I watched it once, they put bleach on cotton balls and then stuffed them into that little ledge thingy where your bathtub meets the tile to get rid of mold, I do that now, it works great.

He can have hershey's bars, Mr. Goodbar's, Almond Joys, Mounds, and I believe Snickers, but you will want to check everything out first, just like you would everything else. ARCHIVED Trying gluten-free Diet In My Family
Smunkeemom replied to acousticmom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I am going to say 6 months, since like nini said it could take you a while to get all the bugs out of eating gluten free. You could tell a difference sooner, but stay on it for at least 6 months just in case you are a slow healer. -

ARCHIVED Gallbladder Removal Recommended
Smunkeemom replied to a topic in Related Issues & Disorders
after talking to my husband he reminded me that I did have some pain the day after from the gas bubbles re-absorbing, I don't remember it, but he said that I put a heating pad on my tummy for a while and it was better. I do know that the day of, I slept a lot. I didn't need the pain pills they sent home, though. -
ARCHIVED Gallbladder Removal Recommended
Smunkeemom replied to a topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I had mine removed last June. It had just quit working for no reason whatsoever. I had the lapriscopic surgery done, I got to go home the same day and the next day I was back to normal activity. It didn't hurt too bad. *although I should mention that when I had my c-sections I was back to normal activity minus heavy lifting like the same day, so my... -
ARCHIVED Mental Laws Or Mental Health
Smunkeemom replied to Claire's topic in Publications & Publicity
it really is true. My husband and I were talking the other day about how people are unhealthy and overweight and depressed all the time now, and most of them eat gluten for breakfast lunch and dinner. You can tell when my girls get glutened, the first thing that happens to them is emotional symptoms, they are like different kids all together. -

Smunkeemom replied to lipreader's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My youngest was diagnosed at 12 months, she could eat a lot of the jarred Gerber baby foods, she enjoyed rice cereal, and Mi-Del animal crackers. Also she ate mashed potatoes, apple sauce, yogurt, and bananas. Amy's makes some really good gluten free microwave mac and cheese. -
It has occured to me recently that there are a lot of pretty intelligent people on here. I thought maybe everyone could share a hint or two that may make someone else's life a little easier. me first * in addition to your emergency kit in the car (you know the one with bottled water, jumper cables, a blanket, ect.) every woman should have an...

I like to bake a dozen or so cupcakes and freeze them (individually) then if a friend's b-day sneeks up on us we have a serving of gluten-free cake ready and then we just frost it that day, the girls like to pick out what color they use (food coloring) I will try that recipe thanks. I am going to have to go with diabetes too, you should have them do a glucose test (they aren't that bad, drink some stuff check blood sugar, wait an hour, check blood sugar, eat lunch, check blood sugar) I read somewhere that celiac disease and type 1 diabetes are related or something like that, like if you have celiac you are more likely to get diabetes... -

Smunkeemom replied to averyevansmom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
When my 2 year old was new to the diet, I took her out to eat, I made sure everything on her plate was gluten free, real eggs, fresh fruit, cottage cheese........I forgot to check her chocolate milk though, she was halfway through the second glass when my husband picked up the little carton to look at it, and in bold letters it said MALT, I felt so bad -
ARCHIVED Gluten-free Diapers And Wipes
Smunkeemom replied to kempy99's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
hey, I have asked some really really dumb questions on here before, your question actually made sense and was something that it made sense to be worried about, don't feel bad. I still don't feel bad when I ask crazy celiac questions, you gotta learn somehow, and where else would I ask? -
ARCHIVED Gluten-free Crackers
Smunkeemom replied to a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My girls eat the nut-thins with meat and cheese (kinda like lunchables) and then the Ener-G crackers either plain or with peanut butter. I use the Ener-G in cooking too and they work fine for meatloafs and also like in soups and chili. They are unsalted though. -

ARCHIVED Gluten Accident At School On Friday
Smunkeemom replied to e&j0304's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I homeschool my children, mostly because I don't like the schools in the area, but the fact that they weren't sticking to the gluten free diet was just the icing on the gluten free cake....LOL you can PM me if you have any questions. I have a lot of friends who homeschool, we belong to a co-op, and a few other "social groups". I personally am unschooling... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Accident At School On Friday
Smunkeemom replied to e&j0304's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
At church there is the rule of "Don't feed Joey's kids anything!" which the more regular teachers interpret as anything unless I brought it for them, but the sub.s just read "don't feed anything" and it keeps my kids out of a lot of trouble. My 2 year old has been gluten free since May of 2004, so she pretty much has the diet down pat, she will tell you...
