ARCHIVED The Funny Pages - Tickle Me Elbow - The Original

Wow what an illustrative example!! I don't suppose you remember what part of CA. Could be Bay Area. My buddy John talked to one guy in Willow Glen doing a short-term rental who was going to sell afterwards. John thought guessing "close to a mil" was overestimating slightly, but it was going to list for $1.9M !!!!! Our little Willow Glen neighborhood... -

To get a house, I'll have a roommate. Luckily he's a bit of a neatnik - the other guy at apt was the slob - and already agreed to even keep cologne in the car! The slob was full-time SJ, while John is gone on biz 3wks/mo. House ad: $2k/mo I hoped it would work, but John says bedrms too damn small. These "with gardener" ones make me wonder... -
This goes exactly to my point. By its nature, the only evidence of being CC'd is in the reaction. Absence of a CC reaction, having taken glutenease, is, to me, most likely due to no CC in the 1st place. I'm SO VERY curious about how much gluten u consumed for your test of whether glutenease *would*, in fact, ease the glutening suffering. P...

Hi Bren!! Hooboy have WE ever got some similarities in medical history. I had a stretch where I knew I had celiac, but somehow was under the ridiculous and ultimately incredibly life-changing impression that I could ingest some small amount of wheat/gluten that didn't cause much symptoms that day or the next. I had it nailed down for how much gluten...

I make a point of trying to separate my sports-related thoughts from the unavoidable sexist ones. I do run into trouble when watching WNBA players miss layups tho. Oops I guess I'm wrong on Mia's recent posting frequency. But still there ARE posts. Dingy's been AWOL long enough, she's become the *other* Susie!! -

Hehe "out of sight, out of mind" doesn't quite count for Rachelville, does it? Sorry to hear of the turn, julie. Has something been figured out for the comeback or is it still search mode? Good luck, regardless!! She's posting more days than not anyway, juliejulie. (Seems redundant to write that since Mia's probably on prev... -

Chalk up another one for our wise-beyond-her-years columnist Jin. Coffee's usually so easy. It's either plain or it's not. Don't forget I'm the guy who hasn't been to a restaurant of any sort in 2-3yrs except once when stuck in Santa Cruz. That time I had a 1 ingred entree and had the waiter go talk to the chef TWICE to make sure it'd work... -
YES!!! GO DAIRY-FREE!!!!! At least for a week. I bet you'll feel a ton better. Actually since my FINAL food intolerance test took 10days (soy) somehow to be definitive, maybe I should always recommend a wk & a 1/2. I can't recommend soymilk anymore. For cereal I use almond milk or hazelnutmilk, both by Pacific Natural Foods. Don't try Rice Dream...

Whoa two weeks!!! Sounds great I have yet to go to Europe myself. Wish I'd started going long ago, there's SO much to see. Have a fantastic fortnight Emily! Oh & the rest of ya - I need to amend my "Shoot Me" promise. I hope it's not too late cuz I wouldn't want to be shot for just referring to a wife as Mom when it's strictly for the... -

Cool! That's the 1st time I've heard something specific. I might have to look closer at that. Argh! I'm so behind! And don't want to catch up piecemeal; rather get all the post-LED appt news at once. Claire must be in transit by now. Wish I didn't have to wait until Fri for SJ!! Donna, I've been wondering whether that bubbling... -

Yikes! I sure didn't word my post the way I'd wanted! I've seen mention of it here, but ppl say they *think* it "helps", while never actually having any idea whatsoever whether they needed any "help". (Possible cc is scenario) -

ARCHIVED Paleolithic Diet
tom replied to Mally-bug's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Yeah Mally, isn't this forum an awesome collection of helpful ppl? Hey, 1st off, I grew up in Mt. Prospect! Are u anywhere near the NW suburbs? Now the meat of the matter - I've been on something very close to a paleo diet for 2+ years and I don't miss anything!! (Ok maybe sometimes a little cheese on something might be nice) In some ways my super... -
GOOD LUCK!!!!!! Glad it looks like it's been worked out. <phew!> Such a pain to even have to deal w/ such nonsense in the first place!

Heyyyyyyy I never used the G-word The last time I got glutened was mid-march 2004, and I *know* I would've felt far worse if I got glutened. It could have been corn syrup or dairy or who knows really. I personally don't think Glutenease would help me. Until there's a product called Gliadin-ease I'm not interested. A celiac's problem isn... -

Gah! No no no! I didn't say it right at all!! Monterey Peninsula coast isn't trashed!!! Bite your tongue!! <ouch> It's wild and rocky, not sandy and slow-mo red-suited silicone!! And not smooth rocks either. THAT's why shoes are recommended. (Plenty of great sandy beaches all over the Central Coast, just not at that unique tip of that... -
ARCHIVED For Those Who Didn't Have Awful Stomach Problems
tom replied to Elaine40's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Well, I guess I can't quite answer whether there are a lot of us, but there's more than a few. The typical GI symptoms listed on all the mainstream medical sites were certainly present, but maybe only the massive 2ton nausea cracks the top10 worst symptoms. (The worst flu nausea I've ever had would weigh in ~400lbs) In relation to the what I *think... -
ARCHIVED Gluten And Allergen Cross Contamination In "gluten Free" Foods
tom replied to Tarrenae's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Have u considered that the issue might be intolerance to another food? If the symptoms aren't constant, nothing will be more valuable than a food/symptom diary. There is NO way I would've recovered w/out one, and I, for (woohoo!) an entire 7wks have been feeling better than since the early 70s, when I was a kid!! Celiac, and complications like... -

HI RACHEL!!! 25 hrs!! I might've tried to sleep 20 of them! 15's an awful lot. Looking fwd to details . . . . . -
Ohhhhh at first I was dismayed that it was worsening eyesight w/ gluten-free, but then the tide turned! Mine absoLUTEly got better w/ gluten-free!! It was particularly noticeable because the deterioration was quite noticeably increasing those last 6 or more months of being just mostly wheat-free but not 100% check-your-toothpaste gluten-free. (Ya I know...

I am 100% completely in line w/ Carla on this one. Even w/ just ONE of the reasons. "I'll most likely be with my best friend that day". "I'm sorry, I SO wish I could eat there." What an incredible MIL! And I hope u realize (hmmm this may be moot depending on how long you've been married) that if u were to give in on this, it becomes tacit...

(or more correctly not quite a big LOL, as much as a verrrryyyyy long low chuckle - uhoh it started again, cya in a few minutes) And yes, I must admit, I believe the english teeth rep is probably currently undeserved, but maybe correct decades ago. -

AHhhhhh yes, panacea is a favorite word of mine. (I swear an herbacious combustible used to work for me.) <hmmmm is it worth a scolding to mention Karin's sore throat remedy . . . > HUSH you!!!!!! Whew I *bet* there's a ton to do, betw the conference prep & regular travel-related things. The double-combo trip makes u away from home for pretty long. The retreat at Asilomar is in *such* a nice location. Tho not "away-from-it-all", if u face West, it can feel like it!! If I remember correctly, there's not a lot of actual beach near there as...
