ARCHIVED Acupuncture For Pain/wobbliness
tom replied to Bob4962's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi Bob, I have felt better from acupuncture but making the abdominal pain go away for me req'd finding & eliminating other foods like soy & dairy. I think the "wobbliness" is probably Ataxia. There are more than a few topics/posts in the forum about it. Mine was bad enough i'd be worried about looking so 'drunk in public' that I wouldn't go... -

Ugh Estrella Damm & their "but we remooooooved the gluten" story that they apparently believe, but then again over there they can also call actual wheat starch de-glutened.(?) My Whole Foods started carrying Estrella Damm & I always want to write "not really" next to the gluten-free label, though I'd only seen one celiac review at all & that... -
ARCHIVED I Think I Have Celiac Disease
tom replied to Cortneysmibro's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Forgot to comment on the multi-vit - some seem to have so many ingred it's tough to be sure which is a problem. Also, I've had them act differently depending on how much I ate w them. That said, soy is pretty common in aggravating ppl w celiac. Hope those other issues are improving. Let us know. -

Awesome. Reminds me to wonder how long the US will continue to be the only industrialized country that seemingly has no problem with putting ppl into your position. It stinks. Remember to vote this November, everyone. (Ok not *every*one) -
Ohhhh that's right, lactose too. I've really only heard of goat casein sometimes or often being ok for ppl w/ a cow casein problem, but I don't recall anyone talking about lactose in that sense. Shoot

With the insane exception of powdered "non-dairy" creamer. Or it's not an exception since it has dairy. I've been able to have goat cheeses & was thrilled to find goat cheddar, mozzarella & others besides the classic soft ones. The difference, as I've heard, is that smaller mammals' casein molecules are smaller & I suppose just not...

Ouch . ...Kairreign trying to allhatnocattle me eh? [forehead smacking not producing right phrase] They are distinctive but it would've'adto've been 5 yrs ago. Avia stopped making bball shoes in '07. It was sad. I liked them enough I tallied up 9 Big5Sports stores in 3 states to stock up. Still have new all-blacks & all-whites. Hey shroomie maybe... -

It really was great Lisa. How's your brother been btw? Hehe "never noticed the thumbs"?!! That pic was taken just moments after your intently quantifying gaze left my hand, having been placed on your shoulder just a second before! Pfffft never noticed. -

ARCHIVED Probiotics
tom replied to dmb2151's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I get PB8 at Whole Foods. The green-top one (aka veg formula) is dairy-free. Apparently many probiotics are grown with dairy involved. I don't know a lot about it but when I 1st started probiotics yrs ago I started getting my weird detached "living-in-3rd-person" symptom until I read more & stopped taking those. I don't get that w PB8 green-top. ... -
Another possibility is they have untriggered celiac - which admittedly sounds strange in a "diagnosed as a child" scenario, but I'm a living example. Dx'd in mid-60s, Dr gave Mom the go-ahead for gluten when I turned 5 & there weren't any troubling health issues for decades, until a mid-90s trigger, the death of my little brother. I'd been told I "outgrew...

Yup Don't be too surprised if ADD goes away once 100% gluten-free.

I'm in the bay area too, San Jose here, & had to chuckle at having done this last week w/ a potentially-drippy roast chicken container at Safeway. They had a new (to me) All Natural one. Realizing the ingred list was on the bottom & that simply turning it over would be an instant mess, I was thinking "prob no one else in the store would have...

Argh I'm such a fb newb. Somehow after a hopefuUlly humoUrous paragraph on kitties' cereal, I hit Enter to post & it disappears! No magic triangle of course. And this was AFTER it kept posting fromi though my hitting Enter when I wanted newline. Anyway .. . . .even Toucan Sam made an appearance. I thought Gianknit & Joolz & maybe Pseuzee... -
Sounds like someone who might - however reluctantly - go 2 wks w/out coffee next month if there isn't enough improvement from all the other restrictions. Been there & I loooooooooooove coffee too. At least my hdache was just 3 days, as opposed to an earlier poster's week. At some point, ppl get motivated enough to check. Most boring food in the...

ARCHIVED Intolerent Or Allergic To Something More Than Just Gluten
tom replied to Snafu's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Keep a food diary. Also, trying to eat simpler helps. I ended up mostly writing it w/ a phone keybd, but also used little notebooks. There'd be times i'd read back thinking "wait wasn't I ok last time I ate this?" Only to find I wasn't fine but was leaning twds blaming something else - or vice versa somethingorother. Things can be learned w/ a food diary... -
ARCHIVED Things I've Noticed Since Going Gluten Free
tom replied to Finally-45's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
It is pretty amazing how many "symptoms" we didn't think were symptoms become apparent when they go away w gluten-free diet. I'm usually reluctant to tell non-celiacs that my vision improved & my shoes fit better lol. Plenty of straightfwd symptoms went away, no use talking about extras that seem nutty/dismissable. -

Is this related to your 7500 post milestone? This tests the rigidity of a 'flipover' definition, i'd say. Must it be max flip, as in (n-1) zeroes? Here's to hoping any mud and/or muck is really quite minimal. Oh jeez, already? I've been doing ok, anyway. Maybe 70%ish. Takes as much effort as I have, it seems. But I wanna try to come around... -
