  1. Actually, diabetes is not the only possible villian here although I did read that 3 in every 47 type 1's is has celiac. Hypoglycemia is the opposite of Diabetes and you can have a tendency to run really low blood sugars which will not necessarily show on a standard fasting glucose test in the Dr's office. Doing the HA1C is a much better way to go....
  2. Jenny, I am so sorry you're having such a tough time with your family. Families can be that way even without the diet issues. I have read some really great suggestions from our friends here. I don't recall seeing that you can't do dairy. Have you tried making a crustless quiche from eggs, milk, cheese, ham, and spinach? I have only been at this...
  3. I have been self-diagnosised for a little over two weeks and in that time I have gleaned a lot of useful information from this board. I have also discovered that my Father, Grandfather, and most possibly my middle daughter all have this too. I have a 3 year old grandson who over the past 4 months has had sores primarily on is legs, forearms and some on...
  4. I have this too only the belching starts as soon as I put anything in my stomach including water. Seems to be more of a problem when I'm sitting and is even worse and more persistent after I've been glutened. I bought some papaya enzyme (gluten free) today and some gas x to try. Hope this works. I have been gluten-free for a little over two weeks now...
  5. Well my biggest 'tell' is the terrible pain in the pit of my abdomen about 1/2 after eating the offender so it's probably a little easier for me to pin it down if it is something new in the diet that I've never had before and nothing else is suspect. I would be interested to know what grains you cook for breakfast. Brown rice is good but I can see where...
  6. LOL! That's so funny. Always good to laugh. I think I got 'glutenized' today on a gluten-free product. Bob's Red Mill Mighty Tasty Hot Cereal. Have been gluten free for two weeks and was feeling much better and got whammied by Dannon yogurt on Tuesday but was again feeling pretty good by this a.m. and then I ate the cereal for the first time and had...
  7. If you have cable or dish t.v., the Cooking Network is amazing! Wouldn't it be great if they could devote a time slot to cooking gluten/lactose free?
  8. I am amazed at how many people do this! I first did this when I was pregnant with my last child 12 years ago. I am a type 1 diabetic and the sugar issues really kick in when I am pregnant. My children are 27, 22, and 12 so there is an age span here. Anyway, I would crave Burger King whoppers and mint ice cream so bad that I would buy them and make the...
  9. nzgirl: watch out for Dannon flavored yogurt. I got 'glutenized' today after being gluten-free for two weeks and my stomach is killing me. Yogurt did not list gluten on the label but does list it in the website. Discovered this after eating it for breakfast and now I am living your nightmare! Rox
  10. Violet! I laughed when I saw this thread. I have been gluten free for about 2 weeks now... One of the freakiest things to happen to me since going off of gluten is the bizarre dreams that I have had every night. Have not dreamed or remembered my dreams for years and have always been a very restless sleeper. I can actually say that even with the dreams...
  11. I'm just curious. I have been gluten free for the past two weeks and after years of barely ever remembering dreaming at all, I have had really weird and vivid dreams and nightmares for the past week or so. It seems like I read somewhere here that someone else was having a similar experience but I can't find the post now. Are there others who have...
  12. I too am self-diagnosed and just in the past 2 weeks. Suffered through almost all of the symptoms I have seen here and had just started testing with ultrasound, and CAT, which both came back showing nothing and the Dr. mentioned a possibility of Sprue which sent me searching and I found this great place here and in turn, I think, the answer to my problems...
  13. Hathor said: "I always wonder if UPS has any idea what they are transporting. I mean this isn't a tiny little smear ... it is an entire BM. Someone on another thread mentioned that Enterolab maintains the samples for six months also. The mind boggles. I assume they have extensive refrigeration facilities and some back up power " Too funny! I...
  14. Wow! First I would like to thank all of you who responded for having the patience to read what I wrote. I did not realize it was soooo long. Guess I was on a roll. Secondly, I was so overwhelmed at what you all shared with me. These symptoms that I have had for years....and there are others...and I am not alone...and I finally have answers! I don...
  15. Hi everyone. I'm new to the sight and want to say what a God send it is and how much it has helped me already just by knowing that there are many people in the world with similar symptoms who have struggled with finding the answers. It makes you feel not quite so alone. Honestly, I am feeling like my Dr., who prior to this stuff I think had much respect...
  16. Hi Woodric, I'm new to the board as of today and although I have not suffered too many bouts with the extreme pain that you describe, many of your symptoms are ringing bells. I have had the dull constant pain in my 'gut' for years! Can even remember having it as a child. I am a type one diabetic and also have depression problems. The diabetes and the...
