  1. Wish I could help, but we go to Nevada North Shore and I have yet to find a good place in Incline Village to eat out. We cook in with all the summer strawberries and aparagus, seafood weekends (every other weekend) from Costco (shrimp, scallops, crab), fresh Atlantic or Alaskan salmon from Village Market, it is a veritable feast. This year I shall order...
  2. I became intolerant to citric acid when I started consuming too much citrus--flavoring everything with lemon juice, drinking citrus with Bacardi for a rum punch , it was citrus season here so lots of oranges and mandarins and suddenly I was itching all over. Laid off the citrus and it started getting better, then--after the loooong flight from Auckland...

Sometimes both, if I forget where I am However, mostly it's the tourists who drive on the wrong (right) side. I scared the cr*p out of meselph and another guy the other day when I pulled out on this little country road, on the *right* (wrong) side and was tottling merrily along until I saw this car coming toward me and was about to call home to tell...

I don't think so. Add that to your list for your doc. She probably doesn't know how all these symptoms are linked but if she did a quick google of symptoms of celiac diseae she would come across a lot of them. If she gives you any guff, you might suggest she do that??? Or is that just me being my usual Aries bossy self?? I don't know, but I think that...
  6. Sheep's wool isn't that bad We wear it on our bodies, why not put it in??? I know what you mean about the label reading. I was initially so busy looking for gluten that I didn't even notice that half the things I was choosing had soy, until I had to eliminate soy. And on, and on and on. Finally, I thought the citric acid would be fairly easy, but...
  7. I was very disappointed when I finally got to the U.S. looking for these individual serving items that they all (at least the ones I looked at) contained soy Even the salad dressings had soy bean oil. It was a major blow!

On the right-hand side just about the blue "Start a New Topic" you will see "View new content". Or depending on which page you are on it will be above "Recently Added Topics" which is also in a blue box.
  9. Yes, it is always a good idea to go to the doctor with a list of things. Otherwise they divert you off on to their own tangential thinking and you lose track of where you were going. With a list you can bring them back by saying, "Yes, but what about_________ which is what I came to see you for". It would also be a good way to talk to your mom. Invite...
  10. Do you have or can you get a copy of your previous blood work to post here, assuming it was a celiac panel that they did, i.e. Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgA Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgG Anti-Endomysial (EMA) IgA Anti-Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) IgA Total Serum IgA If this is what you had done post the results with the ranges the lab uses so we can have a...
  11. WELL!!! Forevvins sake, who would have ever thought of looking for it there?????? Way up in the righthand corner, off the screen most of the time.... but there, nevertheless  Okay, you can get rid of me now.
  12. Come on, all you Moderator peeples, come kleen. Did Skaught do this all on his own with no input from any of youse at all???? Did ye not discuss it at all in your little secret forum down the bottom there??
  13. Boy, I wish I could be the positive one for food away from home, but 'fraid not. Most people don't understand that gluten free is just the initial triage. Once you get to the soy, corn, tomato, citric acid and potato they just throw up their hands and you say, oh hell, why bother? Isn't there something you haven't gussied up in some way?? Just give me...

Well, it looks like I am going to be logged in here for the rest of my life--and beyond I have no way to log out (or in, if I weren't already "in") You guys are stuck with me!!! There is no log-in feature on my screen, no name bar showing I am here, and retyping the URL and coming in through the front door instead of the back doesn't change anything...
  15. Amen to that. A lack of diagnosis of celiac disease means diddly squat if you are intolerant of gluten.
  16. Hi, Hyper Girl. Sorry no one responded to your previous post. Welcome to the forum. Of course no one can tell from a forum post whether or not you have celiac disease or gluten intolerance. There are certainly many of your symptoms which would point in that direction, and with a mother diagnosed with IBS and never tested, it is possibly one or the other...
  17. There's no list that I know of. Mostly you just pick them up from context. BIL, SIL, MIL, brother, sister and mother in law. Ds, dd, dh, dear son, daughter, husband. IMHO, IMO in my (humble) opinion. Cc'd is cross-contaminated with gluten. Most of the medical ones you can look up, RA for rheumatoid arthritis, SLE for lupus, etc. You'll soon "get" it...
  18. Do any of your hobbies have an active group that meets, that you could join? Is there a book club you could join? That forces you to read the book and then get together with a group and discuss it. Is there a "safe" place for you where you feel comfortable, like a weekend visit to mom, sister, someone supportive, to help get you over the hump, because...

I am wondering what this "Reputation" thingy is, and why I don't have one And who says I'm neutral? I can be quite radical if provoked P.S. And the edit button is there, Purple. I just added this postscript.
  22. Did you know you had a problem with nightshades before going gluten free? I think for most of us we only find out after we get the gluten out of our systems, and then some, like me, take longer to figure it out...
  23. Cross-contamination, as you will find, is when your gluten free food picks up a small amount of gluten from some incidental source--like a knife with a gluten crumb on it dipped into the butter or jam or peanut butter, or somone using a spoon from a dish containing gluten to help themselves to a serving from a gluten free dish. It can also occur through...
  24. Down here, there is an official designation of "old girl."!! Once you have graduated from an all-female high school (yes, we have them even in the public system), you are officially designated as being an "old girl", (that's what the school organization for those who have left the school is called--the XYZ Old Girls Association) and it doesn't matter how...
