  2. The lemon cookies sound good. Been looking for a recipe for lemon cookies.
  3. I do not need main dish suggestions. Those are easy enough. What I need are recipes that TASTE GOOD for gluten free baking. Agree with Gluten-Free Manna about not basing recipes around a mix that you have to mix up and then use.
  4. You know, I never go to these things because I know whatever I take is all I'll be able to eat. Half the fun of it is sampling what everyone else brings. But, I've decided to try it this time and only eat what I end up taking along with the tea. The only problem is I have no idea what to bake. Does anybody have ideas and/or recipes you'd like to share...
  5. What other thread? Couldn't find it.
  6. It could be the tapioca. They had a bad batch last winter/fall. They replaced mine for me and the new batch was fine.
  7. Mine was pretty white. All white. I used whole eggs. Both pans sank a little in the middle, also, but once cool, it didn't seem sunken as much and didn't affect the taste.
  8. I have to brag on this cake. Got it from a link on this site. This is sooooooo good. It's really a white cake, but it is great. We ate the first pan. Second cut into slices and froze. They only take about 30 mins. to thaw out. So good. I actually used only 1 cup of sugar because the batter was so thick. This was a "taste better the next day" recipe. ...
  9. Yep. It was Twizzlers.
  10. I feel for ya Two falls ago I got a craving for red licorice. Didn't even check the ingredients. Major migraine for days. Hope you cheat the symptoms this time and get a pass.
  11. Tina, so are you saying hazelnut flour is one of your staples? Wow. Hadn't heard anyone else say that, but since you've been gluten-free since 1990, maybe I should consider that. It is VERY expensive at Whole Foods. Have never seen it anywhere else. Where do you buy it?
  12. Are you both saying potato flour and not potato starch?
  13. Vegout, Hi. Here's the link to lots of gluten-free blogs. They all probably have recipes. Just click on the letter at the bottom to move to the other letters of the alphabet: Open Original Shared Link
  14. I used to have arrowroot many years ago and used it for Lentil Casserole and didn't like the taste of it. I'll eventually try this recipe, I'm sure. Today I'm trying another new to me recipe for rolls. Will report on the results later in the weekend
  15. Can you sub tapioca for the arrowroot? Or potato starch?
  16. Wow! That looks good. Thank you so much

  19. We use Koser salt instead of regular salt. It really brings out the flavor.
  20. ...yes, the barley will get you if the msg doesn't
  21. I've tried Annie's. It was ok. Here is a recipe I have in my files, but haven't made it yet. Sorry, I don't know where I got it: If you only add a pinch of the nutmeg, youd be surprised! Its very subtle, its the little thing in the background that makes your taste buds go, huh?! Paprika is an old standard and a little chili powder or cheyenne can add a...
  22. Takala, what is your formula again? Not just gluten-free flour and vinegar/baking soda?
  23. I always put mayonnaise on top of my talipia and then herbs and pepper. Used to have shrimp and cocktail sauce quite a bit with a little kick of real horseradish mixed in with homemade slaw and Oreida french fries.
  24. I know what you mean. I'm trying to use up what I have. I don't use cornstarch because of having had a bad reaction to it, but I'm pretty sure either potato starch or tapioca flour would be ok to substitute for arrowroot.
  25. I'm going to try this this weekend Would it be ok to use potato starch or tapioca in place of arrowroot?
