  1. Rachelle, such wonderful news that you are happy, and have found (or refound) your soul mate. Loey, get RID of that pneumonia,, and get strong and well (like I am trying to )
  2. To me too, please. The last two chapters, where you have to tie the whole book together - I can see why you would need a clear head
  3. The DGP is pretty specific for celiac disease. I would say the chances he has it are about 99%
  4. Bexxa.in some unlucky individuals the gluten also attacks the nervous system. It can cause gluten ataxia and other neurological impairments, anxiety, confusion, brain fog, memory issues. It can also, as I can personally testify, affect your heart rate. I have suffered for many years with sudden tachycardia and atrial fibrillation which I Knew was coming...
  5. I went into Whole Foods today!!!! (yay) for the first time this summer (well, fall now!) and was so thrilled to find their frozen pie crusts (couldn't find those last year) so I am busily planning what kinds of pies I am going to make. Did not look at all the other goodies, because I already have a sin.... I found some gluten free root beer, and rediscovered...
  6. Bexxa, you have sure been through a rough time with food It must be hard for you to look at food and not feel like it is your enemy. I am glad you are one strong gal (yay!!!) and were able to overcome your eating disorder. The celiac thing is a low blow after that Yeah, everyone always tells you a bunch of stuff which is wrong, and in the end listening...
  7. It's okay to post a link to your own content, as long as it is on your profile page, not in the body of the forum. Give that a try.
  8. Most eshpeshially when Jess is posting
  9. It is quite possible that if you used your same utensils and same bread pan that you cross-contaminated your gluten free loaf with gluten crumbs which are very hard to get rid of. Porous utensils (think wooden and plastic), cutting boards, etc., can all harbor gluten.
  10. So long as any gluten is being ingested, the autoimmune response is being triggered. How much damage it does to your body is not quantifiable, but it is not worth the risk.
  11. Welcome back, Rayshelle :D We've missed you too.
  12. But your Majesty, you just got there. Is there a pea under your cushion, perhaps? And really, we are on page two already. You are hardly languishing ignored
  13. Hello, and welcome. Unfortunately, failure to diagnose early is all too common in celiac. Some of us don't get a formal diagnosis at all, we just diagnose ourselves because we seem to be the only people capable of recognizing, finally, what is happening to our bodies. I am so sorry that this has happened to you to. To answer your questions, there...
  14. You wouldn't want one from someone who had celiac - it would probably get all constipated, or else it would E X P L O D E ! ! ! !
  15. As long as we don't all have to get poop transplants
  16. I read a book by Kate Atkinson at the beginning of summer - When will there be Good News: - which I really enjoyed.
  17. I wouldn't want to sit up there on the throne..... with everyone looking at my ankles Oh no, not me I would need a gown in an extra looooonng.
  18. If the sticky rice is a processed rice powder, and not a whole grain product, then all bets are off. There is no way of knowing what happens to something when it is processed. We often talk here of "a facility in which gluten is processed" or "using the same lines as" gluten products (even though the lines are cleaned between runs. U.S. labelling laws...
  19. No, No, it doesn't work like that. One has to abdicate and then the next in line gets to take over. But I believe protocol allows you to abdicate IN FAVOR OF someone???
  20. Well, I DIDN'T believe any of the fibromyalgia, IBS, mental problem BS, but I didn't know what TO believe. I just kept telling hubs I felt 'toxic'. I was right.
  21. You also need a full nutrient panel, for vitamins and minerals - like A, B's (especially B12) D, E, K, potassium, calcium, zinc,ferritin/iron, etc. since gluten can cause depletion of your nutrient levels which leads to other problems. Glad he is doing thyroid. Well, I see he is doing electrolytes which covers a lot of the minerals. When you get those...
  22. While it takes a long time to fully heal from the effects of gluten, healing does begin to take place as soon as it is withdrawn. Depending on how much damage you have in your intestine, that might be just enough to take you out of the positive category on the lab results. It is recommended that you keep eating a normal gluten diet. The six days so far...
  23. I would caution you that if your tests come back positive for celiac they will probably want to do an endoscopy with biopsy to confirm the diagnosis. For this test you should still be eating gluten or you risk a false negative on the biopsy, especially if you have to wait a week or two for it.
  24. I guess you are stuck until your repeat endoscopy to see if the inflammation has cleared up, or not!!
