  1. You still had the disease, though. It's just that you didn't have reactions. You are better off knowing than not having symptoms and eating it.
  2. Lactic acid comes from the fermintation of lactose. It also can be made in other ways, too, like synthetically. I read somewhere that when you don't produce the lactase to digest lactose that the lactose turns into lactic acid in the intestines and can cause cramps, discomfort, and all that jazz.
  3. I take it if I need to but if I am staying at home for the day I won't. Fruit, toast, and bagels are what I eat on a bad day so that I won't get anymore sick.
  4. You could be more specific than hinting that their glutenfree noodles are not glutenfree. My Mom and brother just ate there and had them for the first time and LOVED them and ate lots.
  5. I only feel good about eating out at Celiac friendly places and at big support group meetings. It took me ahwle though. Good luck!
  6. Right, that's why I think all of us are born with it and then we see the symptoms.
  7. OOPS! I thought Glix was asking a person with Celiacs who does NOT stick to the diet! No, it won't imapct life span.
  8. Isn't it the symptoms which the triggers bring out?
  9. Yes, because it means you are being unhealthy and it leaves you open to more dieseases and illnesses.
  10. Yes, you can buy them at Open Original Shared Link
  11. Blood tests do not show if there is damage done to your intestines. WHENEVER gluten is eaten their will be damage done.
  12. I go to the saim hairdresser as I have for ahwile now. She actually asked me if my head redness and rashes was from wheat shampoo. I never thought about it before. I always forget to bring my own shampoo so she uses the ones with safe ingredients and tries to always wash it all out well, just in case. I usually end up re-washing it later anyway.
  13. I use the one that makes more. One makes a small pan and the other a 9 x 13. They both taste good but mroe is better, no?
  14. Good to hear you had a fun time!
  15. All your children should be tested if you have Celiacs. She sounds like me. When I was really little they said I was lactose intolerant, told us to increase my fiber, and said I just has bad nerves. If they had tested me then I wouldn't have gone through years of pain. Get her tested while she's young! In my family I was first diagnosed and ate...
  16. Go to your doctor with the results and talk about it. That is the best way to know what to do.
  17. If you notice on this board after awhile of being glutenfree people seem to start having "allergic" reactions to things. It's best to talk to your doctor because everyone reacts differently.
  18. I was reading a GA food magazine today about more fancy places with chefs and stuff. I do not know if they have gluten-free food since I just saw them today. I thought of you when reading them. They sereve meats and seafood and have seasonal menus and since they have chefs and are more on the fancy side I am sure they could prepare you something. Here...
  19. I live outside of Atlanta and don't know of any gluten-free places in GA but P.F. Changs and Outback.
  20. I was diagnosed with Celiacs and then my brother was but my Mom who had the same and even worse symptoms couldn't get a positive blood test. She didn't want a biopsy so wenton the diet and has benifited greatly from it. You don't NEED an official diagnosis unless for some insurance or something but other than that if you want to stick with the diet because...
  21. You want us to say we support this and mention celiac disease labeling? Ummm.
  22. Remember to talk to your server, the manager, and sometimes the chef about your condition. Just ordering something you know is gluten-free, like plain animals, doesn't mean that they will be careful not to crosscontaminate. They will know they are dealing with a serious issue rather than just regular food.
  23. It means that a moderator has reviewed the post and it is in the proper place.
  24. So, who knows some yummie glutenfree places to eat at? I also don't eat meat or dairy, so, if anyone knows some places that cater to that then yay! (I know I will have to remember all those places you told me, Burdee!) Thanks!
