  1. I personally don't usually eat at events like that. I either eat before hand or bring my own food. If I can't do either I don't mind being hungry if the event is important to me. I am sooo particular about what I eat and who makes it that I'd just rather not eat at those moments. Debbie and Jessica, you both seemed to have found the best way for you...
  2. I think that thanks to Mr. Atkins it is more acceptable to order things without buns and has opened more options for those of use who don't eat gluten. I can't rememeber hearing anything bad. . .but sometimes people ask a lot of questions.
  3. What exactly are the scrubby things?
  4. I did it with these breadcrumb things and had an awful experience. It was bad.
  5. My Mother bought me a "Wheat Sucks" shirt which I sometimes wear. My Aunt and Grandmother alos bought (different) Celaic shirts which they wear often.
  6. I am not sure but I never had it likes this before going gluten-free. . .just a little but now it's bad.
  7. At my first support group meeting I met a man with Celiacs. . .he came from a line of men who had it. So, I do not belive there is any truth that women are the gene passers.
  8. Maybe you should just try it a little. It's not that bad not having lactose. I sometimes give it up for weeks. You may feel real good without it and it'll be worth giving it up!
  9. I think pretty much everyone is diagnosed with IBS at first.
  10. Disney is one of the BEST places to be gluten-free. You should contact them now and discuss your options. From what I have been told and have read they will help you out a lot. Look for their numbers on-line. Good luck!
  11. I hope you find out what is wrong. Good luck!
  12. I get a rash and itchy scalp, too, when I use Aussie shampoo (wheat clearly labled on the back). Especially being glutenfree I am more sensitive. When I am at shows and someone spills their beer on me (and I can't go to the washroom) I get a rash on my skin, blech!
  13. I looked on Clan Thompsons site and here is something: "Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein: Gluten free: Unknown. Vegetarian: Unknown. Comments: Don't use unless it's from corn or soy." Open Original Shared Link
  14. If I ate at someones house and was told everything was gluten-free and then found it to be clearly not gluten-free then I would be mad. How dare the do that damage to you! I dont think I would trust eating at anyones house for a long time and would let them know that. Deb, when I was little, before being diagnosed (and when I still ate animals), one...
  15. About Millet. . .as far as I know it's "see how you do with it." Some people don't react well to it and others are fine with eating it. I personally don't eat it. A great company to mail-order from is Kinnikinnick. They have the best tasting products. I used to mail-order their products until a local store here startd carrying them. If you like them...
  16. Hello! Thanks for sharing your story. You're right about sticking with it and soon you will hopefully get to see life without being sick. Kristina
  17. While I was going through some of the stuff from the trip I looked at the bakery card and noticed a different website Open Original Shared Link Then I realized that the bakery had switched hands. Josephs and Josefs are at the same location but are different glutenfree bakeries; weird.
  18. I though Hydrolyzed Soybean oil was not safe? Hmmm, I try to stay away from soy anyway though.
  19. Well, I guess I could tell my diagnosis story then, too! For my whole life, since I was a baby, I was sick but not all outwardly unhealthy. My Mom felt cause for concern because each morning (from ages 5-18) I would have diarrhea. We moved around a lot when I was a kid and I had many different doctors. In each state we
  20. "I am not feeling healthy enough to take the risk of internal damage from the food, but I'll still enjoy the company" I like that part! I am not in too many situations where I have to go into detail about Celiacs but usually people who think it super odd or want to know more ask the "is it like a peanut allergy" and I always say, yes it can be. It...

    Sigh, it's all so crazy.
  22. I was in Manhattan earlier this week and wanted to share my experience of some yummie restaurants and bakeries. I hope someone benefits! My family and I (3 of us have Celiacs) got to enjoy a great meal at Risotteria. They have an amazing menu with clearly labeled glutenfree and vegetarian meals. They have signs about alos indicating that they cater...
  23. Well, how does one post a picture, not changing ones avitar? I have tried the different ways I know how to (the codes) and have had no luck. Use a photo editing program to make your own avitar. It says in your user cp the sizes allowed. Then where it says upload one of your own you browse your pc and select the one you want.
  24. I have the flakeness around my forehead and nose so bad. I used to be in the pool year round (swimming, polo, and synchro) and had some flakeyness but never as bas as when I went gluten-free. It drives me mad.
  25. 1. Do you have Celiac Disease? Yes 2. Do you have Type I Diabetes? No 3. Sex Female Good luck, Molly.
