ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
tom replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Well, scoot over a lil cuz I'm in the same boat. As much as I like to understand how things work, it was proven to me that I don't *need* to understand something for it to work. I only went to an acupuncturist out of pure and extreme desperation. Sister said I looked "gray" at airport. Then one acupoke session made a 3000% difference. I still... -

Being in same area, you would be at least on the same 'superserver'. (Top level internet) and even w/out same ISP, you could have a lower-hierarchy server in common. Throwing the server-pc-forum relationship a curveball w/ that "offset st#" url edit I mentioned seems to work. Donna - it does leave a post or 2 off the page. I would've explained... -

A triple c.e.R.k. ???????? :) Wow!!! You two might meet up before the 10th, but how about we all meet somewhere after work on that Fri the 10th? Donna, if you can't on 10th, I'm in town thru Tues the 14th. I'll PM. :) -

Oy I would've left. Whether I can tolerate it or not, I think it's doing me harm. I can take being seen as impolite much easier than thinking I'm potentially harming my health. -

Whoa!!! :) A c.e.R.k??? <bigger smile> I fly in ~lunch on the 10th !! Can u pick me up @ the airport?? LMAO no no I've got 3 eager volunteers already. Asilomar is soooooooo nice! Even just the little drive to it, off hwy 1, along woody Hwy 68West is calming. I've walked around that center a little, as it's right by... -

Yay SJjazz! 2 wks from today is last day of fest. Yes StrawberryMusicFest is Sep. I should've gotten something in the mail by now dangit. Then again, I'm not sure when I last bothered to *check* the mail! This topic reminds me of The Man Show. Jimmy Kimmel's sure come a long way since an every-show segment w/ bikini'd women on trampolines... -

I think know to get around this by fiddling w/ the url. I think it's just betw your pc & server. The url for this page (well, 1400 anyway), is http:// www .glutenfreeforum.com/index.php?showtopic=16736&st=20985 (Spaces added to make it non-clickable) That last # is STart #. You can change it from 20985 to 20971 to see p1399.... -
ARCHIVED K So I Took The Candida Quiz...
tom replied to Sweetfudge's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Well, I know a decent amount about candida, since I researched plenty once I found I had it (by York intolerance test result of Yeast and frenzied research that same day), but I'm sure others here know more and I wouldn't claim any expertise. It's true that so many symptoms on the quizzes could be caused by so many things, but it's in the tallying that... -
ARCHIVED Anchorage Alaska And Gluten-free?
tom replied to trober's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
I do know of a pretty decent natural foods store in midtown Anch, but not sure of the name right now. (I have a celiac niece in Anchor, dx 3 yrs ago) Using YahooYellowPages should find it easily. (I'd do it but I'm surfing on a phone) [Aw heck, I haven't talked to them in a while so I called. The food store is Natural Pantry, but there's also a good section... -

Hi Mia, HooooooBoy, I thought for sure I'd be leaning towards avoiding a possible setback being the largest factor, in my mind, but then the mountain air part came up!! That's a toughie! It might feel soooo tremendous to be in the mountains for a change. So, I can only weigh in as a "firm undecided". D'oh! Whichever way feels right at... -
ARCHIVED Venting Slighty But I Do Still Wonder
tom replied to Kylie's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hi Kylie, Let me be the first of many to say there is never a need to apologize for or spend a moment worrying about sounding whiney. Seriously. I remember a 3 month period where I was sure I'd aged 15-20 years. Or was it a 6 mo period? Memories weren't filed away properly for a time there. I can relate at least a bit anyway. But I didn't go... -

The top part makes me wonder if it's one of those acquired intolerances, like me w/ corn & soy. Ground black pepper is certainly moldy. A big no-no for every candida diet. Haven't had it for 2+ yrs. BUT, whole black pepper freshly-ground during prep or at the table is fine. I had a big problem w/ mold and had freshly-ground black pepper during... -
If I were in your position, there's no way I'd eat the gluten. I was ready to *hit* the jackass Dr that didn't accept my refusal the 1st or 2nd time he asked me to eat *&^%$#$%^ bread for a month. 3x in 20 minutes this supposed expert told me to eat bread. Throughout the entire hour w/ this jackass, who's quite well known to Bay Area celiacs...

ARCHIVED At Home Food Intolerance Testing -- Your Opinion/experience
tom replied to Greeneyes4950's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Whoa I *just* posted in another thread about this. I used what was then York Labs and it helped me a great deal. (Is the url really still active? Or maybe it redirects) They've changed their name to something like Optimal Health Resources(?). It's in the other thread. Good Luck w/ whichever way u decide to go. -
ARCHIVED Food Intolerance Testing?
tom replied to Calle's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Ahhhhhhhhh-HA!! I was trying to think of what York Labs changed their name to. I did their 116 (or so) food panel a couple yrs ago and, while expensive, it helped me treMENDously! I recommend it. -
ARCHIVED K So I Took The Candida Quiz...
tom replied to Sweetfudge's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Now you decide to take a "By Any Means Necessary" approach - to me, that's the only way to beat it. I had a pretty bad case of candida, affecting me in SO many ways. Now, the only remaining associated symptom may be not wanting to be in an elevator w/ a perfumed/cologned individual. 2 things to do: 1) Find a good Dr - I ended up w/ an ND... -
Ahhh very interesting! While I have read up some on AT-1001 and zonulin, I haven't been as zealous lately as I'd been for many years. Thx for the info!

ARCHIVED Moving, Possibly To A Big City...wanting Opinions
tom replied to Sweetfudge's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
The 1st place that popped into mind for me was Portland, for it's incredible level of 'gluten-free friendliness'. My sister is there and *always* seems to have a new story about gluten-free in PDX. Latest was that there was some ad on a city bus w/ GLUTEN-FREE in 2 foot letters - on a BUS!!! Before that was how even the >tiny< neighborhood... -

Wow an actual hangover! It's been so long I wonder if I'll ever have one of those again. <note to self: don't go drinking w/ small farm animals> Rachel!! I was starting to wonder if I somehow missed appt news. I'm curious about the LED & did think it was starting on the 25th. Still, I'm curious about pre-LED appt goings-on.... -
I think we all understood what u said. I don't see what the problem is. Each statement that I felt deserved a comment, got one. If it discredits what you said, then as a newbie reads the thread, my mission is served. It doesn't matter to ME who writes something I feel a need to comment on. I just quote & go. Don't take it personally...

Hi Doll, While I do believe many celiacs develop leaky-gut, it's not the primary mechanism in celiac-related problems. To me, having been greatly affected by both, they are two very separate issues. The leaky-gut problems are most often not noticed until after a celiac has been gluten-free for a while. There are also many celiacs who don't develop...

Hmmmm Considering that the actual harmful protein is gliadin, a protein fraction of the gluten molecule (as long as we're talking wheat, it's gliadin), we might be better off if the entire gluten molecule could pass through w/out ANY breaking down of it whatsoever.

Does *everyone* think what I wrote qualifies as "bashing"? Good thing u didn't see the pre-edited versions!! (I must admit I meant to toss in a "I hope u don't find this rude, but . .. .") I didn't accuse of u agreeing w/ the shill. I asked in a way that, in fact, assumed u didn't. Topics like this do raise my hackles tho. That I can...
