  1. This made me laugh so hard apple juice almost came out of my nose . . . good thing I wasn't eating linguini! He had a flat bum and a round little belly, and gas that was really quite awful and smelly He was sleepy and sad, and feeling quite lame, And I knew when I saw him it was gluten to blame!
  2. Here is a Bette Hagman pizza crust recipe that I have been meaning to but I haven't gotten around to trying it yet so I'm not sure how it works out. Ingredients: 1 cup Potato Starch 1/2 cup Cornstarch 1/2 cup Tapioca Flour 1/2 cup Milk Powder (Non-Fat Dry) 1 Tb Baking Powder 1/2 tsp Sea Salt 2 Tb Vegetable Shortening...
  3. The sillies were nestled all snug in their bed, while nightmares of gluten filled them with dread . . .
  4. I'm getting the impression that motherhood is not for the faint of heart! Kids seem to come with excrements of all kinds, huh? Not sure when I went from being a excrement-laden kid myself to thinking about having a noddle-nosed child of my own. We made a snowman today in our backyard! I put a picture in my avatar. It was great packing snow!
  5. Good thing about Canada . . . the drinking age is 19. 18 in Quebec! Many of my friends spent New Year's eve in Quebec City when they were 18 for that reason! Unfortunately she died about 6 years ago . . . but she was quite a goof -- kept us laughing all the time! Anyway . . . funny joke from my grandpa: How putting an angel a top the Christmas...
  6. Yeah, my dad is 53 . . . younger than Emily's brother if I am remembering correctly! But agree, definitely too old for anyone here ! And definitely not silly enough either . . . although many redeeming qualities to make up for that. Okay, I was sleeping until our Christmas tree fell over AGAIN and woke me up! It startled the heck out of me and now...
  7. yes, most definitely! This forum runs very smoothly and any problem that comes up is taken care of very quickly! Hats off to the moderators!
  8. You know there's always is my dad! I'm always hoping he can find someone nice. He's a tad on the stoic side but a GREAT cook. And I can vouch for his children NOT being heinous. Today I was at my Grandpa's and there was a bat in his apartment! Now, I consider myself to be pretty brave and not too much of a girly-girl but honestly I was screaming bloody...
  9. Staying hydrated is important -- getting dehydrated will definitely make you feel worse. I get a killer headache if I don't replenish all of the fluids being lost. Pedialyte is great for that. I highly recommend keeping some on hand at all times, so you have it when you need it.
  10. Yes, I'm sorry for your icky experience. Involvement of the nose in puking just adds insult to injury . . . and makes for some interesting Kleenex contents for the next couple of hours! Has anyone ever had a Christmas tree that keeps falling over?!?! We got our tree a couple of weeks ago and it falls down almost everyday! Any suggestions? This is...
  11. I did a search and I found what you may be looking for near the bottom of Open Original Shared Link
  12. Mmmmmm . . . if you have vodka and milk on hand you can make yourself a White Russian. They make an excellent night cap! I used to make one for my grandpa every night before bed when I lived with him. We have new neighbours and they seem quite nice but the husband keep calling me Lexie -- ugh!! It's a fine name but it's not MY name. I introduced myself...
  13. White tea is my tea du jour but any old tea . . . Earl Grey, Red Rose will work . The important thing is the amaretto, Disarono in particular. I highly recommend it, especially on days that involve contact with Fatheads. Pardon me for mentioning Celiac on the non-Celiac subforum but . . . today I realized that you know you have Celiac when you want...
  14. Aaaaarrrrrgggggg, I just noticed there is a plethora of grammatical errors in my last post and the edit button it NOT WORKING right now!!!! This is my biggest nightmare. I hate making public errors!! I need to go hide.
  15. Fortunately Mr. Fathead was only in my life for today. I graduated last year and promptly got sick with Celiac and then diabetes so I am just starting to look for employment now. Mr. Fathead found it preposterous that I had waited over a year to look for employment and didn't think that kind of "lack of initiative" was something he would want in an employee...
  16. Have you tried putting a humidifier in your bedroom? It might help a bit although it does seem to help nasal dryness better than lip dryness for me.
  17. Ahhh, puke . . . that is gross. I used to watch Unsolved Mysteries and there was an episode where something similar happened and it freaked me out! Nightmares for weeks. My mom didn't let me watch that show anymore after that . . . but I secretly did anyway!! I had the interview from hell today with Mr. Fathead Jerk and I sure would have liked to have...
  18. Hey Joe, It sounds like your Celiac disease came on suddenly, as was the case with me. I felt like I went from the picture of health to death's doorstep in less than a month. I too felt scared and confused and like I would never be healthy again. I had resigned myself to living in the bedroom and bathroom for the rest of my life. I was lucky to be diagnosed...

    ARCHIVED Frustrated

Thanks for all of the ideas and encouragement. I will definitely look into all of your suggestions of what has worked for you. Physical therapy does sound like something I might need to do. My doc mentioned it at one time due to the muscle atrophy I developed from months spent in bed/on the couch. At the time I was resistant to the notion that I might...
  20. Hi, I'm not familiar with the mix you are talking about but I have found that with some gluten-free recipes you have to do a bit of improvising. I usually follow the directions on the box the first time and if I think it needs some changing I try and incorporate that the next time I try the mix. I realize that is not very helpful for you right now! ...

    ARCHIVED Frustrated

I was diagnosed with Celiac about 11 months ago and in the process I lost almost 20 pounds (which I didn't need to lose) and I think a lot of what I lost was muscle mass. I was quite active before the Celiac symptoms started. I certainly wasn't a marathon runner or anything but a couple of 5 k runs a week and played in soccer and volleyball rec leagues. ...
  22. Have a great birthday!!
  23. Hooray for Serotonin -- it beats Substance P any day in my books!
  24. I felt the same way for awhile after I was diagnosed. It seemed like every small infection turned into something bigger and resulted in a stay in the hospital. A cold turned into a bad bout of pneumonia, a UTI turned into a kidney infection, etc. I think it's just so stressful for the body dealing with gluten and the deficiencies that come along with malabsorption...
  25. I can't take that song seriously after watching the movie Love Actually with Billy Mac singing Open Original Shared Link instead of love is all around!
