  1. I really can't handle any soy at all; I run a mile from it And as you say, it is pretty pervasive, darn it.
  2. I can't handle soy in any of it's forms--and you're right, it seems like it is in everything
  3. Any translation for "Sure Jell"??
  4. Zgesic does not list any gluten in its formulation. But any pharmacist who is willing to get off his **** can check and tell you whether there is any gluten in a medication. Edit: Just checked azithromycin and it is gluten free. Hope you're feeling better soon.
  5. I am assuming you're not bothered by soy or corn. If not, the anti-caking agent could be the problem--who knows what that is!!! Natural flavors and anti-caking agents are always likely culprits, but Basco is supposed to be okay. I have tried some of their mixes myself. Don't know.
  6. Yeah, optimum wellness is definitely not their goal for us. They seem to want us to have something major, something tragic that they can really get their teeth into Besides, it's a lot easier to diagnose!
  7. Hello bunnybaby, and welcome to the forum. You are right, there is waaay too much stuff here to be able to read it all! Just pick and choose the most relevant topics for now, and happy reading. Pipe up with any questions as they arise.
  8. Hi Nicole, and welcome to the forum. When I first went gluten free I went really easy on the supplements, because I found that a lot of them bothered me. I would only take one at a time, and if that one was okay I would try adding another after a week or so. When you add in a whole bunch of stuff st once you can't tell what is bothering you. The most...
  9. My bloating was intermittent initially, following consumption of certain foods (on reflection), but gradually became constant making it difficult to force myself to eat because there was no room for food in there And I couldn't sleep because the bloating caused a pounding, racing heart and if I did get to sleep I had terrible nightmares. I have had this...
  10. Do you know if your doctor ordered the full celiac panel of blood tests? If so, get a copy of the results and post them on here, including the reference ranges. Answer to question 1: No, as far as I know this is totally false. Answer to question 2: Not within my experience. I have psoriasis, not eczema. However, most of my family have symptoms...
  11. Initially bloating was my only (major) symptom, along with occasional diarrhea, which I guess was why I was able to tolerate it for so long, even though the bloating was so bad to make me pass out sometimes. GasEx was my friend. It was not until I developed the rheumatoid arthritis and the psoriasis that I woke up to gluten. I had thought it was corn that...
  12. If you were mostly gluten free at the time of your tests that would definitely affect your results. The folks here say you need to be eating 2 slices of bread or equivalent every day for 2-3 months for a valid test. If not eating gluten makes you feel better, and eating it makes you feel worse, I think you have your answer. There are those of us for whom...
  13. Yes, they can get away with not labelling gluten on vitamins. They are not considered to be a food, even though you ingest them like a food and as a food supplement. They come under different regulations. It is always best to check with the company, or with a prescribed medication have the pharmacist check for gluten content. The labelling for drugs and...
  14. Wow, you are having a really tough time of it. I would listen to the ER doc, and get myself a new cardiologist if that is possible. Take your ER records to him and ask for a re-evaluation. Tell him about your new symptoms. Keep the pulmonology appointment because it sounds to me like you do have problems with your lungs. That's the way I was when I had...
  15. Unfortunately, peppers are nightshades too
  16. They don't sell canned pumpkin here, it's a from scratch task. I guess they think it is just too American!!
  17. I tried the sublingual B12 because I suspected I was deficient, but had a reaction to something in it. I then had to convince my PCP that I was deficient. I was low normal in September, 10 mos after going gluten free. Just had it rechecked and both my B12 and folate levels have dropped since Sept., B12 barely normal and folate now below, so I am finally...
  18. Sounds like a description of my head, only I have psoriasis. I would take her to a dermatologist for help. All I know is that nothing helps my head, unfortunately. I have white scales like an albino alligator that flake off and fall around me so that I look like a white Pigpen in Peanuts, because I have to scrape them off or they drive me crazy I have...
  19. I had three bananas in varying stages of over-ripeness. Fortunately I only had to use two because the third was a very gooey mess I would have used it if I had to though
  20. My flour mix doesn't have any xanthum gum in it and it holds together just fine. (I think that's what the gum is for; in this case the eggs are a binder)
  21. Yeah, like malt vinegar This is a real British idiosyncrasy. But then don't get me started on ketchup and chips!!
  22. I think you are spot on in your conclusion. While any glutening doesn't help, it doesn't set you back to square one. It just makes you more aware of how careful you are going to have to be. Sail on, no penalty!
  23. Ok, so I should have read this first. My first tray turned out like joined together pancakes which didn't bubble, even though I put the dough in the fridge overnight, so I added more flour (about 1/4 cup) and some more baking powder in case mine was a bit stale, and some more spice for...well, you know, more spice!!! Next two trays came out fine, but I...
  24. You can't sell it here either. When we left the farm and our own cows and moved to the city I stopped drinking milk, not recognising that pasteurised, homogenised muck as the same product that came from our cows. You can't even buy fresh milk today!!!(with a couple of very limited exceptions); it is all reconstituted from powder, New Zealand being one of...
  25. I will have to twist the arms of the food importers to bring these in down here (postage from the US would be horrendous, and now the airlines are limiting our baggage...this must be directed especially at me ) Seems like things get more difficult all the time with all the "timesavers" all the thoughtful folks invented for our food convenience and to keep...
