ARCHIVED Everyone With Fibromyalgia...
curlyfries replied to lizard00's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia about 8 years ago. I was put on prescription Naproxen and something for my sleep ( can't remember the name of it at the moment, but it wasn't a "sleeping pill"). People with fibromyalgia often do not reach the 4th level of sleep ( REM sleep)----someone correct me if I'm getting this wrong . When I started going to the chiropractor... -
ARCHIVED Mom Thinks I Was Cursed By The Devil...lol! Rant
curlyfries replied to Bravie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Just a thought, but I wonder if in some warped way, she's trying to keep you at home, dependant on her. Even though she tells you how evil you are, she just may be afraid of being left alone. Are there any younger sibs? Perhaps she thinks if she can keep you sick, you won't be able to get a job. And if you can't get a job, you won't move out. Of course there... -
ARCHIVED Eosinophilic Esophagitis

This doesn't really answer your question, as I don't know anything about EE, but I have lots of experience with reflux. Before I was diagnosed with GERD, I had the feeling that something was constantly stuck in my throat. This was from the irritation that the reflux had caused. I never really felt nauseous, but it did make me gag sometimes. Since going gluten... -
I was on Prilosec for years, before I knew I had gluten issues. I had the burning in my throat, always feeling like there was something stuck in my throat. I started eating yogurt every day and my reflux went away . If I went a few days without it the symptoms would reappear. Once I started eliminating gluten from my diet, I no longer needed the yogurt...

ARCHIVED Candida?
curlyfries replied to curlyfries's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Yeah, that was one of the things I wondered about. That's why I decided to go without the lemons and tangerines . So maybe I'd be OK if I just cut back? -
ARCHIVED Crunch N' Munch?
curlyfries replied to gretchen's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I thought I had read somewhere that it was gluten free, but can't find it in my notes. But I do believe it is a ConAgra product, and all their products will list any gluten in their ingredients. Lisa -
ARCHIVED Candida?
curlyfries replied to curlyfries's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
BTW, I haven't eaten any tangerines in the last couple days. I also stopped putting lemon in my water. I rarely eat potatoes and I don't like mushrooms. I'm sure soy would be in some things I eat as well as vinegar. I need to go back and re-read my labels. And of course sugar must be in a lot of things. However, I don't eat sweets a whole lot. I intentionally... -
ARCHIVED Candida?

Thanks! I really don't eat much bread, just Van's waffles. I did buy a loaf over 2 months ago and it is almost gone, but I haven't had any in the past 2 weeks. I also limit the amount of pasta I eat (maybe once a week at best). I do eat celery quite a bit and have been eating a lot of tangerines. The only nuts I've eaten are almonds. Are caprylic acid capsules... -
ARCHIVED Candida?
curlyfries posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I have been gluten free for over two months, and dairy free for a couple weeks. About a week ago I started to get a sore throat (not that unusual for me), except that it's not so much the throat as it is near the back of my tongue. I can't see any spots or inflammation. Then I started having problems with burning in my chest and stomach. I used to have a... -

ARCHIVED Biopsy Needed?

Well...that's not exactly all there is to it. For example, barley especially can be hidden in other ingredients like "natural flavors". ARCHIVED Does Gluten Reaction Worsen; The Longer You're Away From It?
curlyfries replied to Ivanna44's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Exactly! I never thought of describing it that way, but...works for me! I used to feel guilty that I couldn't "do it all" but I have come to realize that I'm taking care of what's most important....my family. Don't get me wrong . I'm not a packrat and my house isn't a pig sty, but don't come knocking on my door without fair warning Martha Stewart... -
I'm fairly new at this myself, but I'll give it a shot! Nut Thins are produced in a facility that also makes products containing wheat. I haven't heard if anyone has had CC issues with them. I don't think all BBQ sauces are gluten free, and I don't know about your dressings I'm not real sure about the Campbell's soups---I had their Chunky Chicken...

I often put together my own mixture of nuts, dried cranberries, chocolate chips, cereal, etc. You can customize it to fit whatever restrictions you're dealing with. And it works great for me because I can eat on the run! -
ARCHIVED How Can I Show That I Take Notice
curlyfries replied to nikky's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
To a parent, " I know" can sound like a brush-off. If you're not big on long conversations or explaining yourself ( I was young once and VERY laid back, so I think I understand), just by adding one short phrase--- I read it on celiac.com (or wherever)--- should be enough to make her realize that you've been doing your research. Btw---keep up the good... -

ARCHIVED What Types Of Reactions Do You Get When You're Glutened?
curlyfries replied to blondebombshell's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I know I'm not the only one that started out dealing with celiac by going "gluten lite". I was too overwhelmed with all the restrictions at first and I still didn't have all the information needed to do it right. While I was "gluten lite" there were things I cheated on and didn't feel any effects. Pizza was one of those [but only if it was thin crust and... -

Do you put milk in your coffee? You could have a problem with dairy. I was gluten free for a couple of months and doing pretty good when I suddenly started having problems again. Now I am off of dairy [actually, I think I've figured out that it's actually lactose] and starting to do better again. Also , I am now very sensitive to cross contamination and that... -

ARCHIVED Doc Said I Should Find Gluten Free Sugar....?
curlyfries replied to MELINE's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks for the info on powdered sugar. I had no idea. I've only been gluten free for a couple months , and last week I cleaned out my pantry. [Threw out the flour, among other things] Well, I found 3 partial bags of powdered sugar way in the back [Must have kept buying a new bag every time I needed it for a recipe, thinking I didn't have any.] So when... -
ARCHIVED Does Gluten Reaction Worsen; The Longer You're Away From It?

I so understand what you mean about "lacking clarity", especially when it comes to order in my house. My heart is willing , but when I start a project [i'm trying to get rid of useless junk] I get to a certain point and my mind and body doesn't know where to go from there. I guess it involves a lot of decission-making, and it is too overwhelming for me. ... -

I love those!!! I used to drink them before going gluten-free, but haven't really thought about them lately. Too busy focusing on what to eat and not eat, I guess. I have no idea, but I'll be watching to see if someone comes up with the answer
