  2. You should try to find a ROCK group in your area because there are some teens in those groups and they can help you through this time, They usaually meet like 9 times a year or so, so you can have support frmo other celiacs your age.
  3. I take centrum and I just had my blood tested for CBC and it all looked normal.
  4. I was SUPPOSED to be interviewed for this article, but the woman never called, so I never got to talk about teens and celiac. Oh Well, it is still a really good article. My mom went to a meeting there witht the editors and told them that they should do something on celiac. YAY
  5. One time I wasn't sure about the ingredients so we asked a worker in Whole Foods to find it and then he called the company and told us that it wa gluten-free! I was so amazed! But my family has probablt called over 500 companies over the years, and their knowledge has gotten better as the years have progressd, there are still some companies who don't know...
  6. Good Luck! We love you muchly, and even if the test comes back negative, you know that you have to do gluten free anyway!
  7. I agree with Kati that you have to figure out who your real friends are because if people you think are your friends tell you to cheat, then you know that they are not your real friends because they don't care if you get sick or not. When explaning it to people you have just met, I just say that I have an allergy to gluten and then they realise the seriousness...
  8. I'm almost 15, if you want to talk, you can always e-mail me
  9. Never in 14 years of the diet have intentionaly cheated, except when I was four and at preschool I made a pasta picture w/o realizing, but I don't think that that really counts . Yes I would bet many more asymptomatic people would cheat because they never feel the pain, and they don't know what the diet is doing for them, and don't realize that they are doing...
  10. Yes you could and probably do have IBS also, Even though we celiacs think that every case of it is really celiac disease, it is still a disease and a lot of people have it, yet a lot of people are getting treated for it and not for celiac disease. You should go to your doctor and talk to him about it because they could give you the right IBS medications,...
  11. I would sell them on cafe press, and make them myself so over 80% of the profits would go to the Celiac Sprue Research Foundation
  12. I love this soooo mcuh! I was wondering if anyone minded if I would put some of these sayings on T-shirts and use them to raise money for celiac research at stanford. I would of course tell everyone where this came from! Just some thoughts, I really like them a lot and it would be good for raising money!
  13. if it hurts so much you can go to the ER and they can give you anti-nausea pills and such, sometimes the pain can be from dehydration because you are getting rid of so much stuff, so they will give you IVs and that can make you feel better.
  14. My doctor at Stanford california is also amazing! He actually comes to our ROCK meetings a couple times a year to make sure he knows everything about it he can! He tests almost all the kids who come into him for celiac, just in case! He is so amazing, and he refers newly diagnosed patients to my family because he knows that we have delt with it for a long...
  15. I was 60 lbs in 6th grade about and since then I have grown about a foot, and only gained 30 lbs, They think that my stunted growth was because I was so malnourished when I was a baby before they diagnosed me with celiac. So I am kind of close to 100 YAY!! And yes, I am 5'7" way too underweight.
  16. About your reaction time and different reactions it totaly different from person to person. I know that I get a lot of pain and throwing up when Iget gluten, but that it just me You really need to get all new everything or at least have dedicated gluten-free thigs in the jkitchen. You don't need to make your fiance stop eating gluten, but make sure that...
  17. The last time I used floss, I had a major gluten reaction/anaphalitic shock (I'm allergic to wheat also) So I use those little gold things with the rubber tip, because I know that they are safe.
  18. If you go gluten-free before your testing it will make your villi start to repair and that will mean you get a false negative, which you don't want . Make sure to eat a lot of gluten before the test to make sure you get the result you want. Hope you feel better soon!
  19. I was diagnosed when I was 20 moths old but that was only in 1992, but still I don't remember what gluten foods taste like. Which I think is a plus, because I don't crave it
  20. So I was diagnosed when I was 20 montsh old in 1992 so that would be 13 years+ Long time:)
  21. I can't think of any new now but I will. I love this topic SOOOO much. One of my non-celiac frieds actually thought that it was funny! I was amazed!
  22. NYC is probably the best place in US for celiacs because there are so many there. Shucks I live in California, but my sister lives there There are so many good places to eat and good health food stores. My sister dines at happy happy happy in the lower east village, it is all gluten-free and dairy free. I missed going there on my trip back but she really...
  23. Yes it is because it is really pure, but make sure there is no cross-contamintaion because that could be making you sick.
  24. I was diagnosed when I was a baby but all my hair fell out, and it was really gross according to my parents and sisters.
