  1. Someone else on this board, can't remember who, always adds a small pkg. (3 oz?) of cream cheese to Betty C.'s mixes and says it makes them good.
  2. I see pancake recipes posted all of the time, but never make them, so now when I've changed my mind, can't find any, lol. Thanks to anyone who can post a good 'ole reliable tasty pancake recipe Here's an example of one I found online that I don't think I'll try. These buckwheat pancakes look good. The directions are a bit baffling, though. Leave...
  3. You can substitute Splenda in equal amts. for sugar if you want to go that route. You can also find MANY gluten-free recipes that call for natural sweeteners. gluten-free Goddess uses agave in a lot of her recipes. Many people use natural sweeteners in their recipes on their gluten-free blogs. Here's a flatbread recipe that needs no sugar and is my new...
  4. Cocoa Pebbles with three almonds and apple Juicy Juice instead of milk (never use milk in my cereal), one boiled egg, a slice of Rudi's cinnamon raisin toast with cream cheese, and coffee.
  5. That buttercream icing sounds delish, Love2. Now, could you tell me how to make that. I am icing challenged. Can never find an icing recipe that turns out right except for my burnt butter one. Would love some variety and butter cream sounds good.
  6. You know, they probably were the muffins. Not iced. Peanutbutter icing!!!!! WOW. Would love the recipe for that!
  7. Udi's chocolate cupcakes looked good at Kroger. Four huge ones. Anyone tried these? Just wondered if they'd be worth the $2 plus each. They would be worth it to me if they TASTE good. They weren't iced. Would have to buy icing from Betty Crocker. So that would make them over $10 for 4.
  8. I'm glad they turned out for you. What is a T-Rex cake? Must have missed that one.
  9. Oh gosh, they both sound delish! I just baked dill and chives flatbread this morning, dipped in olive oil, and reheated some blackeyed peas. That's what I call a functional breakfast. The function was, it was easy, so it worked for me.
  10. Left over dill flatbread and turkey bacon, coffee, and ice water.
  11. I have a good biscuit recipe, but they are not drop biscuits. You pat the dough out and cut them out with a glass. Every drop biscuit recipe I have tried, gluten-free, has not turned out tasting or looking very good. One thing that has helped me is to read the comments under the online recipes to see how the recipe turned out for others.
  12. I just saw this and it's probably too late now, but today for lunch I made some lovely flatbread that would have gone nicely with your pumpkin soup. Gluten-Free Flatbread by Emilia on May 11, 2008 I decided to make some flatbread for this months Go Ahead Honey its Gluten Free event hosted by Naomi at Straight Into Bed Cakefree and Dried. 16. I'm going country tonight. Cornbread, blackeyed peas with onions, and collard greens with vinegar. Oh yum.
  17. What brand sweet potato fries do you buy? I got some today at Wal Mart. Didn't say gluten-free, but read the ingredients and didn't see any. Here's hoping for the best. I like Johsonville. Their brats don't have enough msg to bother me unless I eat them several days in a row.
  18. Do you ever grind hazelnuts? Finally saw some hazelnut flour at Whole Foods. $13.99/pkg. Ouch! Not buying that anytime soon. Trader Joe's, perhaps? Not last time I checked.
  19. I made the last link which is flatbread. Thanks for the recipe, Manna!I'll cut it into bars and take tomorrow and heat up before we eat. Was good with a little butter, but my vegan friend can use her balance product. It will be at her house It was good. The texture was good. I used potato starch instead of arrowroot and molasses in place of honey b/c was...
  20. Ok. I made the last link and just had three pieces for supper with choritzo sausage.
  21. I get the Pebbles and Chexs cereals at Wal Mart Super Store in the grocery section.
  22. Brianne, Look over in the recipes section of this forum and you'll find all kinds of information. I am so sorry you're going through this, but remember you're just getting started. One thing that gives me headaces, other than gluten, is msg. Are you allergic to that? It is in so many things today. They are even putting it in roast beef now. I just found...
  23. Cornstarch gives me heartburn, so that wouldn't work for me, but everyone has to experient to see what works for them. I use Bette Hagman's blend sometimes, but lately have used variations mixing different flours and like that better. One poster (20 yrs. gluten-free) said she uses equal parts hazelnut flour, corn flour, and rice flour for her flour. I haven...
