  1. Try soy-free for 2 wks. One week wasn't enough for me. Then it made a HUGE difference. I don't think any's hidden anymore as its a Top8 Allergen. So it's not that hard. Whattayagot to lose? Thread started w/ saying you feel like you've tried everything, so it's time for 2 wks soy-free. Good luck!
  2. Sorry I was a bit hyperbolic. You really don't see products in the UK w/ de-glutened wheat starch? I've been under the impression they're quite common in Europe.
  3. I didn't have actual tracing tracers but there were some peripheral vision flashy sparks for a while. It was on & off but hasn't happened in a couple yrs now. I found photopsia sounded similar, but was full field of vision.
  4. Oh I have plenty of post-gluten-free GI & non-GI issues as well. I'm saying that most celiacs don't, imo, and that makes the article alarmist for most ppl.
  5. Well I went & read those - or the abstracts anyway. I don't think any of them sheds light on the length/quantity issue of a gluten challenge. For starters all 3 are about dx'g children, notoriously more difficult for whatever reason than dx'g adults. From the referenced post: The abstract says the 13 wk median time was the duration of the...
  6. Wait, what? If the endoscopy's to check for other things (besides baselining possible existing damage from a "certain" dx), there'd be no reason to keep eating gluten.
  7. Does no one else see that article as overly alarmist? We see plenty of highly-affected celiacs/NCGIs online but percentages have to be skewed by the more affected being online more, continuing the search for health. I was amazed when I joined yahoo's bay area celiac group. Seemed out of ~30 ppl, only 2 or 3 still had any celiac-related problems at all...
  8. These situations are so tough & all-too-common. Looking forward to the day testing is a lot easier & highly accurate.
  9. Stanford says a half slice of bread/day for a month. Isn't the only thing to agree on is that there isn't consensus?
  10. Have you tried soy-free? Or if there's fluctuation in symptoms a food/symptom diary can help correlate things that aren't so obvious.
  11. I really like El Pollo Loco but wow they just love to add new items, always making me worry about a new source of cc. Like grilled burritos. Is everyone *always* doing that away from my grilling chicken? Sure, they're supposed to but will they when swamped & there's room? Hope you're better soon. Extra probiotics might help. And I've seen talk of the...
  12. I read the OP as pertaining more to Europe's allowance of "de-glutened" wheat products & finding that they're maybe not as de-glutened as they thought. Every Euro study is tainted in my mind when their gluten-free group is stuffing themselves w/ these products.
  13. Hope you feel better quickly. I've wondered about trying clarified butter since it should be casein-free. It's the phrase "in theory" that gets in the way. Looks like symptom-wise you're pretty sure it's a glutening. Seems too often I'm in a situation where i'd like to test something but really really don't want to make myself sick while one test outcome...
  14. Ahhh thank you! So quick! There's even a Walmart just a few long blocks from work.
  15. Oh how I miss the pre-celiac job-provided Vision Plan. I've needed new specs for a while. I had no idea they could cost so little. But I'd need to get prescription checked. Someplace should do that w/out packaging it w/ glasses purchase, I suppose/hope. Ooh I'm kinda psyched now! Great thread!

    ARCHIVED Aloe Juice

More than 10 yrs ago a friend of mine worked for a couple months simply posting positive things about Pedialite, never linking to site selling it. She was just one of however many creating a positive online impression. Posting no link is far from exculpatory. Do ppl really think the OP's 2nd post reads like someone who even read the replies? If...

    ARCHIVED Aloe Juice

Hmmm I got a PM from the shill protesting my judgement, but come on - his/her 2nd post quotes his/her 1st post to reply, obviously not caring what real replies were written. Does an actual celiac in a panic about eating a slice of pizza (or two) really ignore advice in this forum? I don't mean 'read & disregard', I think he/she didn't read replies...

    ARCHIVED Aloe Juice

Hehehe looks like the aloe juice shill didn't even bother to notice the replies. 1. Create acct 2. Pretend to be a celiac making a ridiculous mistake that product X could solve- just a question of how much & how often. 3. Say it worked!!

    ARCHIVED Aloe Juice

I've seen a study that concluded probiotics probably help some/most ppl, but there aren't any surefire treatments. Hope it's over soon.
  20. My ataxia was gone for good w/in maybe 4-6 wks of 100% gluten-free. (It actually first started while I was uninformedly 99% gluten-free) Barely being able to complete sentences didn't go until I was also soy-free for a couple wks. What sucked was that i'd already done multiple elimination trials of soy over a couple yrs for 3 days, 5 days, a week &...
  21. I've had them & been fine, tho I don't think I'm a super-sensitive.
  22. Wow 3 for 3 - I'm surprised I hadn't heard this before. I didn't do a challenge so no input here but I do have a question. Curious about how much gluten you're all consuming for the challenge (& for how long) & whether that's a factor in this. I've seen Drs say 1/2 slice bread/day for a month, or 2 slices/day for 3 months, or eat 'normal' w/out...
  23. Gotta admit I imagined a Records Room w/ 8ft mini-dragons guarding the hallway parting for your passage.
  24. Awesome Always great to hear of the breakthroughs. I think it's hard for a lot of ppl to imagine what a difference such common foods can make.
  25. I think we all wish the duration & quantity for this was more consistently defined. Understandable though, from the viewpoint of how hard it'd be to get test subjects for a definitively harmful few months. I had an appt a few yrs ago w/ the head of the GI dept at Stanford & he said a half slice of bread/day for a month. I'm sure I've seen others...
