so mosaic picture frame it is. And even better than the house, I can keep it out all year round. Hehehe, don't worry I leave my outbursts of emotion for New Year's eve. I had my sappy, sentimental moment for the year. Yes, I could definitely use your help! My brother seems to have gotten...
  15. If you haven't already tried it, a simple hot water bottle helps quite a bit for me. If you need a break from the diarrhea, you might want to take some Imodium and that will probably also help with the pain/cramping for awhile.
  16. Ick, tapeworms. I think I would have to be sedated if I knew I had worms in me. Nothing quite gets to me like the thought of parasites. In grade 2 my best friend had lice and I made my parents check my hair like every hour and washed my hair with Nix even though I had been assured that I didn't have lice. Creatures living on and or in a human just makes my...
  17. My experience is basically the same as the other posts have described. I was so nervous but it ended up not being a big deal at all. I had a colonoscopy at the same time so the procedure seemed like a breeze compared to the prep. I don't remember my throat feeling numb or anything after the procedure, just a little sore/scratchy. I think you'll be pleasantly...
  18. I agree that if you have confirmed strep throat you need antibiotics. It's uncommon but untreated strep can cause kidney or heart valve damage in the future. I wasn't quite clear on your question but if you are asking about antibiotics for candida, I don't think they will help. You would need an antifungal I think.
  19. Ack, that would drive me nuts!! I hope everyone had a great New Year's Eve. We went to a party at a friend's house and had a pretty good time. I always get a bit teary eyed watching the ball drop on TV and hearing Auld Lang Syne and seeing people hugging and kissing in Time Square. Last night I was getting particularly misty and sniffly for whatever...
  20. Yes!! We finally got our tree to stand up with a combination of rope and duct tape. My dad thought it was hilarious when he saw it. Happy New Year!!! I hope 2008 is happy and healthy for everyone
  21. I hope everyone had a very happy Christmas! I had a lot of fun. I was undiagnosed last Christmas so this year was about a million times better. My fiance's sister had a baby boy, Joshua, yesterday. He is beautiful and such a Christmas blessing! Ryan's other nieces and nephew call me Auntie Alex and I can't wait until we're married and I'm officially their...
  22. HA, yeah that's a great movie. I've seen it many times and it always makes me laugh. Never Been Kissed is another good, lighthearted, funny movie. Adventures in Babysitting and Summer School are two late 80's movies that are rather simple but funny and enjoyable and the kind of movies you can watch many times.
  23. Patti, here is some confetti for your 10, 000th post! `o o o ` o `` o o ` o ` ` o o ` o o o ` o` o` o o o ` o ` ` o o ` o o o ` o ` o o ` o ` o ` o ` ` o o ` o `o ` o (confetti or a wintery mix of percipitation!) Merry Christmas Eve Everyone! I'm off to see my Dad and brother to have...
  24. Yes, a very funny movie! We watch it in the middle of summertime when we need a good laugh. I think we may need to watch it tonight. Did you catch the part where Walter's secretary is talking on the phone about declawing kittens? So sneakily funny! Cotton-headed ninny muggins . . .
  25. Boo, that sucks! My new favourite when I'm sick is warm gingerale . . . quite soothing. But the diet stuff takes on a weird taste when heated so regular is better. That and frozen Pedialyte are my saviours when glutened. I hope you feel better ASAP -- and 100% by Christmas morning.
