ARCHIVED Gettysburg (pa) Gluten Free Group
Vamonos replied to Lauren M's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I visited Gettysburg last month. There is a great little coffee shop on middle st. by the name of Mom's Coffee Pot... near the court house. Went there twice for a gluten free breakfast sandwich that was delicious. They are open for breakfast and lunch. Dobson's guest house/inn/pub had steak and baked potato...no gluten-free menu to speak of but the atmosphere... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Program On Bread Machine?
Vamonos replied to kannne's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
James, I do have machine with the gluten free setting, but have also successfully made bread with a gluten-free recipe on just the white bread setting and it came out fine. You can't over work gluten free dough, supposedly. Try a search of this forum for more threads on gluten free bread baking. There is lots of great information on this site. ... -
The Bob's Red Mill Homemade Wonderful Gluten free bread mix works for me if I use 1/4 cup less milk than the suggested amount. I use the 1.5 pound loaf setting and the gluten free cycle if your machine has one. It also comes out fine in the regular white bread cycle, tho. The extra kneading won't hurt your finished product. i also realized that I liked...

My vote is for the Cuisinart convection bread maker with the gluten free setting. It's the only one I have ever used. It gets the job doneand comes with a recipe booklet for gluten free bread. I recently saw it advertised for only $79.00 for Christmas at BJ's Wholesale club.

Glad you enjoyed Jonathan's. Looks like the key is to call ahead of time. I had a mediocre experience last year but hadn't called ahead. Even after I gave the waiter the Triumph dining card and ordered a gluten free lobster casserole with out the bread crumbs, he arrives at the table with a complimentary appetizer from the chef....served on a CRACKER,...

ARCHIVED Ice Cream Cones: Any In Maine, New Hampshire, Or New Brunswick?
Vamonos replied to forester7's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Goldbaum's gluten free sugar cones are delicious. Can't believe I stumbled upon them in the Demoulas' Market Basket for only $2.50. They taste and look just like the regular gluten sugar cones. I don't know if they are widely available. I purchased them in the North Andover, MA store today. This Market Basket seemed to have a wide variety of gluten free... -

ARCHIVED Ice Cream Cones: Any In Maine, New Hampshire, Or New Brunswick?
Vamonos replied to forester7's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Matt, Do you like to cook? I forgot to mention I went crazy last year looking for cones. I think another poster on this forum mentioned making your own cones with a Pizzelle maker. I can send you the recipe if you like. I found the pizzelle maker on line at Amazon. It takes some practice but worked out well and it only takes a few ingredients. Bev -
ARCHIVED Ice Cream Cones: Any In Maine, New Hampshire, Or New Brunswick?
Vamonos replied to forester7's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Lisa, Anello's is a celiac's dream! Everything is safe to eat. We enjoyed the sandwiches on asiago rolls and the desserts...too numerous to mention. You owe it to yourself to stop in when you are feeling better. Most ice creams are safe (with the exception of things like cookie dough)...I stick with the brands that have the fewest ingredients...Breyers... -
ARCHIVED Ice Cream Cones: Any In Maine, New Hampshire, Or New Brunswick?

Matt, I am sure I saw the ice cream cones mentioned in the previous post at the health food store on Congress St in Portsmouth, NH near Tracy Anello's gluten free cafe. Bev -
Hi! My son works part time in the catering section for Sodexho at Canobie Lake Park. If you ask at the information desk, they will give you a list of all that is gluten free. Have fun!

For those in Massachusetts who have enjoyed the seafood at Woodman's of Essex, I wanted to share the news that they have expanded to Litchfield, NH as part of Mel's Funway. They have taken over the restaurant portion and will be providing all the usual fried clams, scallops etc still GLUTEN FREE. I was told they would not have lobster at this location on...

I know you posted this some time ago, but would you mind mentioning which restaurant where you enjoyed the pizza using the Against the Grain crust? I am from So. NH and work in MA. It's good to know where the mainstream places are that serve gluten-free pizza, other than Uno's. I've seen the pre-made crusts in my local health food store, but usually prepare...

Yes, it is gluten free. I use this often as a staple in my pantry for busy weeknights. Tastes great over Against the Grain rolls. Bev

I make this bread often (a version of Laurie150 on recipezaar.com). If you add 1/2 cup of any gluten-free flour (brown rice, sorghum, garfava, teff, amaranth) it should not fall.

ARCHIVED Anyone Understand Fam And Celiac?
Vamonos replied to NicoleAJ's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Nicole, Like you, when I was off the Pill I had very irregular periods. After a year of trying to conceive without luck, I tried an over the counter ovulation predictor kit. I was stunned to find out that I did not ovulate any where near where I thought I was. I also had a history of PCOS but at the time I had no idea about the Celiac portion of the... -
ARCHIVED ? Interest To Start Support Group - Noe Mass/so Nh ?
Vamonos replied to lpjourney's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Hi, My name is Bev and I would also be interested in forming a new support group. I am located in Manchester NH, but travel to MA for work. Have heard other support groups are useful for sharing resources (ie: the multitude of cook books and references that are important during those first few months) and for being able to buy in bulk to offset the... -
ARCHIVED Need Easy gluten-free/df Bread Recipe
Vamonos replied to Chrissyb's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Chrissy, I just made Gluten Free Mommy's Whole Beer Gluten Free Bread recipe and it came out fantastic and exactly as pictured on her blog. Her recipe would be easily dairy free if you substituted canola or olive oil for the butter. She gives lots of substitutions and I used a couple of my own with success. This is a delicious sandwich bread worth... -
If I understand you correctly, you were shopping for health insurance and provided a diagnosis that you gave yourself and were subsequently denied coverage? Can I ask what company you were trying to purchase a health insurance policy from? Is there any reason why you cannot obtain health insurance through an employer? Aside from stating the obvious, choosing...
