  1. Coconut milk, coconut creme-coconut has an oil called MCT oil which does not require digestion. If you had a feeding tube then chances are it would be part of your enteral formula. I use full fat dairy-I'm kind of confused by everybody on the board being low fat actually .... My cholesterol has always been through the floor due to malapsorption so I eat...
  2. I'm so oooollllld I remember when we used to use Certo Mixed with borrage oil. Boy the patients did not like to see me coming with a glass of that.... Borage seed oil never became popular, but it seemed to have good effects.
  3. I live in NC too and the Asian markets I've been to around here everybody speaks better English than me
  4. Oh gracious you are bringing by memories of my childhood. In my late teens while I was in nursing school I used to give coffee enemas for Dr. Bullock, who did elimination diets to treat RA. He's gone but I still run into a lot of his patients. Which is a good sign-that so many of them are still alive.
  5. omg I did not know that. I try to avoid all sugar alcohols anyway, and I clearly remember this was the cheap "generic" barium. Since then, I always insist on the name brand stuff, in the berry not the banana flavor (which makes me vomit). I'm going to have to contact the barium manufacturers before the next test. And I should know to check everything by...
  6. I wish there was a gluten free version of the Gastrointestinal II diet. That is the diet for people who have problems with their digestive tract-soft bland food. Only problem is half of it is white bread The general idea is sound, just take the gluten out Open Original Shared Link Is there a dietician somewhere who has alread come up with a gluten...
  7. Wait till you have to have a prostate biopsy and get back to us on that Little Miss Allergy-there are a variety of tests they can do, some, like bloodwork to check your horomone levels are non invasive. The pelvic ultrasound is kind of invasive (that is putting it mildly) but not that bad-having to have a full bladder is the worst part.
  8. Babyfood can be helpful. Low fat, bland and non irritating . Chicken baby food mixed with white rice is nice a bland and soothing. Have you had a HIDA scan already? Is your doctor unwilling to manage your pain? You have a right to decent pain management, there are perfectly good meds that can help you during this time. Hope things get better for you soon...
  9. Many types of the chalky stuff have a sugar alcohol, I think sorbital, in it. That is great for giving you D. Back in the day I had to have a full abdominal MRI, which with the old slow machines took hours-and I had an accident in the machine. That was lovely
  10. Sometimes a period of tube feeding with a special formula is needed to rest the bowel and allow it to heal. This can be done at home. Have you considered bringing in another physician who will address her symptoms in a more sympathetic way?
  11. Did they use a latex condom on the probe thingy? Lots of people are allergic to latex....I've had that test a bunch of times (I have big huge fibroids and they like to keep an eye on them) they have to make sure to use the non latex probe cover. That test is yucky.
  12. A foothote on the mental health in undiagnosed celiac...My brother is completely paranoid and self medicates with street drugs....he also has the D, weight loss the same kind of rash I had before going gluten-free. While I'm not exactly right in the head myself, he can be violent and dangerious (I'm just doofy ) Whatever it is it runs in our family, as...
  13. Carla, this is the freaky one on the "gluten free" list Open Original Shared Link
  14. Food For Life's gluten free list- Open Original Shared Link and if somebody could explain to me why the whole grain sprouted WHEAT thingies are on there I'd like to know too. I've never seen these products so I know nothing about them. But that looks freaky. Awaiting enlightenment.
  15. Here is the link to show her that celiac and diabetes are linked, however, if she thinks the devil is cursing you your Mom may have other issues. If this sort of odd religious ideation is recent, she may be developing dementia. Subcortical brain damage causes religious persecution ideas. You may want to talk to her doctor about this demon cursing thing.....
  16. lizard00 is 100% correct. Starving is a great way to gain lots and lots of weight, as is yo-yo dieting. Starving puts your body into starvation mode, which means it holds on to every bit of fat. Your are eating so little you are probably in starvation mode, which makes you cold, exhaused....and later, fat. I've been told that lots of celiacs develop eating...
  17. The beef and the three cheese. And I think some they don't sell here-the delimex website is very helpful Open Original Shared Link
  18. I've never had the myers but have had vitamin infusions and I think they are supposed to leave you flushed, sweaty and generally icky. The myers has a lot of B vites, right? Re: Mercola-When you think about it $2700 is not much for two days of tests. I mean, the last time I was in the hospital this spring the total cost was over $30,000 and that was one...
  19. I had to do 100 grams of fat a day for three days before the test and 100 grams a day for the three days of the test. The only way I could do that much fat was to eat whole cartons of haagen daz! Have you had an MRCP with secretin? Or just the HIDA test?
  20. This might be interesting for anyone who is gluten free and still having D Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link QUOTE "Low faecal elastase is common in patients with coeliac disease and chronic diarrhoea, suggesting exocrine pancreatic insufficiency. In this group of patients, pancreatic enzyme supplementation...
  21. I don't know about the lipase levels, how is your fat digestion (fecal fat). trypsinogen is what they usually test. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link I probably need to stick this topic somewhere else, but it seems to relate to ongoing symptoms. Sorry about the lymes My mind is so far gone I'm...
  22. Wow, this is a long thread. Just wondering, did anybody get pancreatic insufficency in here at any point. Its a very common side effect of celiac but does not seem to be addressed on the board much, if my search is any indication. Unless the search feature is wonky, of course. Mercola is a pretty cool guy, do you get to see him for the $2700 or an associate...
  23. (slaps self in head) I thought she was eating those tasty fried potato stuffed savory indian pastries. Of course, I've never even seen a girl scout cookie (which may be a good thing )
  24. If you self diagnose,I think its still important to deal with issues like your increased cancer risk (adenoma carcinona, T-cell lymphoma) osteo, associated autoimmune disease, pancreatic insufficency...liver cancer...you know all the scary stuff that hopefully won't be a problem but somebody still needs to keep an eye on.
  25. Yolo if you're not into flouride, the Caphosol I mentioned has no floride, only calcium and phosphate. Makes me feel like a mad chemist mixing it up
