ARCHIVED Spaghetti Sauce
GlutenGalAZ replied to Wakeboarder's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
My husband and I like Classico Tomato & Basil (not the sweet one). Bertolli is a Unilever brand -- they are good with labeling as well. -
ARCHIVED The Children
GlutenGalAZ replied to jmcbride4291's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Sounds normal. I went through ups and downs when I cut out all gluten. I had days in the beginning where I was really tired and quiet to days where I was my normal talkative self. The first couple of days are the worst. Should get better during the next 1-2 weeks. -

GlutenGalAZ replied to buckeyenc5's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
buckeyenc5 -- I've tried a few gluten free cereals and my favorite one is Nature's Path Organic Corn Flakes. I get Erewhon Organic Crispy Brown Rice gluten free cereal sometimes for a change. Also use it with Kraft Jet-Puffed marshmallows to make marshmallow crispy treats for something sweet every couple months. -

GlutenGalAZ replied to stolly's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I use Banana Boat. They are really nice if you call them they will tell you which ones are not gluen free. I called last summer and I think it is just the self tanning ones. I use the Banana Boat Sport and the Sunscreen Stick (easy to apply to face). Have a great time at Walt Disney World! -

GlutenGalAZ replied to gfjayhawk's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Kraft makes a shake on cheese now..it's in a small blue container with a yellow top -- called Macaroni & Cheese, Cheese Topping (Shake on Popcorn & More!). It is by the Parmesan Cheese. It is the same stuff as what is in the Kraft macaroni and cheese boxes. I mainly got it for mac and cheese but have tried it on popcorn, it is okay the cheese tends... -
Thank you for all of the great input. I think I am going to take it slow with the eating out thing. I normally just get french fries at fast food places (pretty much just In N Out -- since they definately do not use the oil with other things). I did have my first encounter with talking to a person when we went to In N Out the other day -- I knew my...

I haven't been to a restaurant yet while eating gluten free. I am more of a eat at home person, but my In-Laws are wanting my husband and I to go out to dinner with them (they just asked us tonight to go out this weekend). Background: We work with my in-laws and they ask us a lot to go out and eat and we always just make up some excuse or that the place...

ARCHIVED Multi-vitamin
GlutenGalAZ replied to GlutenGalAZ's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thank you for all of the input. My Centrum is the older formula I guess b/c it has the Vitamin C 60mg and doesn't have the "new formula" on the front label. The health food store didn't have a good selection and the one that looked good had barley in it. So I am going to see if the grocery store has Nature Made if not will call Sam's Club and ask the brands... -
ARCHIVED Multi-vitamin
GlutenGalAZ posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have always taken Centrum Advanced Formula but go through phases where I get really busy and forget to take it. I am getting strict with myself where I am keeping one of those 7 day pill containers on my counter so when I eat in the morning I remember to take it. Last year when I went gluten free and found out it could be in vitamins I called Centrum... -

ARCHIVED Xanthan Gum And Corn Starch
GlutenGalAZ posted a topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I want to get into baking different breads and cookies. What is the difference between Xanthan Gum and gluten free Corn Starch? They are both used as thickeners so can I use the corn starch instead of the xanthan gum? Or is corn starch just mainly for soups and gravies? Thank you -
cupp125 Watch out what type of allergy medicine you take. I have a high pulse and take a beta blocker to help keep is down. Some allergy medicines have decongestants in them which will make your pulse race (just like Sudafed would make your pulse race as well). When I asked my dr what over the counter medicine I could take he said Claritin original...

GlutenGalAZ replied to mrs turbo's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My husband eats gluten but he noticed a change in my attitude and mood the first couple of months that I started eating gluten free. ARCHIVED Help!
GlutenGalAZ replied to jcjmdj's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
For the stomach pain you might wanna try a heating pad or take a bath in epson salt. I also live in a small town where there are a couple of grocery stores and one really good (smaller) health food store. Last year I attempted to ask all of the grocery stores here in town if they carried Enjoy Life (wanted to try) and no one had any idea what I was... -
ARCHIVED Do Restaurants Allergen Charts Take Cross-contamination Into Consideration
GlutenGalAZ replied to sdb-93's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
On the Allergen charts they show what the "item" does not have. Yes, you still have to put into consideration CC with what you are eating. The item is prepared in the same kitchen that is preparing things with flour etc so when they are using the flour it goes in the air and lands on other items possibly. Plus you never know if the person who is preparing... -

GlutenGalAZ replied to gluten15's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I don't know if ingredients have changed but this past summer I called Heinz and e-mailed them to see if the Jack Daniels BBQ Sauce was gluten free and they said no. I can't remember what the gluten was in it b/c I have thrown away the container & it was months ago. They do list the following as being gluten free: Jack Daniel's EZ Marinader --... -

GlutenGalAZ replied to jkmunchkin's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
My husband and I have used in the past Pro-Pet Natural Oatmeal Shampoo (can get at Target or WalMart). After I went gluten free though I was iffy on using the Oatmeal on our dogs b/c when they shake and the water/soap gets on you. We switched over to Hartz brand -- Infusions Moisturizing Vitamin Shampoo. So far it seems to be good for both of our dogs...
