ARCHIVED Spelling / Bad Word Filter
Scott Adams replied to tiredofdoctors's topic in Board/Forum Technical Help
For bad words it is obvious why the filter is there. Some companies' names are changed to "Lame Advertisement" because they have broken our rules and used this forum to advertise their products. For the rest like G.F. or C.D. Open Original Shared Link. Take care, Scott -

ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
Scott Adams replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Please try to keep this thread on topic--it seems to be getting way off the topic that it is in. Much of the posts here belong in the Gab/Chat area--or on a different board. I am happy that there is a stong community here, but please stay on topic because that is what will help people here most. Much of what is in this thread belongs in PM's (Personal messages... -

ARCHIVED Just Got Diagnosed With Fibromyalgia
Scott Adams replied to mythreesuns's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
PS - There is evidence that other foods besides gluten will cause flattening of the intestinal villi--this post is from back in 1998, and the studies were limited to children--unfortunately not much follow up research has been done on this important topic: "There’s a specific note in Michael Marsh’s book about food allergies causing villi damage. That’s t... -

Scott Adams replied to mythreesuns's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hello Mike, I think you've switched to the strategy that if you say it enough times it will be true. Please see below: Did you miss the link to scientific testing for food intolerance (IgG testing - not food allergy) for 113 different foods? Food intolerance testing is now offered by many other labs (perhaps not down there in Uraguay, but maybe... -
ARCHIVED Just Got Diagnosed With Fibromyalgia
Scott Adams replied to mythreesuns's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
The site you referenced does not provide any scientific studies that back up anything that they claim there. I know first hand that food allergies cause depression (as can food intolerance). My son, for example, gets depressed regularly whenever he discovers, for example, that a birthday cake has nuts in it which he is allergic to. The way you quantify depression... -

Do you even read your own references? On the site you posted it says: "General surveys report that as many as 25-30% of households consider at least 1 family member to have a food allergy. This high rate is not supported by controlled studies in which food challenges are used to confirm patient histories...Severe anaphylactic reactions, including death,... -

Hello Mike1972: You wrote: The fact that some people's problems here encompass more than just celiac disease does not discount the real possibility that people with one autoimmune disease are much more likely to have additional autoimmune diseases--in fact they are much more likely to have additional disorders than the normal population. Additional... -

So we agree that the placebo effect is real, although I disagree with your assessment of how great this effect is. Unfortunately based on the limited information given by the people who posted in this thread there is no way for you to jump to conclusions and claim that what they are experiencing is mental, which is what you are implying here. When you make... -

ARCHIVED Just Got Diagnosed With Fibromyalgia
Scott Adams replied to mythreesuns's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hello Mike1972: Sure, the placebo effect is real, and works in a number of ways. You can probably even convince some people with terminal cancer that their pain is less by giving them a sugar pill--but that doesn't mean that they don't have cancer now does it? If you had spent a little more time digging in medical articles you might have found some of...
