  1. I was diagnosed my senior year of High School. I didn't move out but it was still hard to figure everything out and live with a fmaily stoill eating gluten (my Mother and my brother were diagnosed only a few months ago). There are many options for you with eating. There are some great tasting pastas! Kinnikinnick (and other brands) have some breads, rolls...
  2. You may have to start eating gluten again to have the tests done. I did blood through my normal doctor and my mom too but my brother saw a specialist for biopsy. You should talk to your regular doctor about re-taking the tests and all and decide if you need a specialist.
  3. Remember that sometimes people here get things wrong and products change. Things here that come directly form the company, like how Richard quoted them, are really the only things to trust (ubnless you know the person tellinh you it).

    ARCHIVED Health Insurance

"but if you have official results, the insurance company will see those in a medical databank. They will catch the lie." Why would your insurance company look at your blood work and all that jazz to see that you have Celiac Disease? Do they go over every test you have to see why you are being seen and what is wrong with you? I am very confused. My family...
  5. Is there a number to call about the product? that is always the best way to find out.
  6. I have problems with it, too.
  7. 1. Everyone is really different. I know my mother rushes to the bathroom after eating gluten but still has IBS symptoms and all where as my brother and I (all of us have Celiacs) don't have the IBS symptoms and such. 2. This is the same with me. Before being diagnosed I would eat chicken breasts on buns. My fav. where whole wheat ones and I'd get sick...
  8. Also, remember that Wheatfree is not always glutenfree.
  9. My Mother came up Negative. However, since my brother and I both tested positive the doctor said that she most likely had Celiacs, as well. She went on the diet and has been much better. I do think that people should be tested before trying the diet. Once tested, then should try to see if the diet helps.
  10. I have a problem with popcorn and corn on the cob and get really sick. I think it's just harder to digest.
  11. I am on winter break and Maryland and went to Whole Foods right after being picked up form the airport. Apparently, the bakery products are not going over so well her and are costing them money. I couldn't belive it when the bakery woman told me this! It's such a hit in Atlanta! They are ordering the food i requested though, so it's good to me, as long...
  12. I think I kinda undersatnd your question. I did some looking into it and milks lactic acid comes from lactose. (Open Original Shared Link) With beets, "Lactic acid is a natural preservative that inhibits putrefying bacteria," and does not come from lactose. (Open Original Shared Link)
  13. Molly is right. I use Earth Balance Natural Buttery Sticks. . .they taste yummie and work just like regular with ooking and spreading. They are gluten-free, CF, and Vegan! Ingredients -that I am typing by hand-: Expleller-Pressed Oil Blend (soybean, palm fruit, canola seed and olive oils), filtered water, pure salt, natural flavors (derived from corn...
  14. I think you are right about the too much fruit and such, maybe it's the acid. They wouldn't lie about being gluten-free, true, but it depends on their definition of gluten-free.
  15. Why not talk to her sun and husband instead of with her? They are the ones who need to know and belive about it, not her.
  16. I agree with you, kvogt! Speaking of other chips, Utz are real good.
  17. Cheers!
  18. I like their grape jam.
  19. Do you usually eat Frito-Lays products? (FormFrito-Lay) "The above products do not contain gluten nor casein; however, they are produced on the same line as our products that do contain gluten and casein. Although the lines are washed between batches, a slight residue may remain on the lines. Individuals who are extremely sensitive may be affected." ...
  20. Have you started the glutenfree diet yet? It really depends on how comfprtable you are with the results. If you feel like you want to have the biopsy to make sure, then go for it. For me, the blood positive blood test was enough. However, for my brother the postitve blood was not enough to satisfy him. He saw another doctor and had the biopsy. Good...
  21. Wow, thanks rindadas!
  22. My doctor told me to take probiotics. . .I forget the exact explanation (this was over a year and a half ago) but they are bacteria that are supossed to help your intestines and such. You should talk to your doctor and see if they could help you.
  23. AMY, if you feel the need to have another dr test you, then you should go for it. You said you felt better on the diet, that's great! It does take a long time to figure out how it all works but in the end it is worth it! From my personal experience, I was diagnosed only through blood (and that's all I needed, the diet worked wonders). . .my brother was...
  24. celiac3270! You're the one who told me it wasn't! Thanks for the answers!
  25. I do think you can tell her she can't see them. Both of you need to tell them they HAVE to be accomidating. Maybe you need to have a docotor sit down with your daughter and her grandparents to show the damage cheating can cause. Her health is very important and if they don't care to help her be healthy then something has to change. Maybe bring her own...
