  1. I'd like to reiterate that El Pollo Loco has been perfectly safe for me countless times over the years. I get just the grilled chicken meal w/ pinto beans, no tortillas. Even if they forget & add tortillas, they're in a little envelope of sorts & haven't touched anything. If I'm taking it home I might make rice tortilla burritos. Mmm mouth...
  2. It's a breeze. You're asleep. Then you wake up in another room & someone has to drive you home.
  3. Pepto-Bismol! Or do you mean tablets?
  4. My kitchen was a gluten-free facility until a kid walked thru w/ a KitKat. All my silverware used to touch gluten all the time. I'd bet you didn't get glutened.
  5. Incredible what food can do sometimes. All your symptoms could be food-related. Sometimes it's easier than others to find out. Why bother "handling limited dairy"? Find out what happens w/ zero dairy. Gluten is more complicated in that testing doesn't really work once gluten-free. Btw, I've done all your 'brain fog' examples myself & it went...
  6. Wow congratulations figuring all that out! :confettithrowingface: Awesome to hear how fantastic you feel.
  7. Snarky health professionals are very professional. And did the House show give them the go-ahead to treat patients as a buncha liars? (Not that I don't like the show overall ) Infuriating.
  8. Can't raw be harder to digest?
  9. I'm an elec engr who can't be in a room w/ perfume/cologne/cleanser odors/fumes so I work after hrs. CFS type bs keeps me from full-time hrs.
  10. Woohoo! While wasting some time waiting for the car's tune-up, I found that the local Safeway, maybe a mile away, is now carrying Redbridge!! No more 9pm or bust BevMo, or further 10pm or bust WhFds while I'm usually working 7p-11p. (Yeah sometimes I pop out) Now I can actually pick up some beer AFTER work, like a regular human .. .sniff .. ...I . . .I...
  11. Didn't mean any attack. Thought I was just acknowledging that you may have exaggerated for effect & didn't literally believe that it's hopeless w/out a 3 month, high-dose challenge. The word isn't perjorative, of itself. And many celiacs have been dx'd w/ a lesser challenge, haven't they?
  12. You shouldn't have. Even if someone apparently traveled to Peru & reported that they saw possible ways for cc in the field, quinoa seeds have husks. The edible part doesn't touch anything but the inside of the husk. An article about potential hypothetical cc shouldn't set off a panic. I'm also kinda skeptical about Peruvian farmers of the "ancient...
  13. The experts have no consensus on this. That study linked to in another thread recently had a positive blood & biopsy at 5 wks into a challenge. (All were positive & min duration was 5wks) Surely this negates the "to have a hope of positive test" phrase/hyperbole. Stanford says 1mo, half slice/day. I wish we really knew. Steve,...
  14. Leaky Gut, or Increased Intestinal Permeability, is well-accepted by GIs who've kept current anyway. SciAm had a good long article in Aug '09 with Celiac in the title, but it spent more time on leaky gut. Great diagrams in that one. Written by Dr. Fasano of U of MD.
  15. Ahhh good, I thought, until going back wishing I could read more than the abstract & then wishing I'd wished for something better, since I COULD see the full text for this one! Anyway, a closer look still finds issues w/ whether a truly 100% gluten-free celiac is represented in the data. The dietician's assessment gives each subject 1 of 5 grades...
  16. Seeing " Poor compliance to GFD (P<0.01),... strongly associated with persistent mucosal damage" in the Results section makes me consider that their definition of a GFD isn't quite the same as mine, as if it's a just prescribed goal & a patient who 'tries REALLY hard' is on a GFD, whereas I might say some of them are on a 99% GFD or maybe even only...
  17. But but . . . .how will Amber & Candi ever pay for college??????
  18. I think the white patches are the nudist's reduction of a jersey number/runner's bib. "Remaking your swing or just happy to see me?"
  19. Well, that's a little silly. The article is regarding the local manufacturing co that's making the stuff for ImmunsanT's clinical trials. No actual "vaccine" news, though the misguided author or editor uses "Microtest manufactures celiac cure" headline, further disinforming their readers. As much as they like to call these vaccines, their own site's explainer...
  20. How was the ride? HS robotics gets great pub here in silicon valley of course. Cool stuff & seems the kids would learn so much on topics not well-served just sitting in class, like living thru design vs. engr'g tradeoffs. (& can't hurt to get in good w/ our future electronic bio-mechanical overlords!)
  21. Heheheehee I commend your enthusiasm Emmers, but I meant to speak more of add'l smilie options, capturing the nuance of 2 parts , 1 part & a splash of . Thought of your not-so-lil-anymore goalie when espn guy used "standing on his head" during replays.
  22. Well! That's pretty cool.
  23. If we ever need evidentiary substance in a demand for 3x the number of smilies, that's it. Geez I'm reluctant to hit Enter for new line . . . Uhhh zzzzzzzz
