  1. BG (Beyond Grain) makes gluten-free cat food. There is another one called "Blue" or something like that. My cat did much better on BG food than regular cat food. Until the possum ate her anyway. L,J, sorry about the dates. That means Lara bars are a problem too then since they are mostly dates. Guess you don't want to know that someone posted...
  2. Just eating rice and white potatoes is not good, as I am sure you know. They are mostly carbs and turn to sugars very quickly in the GI system. All that sugar is great news for the bacteria in your gut who want to have a big sugar rush / freakout party. Party hardy. You may be able to eat sweet potatoes instead, and they would be better for you than...
  3. Yep, one positive blood test is all it takes.
  4. You could eliminate all dairy for a month and see if it makes a difference. Total elimination is a good test.
  5. Beer helps attract the fleas. Probably anything sweet or fragrant would work. Or even a nice bowl of red hot blood would work great, since that's what they eat. Yes, that's right, they eat blood! Purfect for Halloween! Thousands of little blood eaters swarming around the place. All of them attracted to your night time reading light. Eww. Open Original...
  6. HI, Sometimes doctors only test for IgA antibodies at first. If that is positive then they do the full celiac panel. you could go ahead and get the full celiac panel. Especially since you don't have obvious symptoms. You can get the celiac panel now and keep the results. Then in 6 months or a year you can get another celiac panel run to check your...
  7. Your doctor should test you for the antibodies to gliaden, the protein in wheat that causes celiac reactions. Open Original Shared Link EMA (Immunoglobulin A anti-endomysium antibodies)AGA (IgA anti-gliadin antibodies) Some people do not produce IgA antibodies.DGP (Deamidated gliadin peptide antibody)tTGA (IgA anti-tissue transglutaminase)
  8. Lady bugs have been very numerous in the East the last few years also. And stink bugs. Many bugs are attracted to lights at night, just like moths. So leaving a light on isa good idea if it draws them into a trap. They make sticky glue fly strips you can hang from a ceiling also. Maybe a light and a few of the glue strips would do the trick. For fleas...
  9. Lots of Pepto Bismol and aspirin. Charcoal capsules may help too. And plenty of water.
  10. HI B, Sounds like you are aiming for grain-free, but not flour free? That's fine, going grain-free is a good way to start gluten-free. Eating whole foods instead of processed foods is also good. Quinoa or buckwheat are also good alternatives to grains. But make sure you get gluten-free brands. Cross-contamination (CC) is possible in the alternative...
  11. Thanks for the update K! I haven't had kidney issues myself, but it sounds like you are doing better eh? That's good to hear!
  12. Hi L. J, I don't think you need to avoid all salt. It's the iodized salts that are a problem. Those are usually marked with a "iodized" on the label. Sea salt may not be good either, but any other non-iodized salt would be ok, I think. Squirmy or someone with DH would know better than me tho. How about meats? Can you eat chicken, beef etc?...
  13. Alkaloids in nightshades are a possible problem.
  14. Hi Kiki, The immune system reaction doesn't stop after a few hours. It will keep going as long as you are eating gluten. Your symptoms may vary during the challenge, getting better or worse at times. If you are eating gluten every day for the challenge, your reactions each day are kind of unpredictable. It is possible they will get progressively stronger...
  15. Hi L.J., You can try anything you want of course. The reason I suggest to people to avoid sugar and carbs at first is because the bacteria in our guts can get kind of out of control with the celiac damage and poor digestion issues. That bacterial overgrowth party often leads to bloating and D. Not fun stuff with a damaged gut that is irritated and...
  16. Bummer. I'd be hitting the Pepto pretty hard myself, maybe every couple hours. Aspirin too. The charcoal capsules and nettle tea sound like a good idea to me.
  17. OK, the righty-tighty, left-loosey convo got buried by extraneous posting b4 I could add mine, way back there. *********** You responded as a right brained person to 15 questions, and you responded as a left brained person to 4 questions. According to the Hemispheric Dominance test, you use your right brain the most. *********** ...
  18. How about mayo and mustard? Might work ok.
  19. Sorry you aren't feeling well. Many people with untreated celiac have vitamin and mineral deficienices at first. Has your doctor tested you for them? A, B, D, K Iron, and magnesium?
  20. Welcome to the site GFinAus. Hey nice ring to your user name there! I hope you find plenty of info and support for your gluten-free journey here.
  21. Wow L.J, you sure know who to make eating avcadoes exciting! That was a big deal for sure. Good thing you had hubs to drag you off your throne and plant you back in reality. Farty-pants it is then, but I may have to reverse that. My initials are PF, so FP is just PF backwards. K, hold your nose, here it comes! You and Bartfull are safe though, mainly...
  22. Hi Nicky, The celiac antibody tests are pretty reliable when they show a positive, but some of them are not so reliable when they show a negative result. So even if you get a negative blood test, it is good to try the gluten-free diet and see if it helps your situation. Some links below that may fill up your reading hours for a bit. Some starting...
  23. Agree 100%. Hashimoto's thyroiditis is associated with celiac disease also. They are both autoimmune diseases. IMHO they (doctors) should test anyone with Hashimoto's for celiac disease. But they don't. Some starting the gluten-free diet tips for the first 6 months: Get tested before starting the gluten-free diet. Get your vitamin/mineral levels...
  24. Hi, C is definitely possible with celiac disease. Doctors don't live with it and know the symptoms like people on this board do. For H.Pylori he can try mastic gum and DGL (deglysterinzed licorice). Those worked for me. Betaine HCL is also helpful. Solgar and Vitamin Shoppe brands are ok for pro-biotics. Jarrow also makes some. Digestive enzymes...
  25. Hi, When you were gluten-free for 2 months, what did you eat? Did you eat whole foods or processed foods? Did you get a new toaster and new colander? Did you replace your wooden and plastic bowls and utensils with new ones? Did you verify your meds and vitamins and coffee and tea etc were gluten-free? Did you kiss gluten eaters without them brushing...
