  1. Thumper: In the beginning for me I just wanted to start to feel better so I was eating a lot of salads, white corn tortillas (Mission) things that were from the grocery store that I knew were safe while I did research on what I could eat. It is very hard in the beginning with understanding everything and knowing what to look for and hidden gluten. It...
  2. I organized the pantry where I have my gluten free items on a shelf and my husband has his gluten foods on another then a shelf with shared foods that we both like that are gluten free. We each have our own peanut butter and tub of butter (I put stickers sometimes on the ones that are mine or a big G F). He makes his sandwhiches on a counter that...
  3. -Bread (frozen) -- Kinnikinnick White Sandwhich Bread (so far) -Bread (mix) -- (have a couple to try) -Cake Mix -Cookies (prepared or mix) --Pamela's Chunky Chocolate Chip Cookies and Wild Oats gluten-free Chocolate Chip Cookies (I break 2 up in vanilla ice cream sometimes). -Pasta -- Ancient Harvest -Pizza/Pizza Crust -- Kinnikinnick frozen crust...
  4. I believe the protein burger at In N Out is gluten free (would double check but last I heard) and their fries. Carl's Jr their Low Carb 6 dollar burger is gluten free and their fries (if its a dedicated fryer). Wendy's like Darn210 said has a lot of gluten free foods (posted on their website) Salads (minus some things i.e. croutons and tortilla strips...
  5. I like to go on walks after work, relax and watch TV/Movies, do some kind of crafts (take you mind off of things b/c you are concentrating on painting or making a necklace with beads or sewing something). My husband and I go on hikes on the weekend. I use a heating pad sometimes on my stomach (helps sometimes) or a nice bath (can use epson salt...
  6. If you are going to a restaurant try looking online to see if they have a gluten free list that way you can get some ideas on what to order. Make sure you let the waiter or manager know about your food needs. Chilis has a gluten free list. Breakfast I am not too sure about.... I don't really care for breakfast out but I would think a fruit plate would...
  7. I haven't made my own bread yet (planning on though really soon) but I know with already made gluten free bread it lasts a couple of days to a week on the counter (depending on the brand). I keep mine in the freezer and take out what I need. Put it in the microwave for like 10 seconds and then in the toaster. From what I have read about making bread...
  8. sharps45 The only cereals I have tried at the grocery store (from the normal cereals) has been Dora the Explorer and one of the Disney ones that was next to the Dora box -- has Mickey if I am remembering correct on the box, sorry been a while (it is kind of like Trix). I agree with darlindeb25 -- I remember one box of the Dora I felt fine but the...
  9. I was on the Everyday Minerals Site the other day and someone posted a comment about how there is a guy on you tube doing a video comparing Mac brushes to brushes you can get at the craft store. The brushes are for tole painting/canvas painting. The videos were really interesting. Just thought I would let you know since you are maybe looking for...
  10. Thanks for the replies. I think I will try a mix first and work my way to trying recipes. Thanks for the pointer on using any extra dough for rolls. I really miss dinner rolls, so that would be a treat. Thanks again.
  11. In the beginning I went through our pantry and pulled out any foods that were questionable and looked up the foods website, e-mailed or called to ask if it was gluten free. There are some companies where in the FAQ section they do have a list of gluten free foods they make. If I e-mail a company I try to ask about a product in particular and then ask if...
  12. RE: Cecelia's Marketplace -- gluten-free Grocery Shopping Guide I am trying to broaden my shopping list at the grocery stores not just online and health food stores. I asked them when their 2008 edition is coming out and they said late March, so I am thinking about giving it a try. On their website I saw that they have a product alert list...
  13. Ancient Harvest is my favorite pasta brand. They have veggie curls that are really good -- I had them the other day as mac and cheese (with velveeta). There spaghetti noodles are really good too. The first 1-2 time I used their pasta I did not feel well and I was really bummed b/c the taste is REALLY good. I gave the pasta another try after waiting...
  14. I like to cook but have never really had the time to get into baking. My new goal is to make bread (rolls and pizza crust too) hoping it will be better than already made bread. Does anyone have any suggestions/pointers on bread mixes? Also which is easier for someone who hasn
  15. This is from their website: Are any of your products gluten-free? Which ones? All of our Bush's Best products are gluten-free with the exception of Bush's Best Chili Beans, the four varieties of Bush's Homestyle Chili and Bush's Chili Magic
  16. Mrsry My parents are really understanding about me not eating gluten. When they come to visit they always ask if I am going to make spaghetti (my dad really likes the gluten free noodles) or tacos. I actually have fun when my parents are here b/c I know they understand what I can and cannot eat. But
  17. If you like pasta -- Classico is gluten free Which of the Classico
  18. Doesn't aveeno have oats in their products? That is what I always associated aveeno with. I like Vaseline, Johnson and Johnson Softlotions and Udderly Smooth foot cream.
  19. Thought I would share an e-mail I just rec'd (2-11-08) from Johnson and Johnson. (I asked about a couple lotions in particular. With some companies if you ask if they have a gluten free list, they just say to look at the label b/c they have too many products to have a gluten free list and ingredients change.) Thank you for contacting the Johnson &...
  20. I really like Kinikinnick White Bread. You keep it frozen (so you can stock up on it) and then I put it in the microwave for about 10 seconds on each side then in the toaster until light brown. I've tried Ener-G bread couple months ago but did not like the texture. The Kinikinnick Bread works really good for a sandwhich right then or for later -- I...
