  1. <Oy . ..just a couple wks late> The only hit song written by nowned, nowned & REnowned children's author Shel Silverstein?
  2. He hung a man in Reno just to watch him dry. <snicker>
  3. Yikes! B12 levels are NOT a useful test for celiac. Many many MANY celiacs don't even have significant gastro symptoms, much less the level of villous atrophy req'd for serious malabsorption.
  4. I know there's been some controversy on this in the past (reminds me of bleu cheese controversy), but I'm pretty darn sure there are loads of gluten-free products from reputable companies using brown rice syrup as a sweetener.
  5. My first thought is 'some number of increasingly miserable years.' And I also agree that many, if not all, of his symptoms could be due to celiac.
  6. Hi Emmers Been thinking of you & your family all week. Your Dad sure touched a lot of people - so many wunnerful things written. Gian-knit - love the Smackl story. Learned 2 things lately. 1) 3ml is a lot of spit when foam doesn't count. 2) I was correct in expecting to gag during critical moments of stool test process...
  7. Ooooh dingy does Aptos!! Should be mahhhhvelous. I used to visit friends there and in La Selva Beach. Makes me think of the luscious calamari at Zelda's in Capitola. Mmmmmmm .. ...pre-gluten-free. Love love LOVE their patio on the beach. Can't think of a better one for sandy toes, drinks & pubgrub - daytime, sunset or night. Doc appt...
  8. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that you've missed the point of my post, which wasn't about testing ppm, but rather this assertion:
  9. Wow, that's a new one - except of course for oats.
  10. I *still* haven't seen the gluten-free cinn here, even tho the plain rice chex were here from the beginning, I think. Read a box yesterday. Soooooooo .. ..I gotta ask - for all I know someone else picked it up for you - any chance it was pre-gluten-free box?
  11. Ahhhh but it CAN make sense if the issue is casein. The casein molecule in goat's milk is considerably smaller than cow's milk casein, so for some of us w/ casein reactions (cow's milk), it's different enough to not cause problems.
  12. Hehehe reminds me of a bit from Corner Gas, while showing the endless flatland in all directions, claiming it's a "great view - there's nothin' in the way". Em, I remember you mentioned when the last CG was. I dunno how many seasons WGN-Chicago bought but they need to buy the rest. I'd guess they're just looping 4 seasons. I need new Corner Gas!!!...
  13. The job ended in late April, when the contract was up. I was so beyond exhausted all the time I was ready for a break, but haven't really been all that much less exhausted w/out it. Might start again before too long ....hmmm . .. .maybe after too long. It's up in the air. The free consult appt went well enough. Been meaning to post about it...
  14. Hey Eminemily, have a grrrrrreat trip! Glaciers are fun, I've been on more than a few. Watch for crevasses - might be pumas down there. (wth was that smothers brothers bit?) Gian-knit! I'll bet there'll be no need to quotify beach. There are plenty of real beaches on Lake Michigan. Not as wide as a big wide ocean beach, but good enough to unquotify...
  15. Hi, Sedona has a pizza place called Picazzo's that makes gluten-free pizza. Open Original Shared Link Sounds like a great trip.
  16. A common feeling around here. Hope you're feeling better than last post. Alternating D & C is also common, pre-gluten-free. How long until the GI appt? Hope it's not too brutal to be eating gluten until then. Have you been reading thru other relevant threads here? (I thought it very peculiar you got no replies - I don't think that...
  17. Carmel's climes sound soothing .. ...ahhhhhhhh Have a great time Spruezle
  18. Hiya Wellllllllll . ...I've got an appt - just 30min free consultation - w/ the Dr.s who wrote that "Gluten Effect" book. (W/ their office anyway) Open Original Shared Link Hard to say whether I can work up much optimism, but gotta do SOMEthin' eh? It's Thurs @6pm. Weird time.
  19. I thought there was a celiac yahoo group that focused on the north bay area, but didn't come up w/ the url. There is Open Original Shared Link , which may be the one I was thinking of, which gets mentioned on Open Original Shared Link Good luck
  20. Hey psillies . . .. <weak wave> .. ... Day3 of no coffee here. Haven't gotten the tight headache I had last time I went coff-free, but unsure whether that's a good thing. Maybe if I were feeling some sort of withdrawals it'd mean something's changing? Anyway . ..blah .. ...been wondering if I've become intolerant to something I've thought...
  21. I use Food4Life brown rice tortillas & Trader Joe's version of same. There are several other teff-based tortillas that are popular, but I can't recall the company name right now. They have other ingred I can't have.
  22. Ola psillies <lil wave> yeahhhhh I'm w/ ya on this one And I see Algernon came up, right around when I was recalling how I'd written my fears of the Algernon Effect on the OMG thread, nearly 2 yrs ago. I remembered how it took 2 or 3 months before I could believe that feeling so great after going soy-free could possibly last...
  23. Hi Jenny I'm in San Jose, but have too many other intolerances to eat out much. I know there are a few other Bay Area celiacs here, but there are more at Open Original Shared Link & they get together occasionally. There's also a North Bay group but I don't have the url. What part of the area are you in?
  24. One big part of the problem w/ celiac disease is that even a celiac who's NEVER been gluten-free has a good chance of a false negative on the blood tests.
