A couple weeks ago Verlin (my husband) had to be out of town for five days for a convention. He took a few snack items, and didn't know what they would be serving. There were approximately 1700 people at this convention. Anyway, to make a long story short he ate gluten, he took the breading off some items, he ate some prime rib that supposedly didn't have...

My husband chose to eat gluten free and found out that gluten really bothers him. He does his best, but still makes mistakes. He has had a rash on his back for nearly two-three months. I want to know what DH looks like and if you have a link or picture of what it looks like, I can show it to him tonight and see what he says. Thank you in...

In the March 26th issue of the First Magazine on page 17 there is a short blip about Celiac Disease. The article is entitled "What's Draining Your Energy." It asks questions regarding several other problems but where it talks about Celiac it says: I struggle with diarrhea, gas or abdominal pain almost daily. I have signs of anemia (breathlessness/ weakness...

Okay, about three weeks ago I made a batch of tomato maccaroni soup. I cooked some ground beef, added tomato sauce, Vance's Milk Substitute and Tinkyada Brand Pasta. My husband and I both ate it, and we both got kinda queasy feeling with a lot of vurps (liquid burps). Last night, with it being Lent, I decided to make a tuna casserole. I used Starkist...

ARCHIVED Bourban Whiskey
BamBam posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I was watching Emeril a couple weeks ago and he made some baby back ribs that are marinated in a bourban/apple cider marinade. Can we drink bourban, I know I am spelling it wrong, can't figure out how to spell it, sorry! I need to get to the liquor store in the next couple hours, so if anybody could answer this it would be great. Thanks! BAMBAM -

BamBam posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have a rotten cold/achy body and the whole nine yards. I've been taking some Sudafed for colds but is there anything better? I have a super walmart in my town, I was wondering about Halls' cough drops, cause my throat is just horrible. Thanks for your help BamBam -
ARCHIVED Anheuser-busch Ships Sorghum Beer
BamBam replied to BigRog's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
My husband found Redbridge Beer at our local Super Wal-Mart. He brought it home and said you better go make sure this is the right one. And it is, so I will be drinking my first beer in the last ten years or so! So people, look to your local Supe Walmart's and you probably will find RedBridge Beer by Anheuser Busch. It is made from sorghum and right... -
ARCHIVED The Best Flour I Have Ever Used
BamBam posted a topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I have found a gluten free flour that does not taste grainy or sandy. I bought it awhile ago and just started using it for my holiday baking. I made pecan pie squares and I have literally eaten the whole pan! Tom Sawyer Gluten Free Products 2155 W Hwy 89A, Suite 106 Sedona AZ 86336 Toll Free: 1-877-372-8800 www.gluten... -
Ever since I started taking Rainbow Light's Multi Vitamin (gluten fre, dairy free,) my urine is really yellow. Usually after I drink some water it isn't so bad, but I was just wondering if a vitamin could do that. BamBam

I read somewhere on the board here where those that have a gluten sensitivity are more apt to have the deppresion, anxiety, manic feelings than those that have celiac disease. Celiac disease are more apt to have the stomach discomfort, diarrhea etc. I am a self diagnosed "celiac" so maybe I should say I am gluten sensitive, since I've never had or...

ARCHIVED Many Doctors Are Not Supportive Regarding Celiac
BamBam posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
One of the reasons, and a big reason, why doctors do not look at anything for celiac/gluten intolerance is, there is no money in it for them. If a doctor diagnosises you with Celiac Disease, the only treatment is a gluten free life, no drugs or scripts can be taken for it. They can't fill you up with Nexium, Prilosec, Lexapro, anti-depressants of many sorts... -
ARCHIVED Questions?!
BamBam replied to lax87's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Marco, What you are feeling and going through right now is exactly what I have been going through off and on for the past twenty years. I finally learned that being gluten free is exactly what makes me feel better. Several years ago I was so down on myself that I had to be hospitalized for a week or so to make sure I didn't do anything to myself... -
I also learned the hard way and I will give you the same challenge I got from anothe gal here on the board- the challenge is basically "do not eat it unless you know it is safe." In the past I was eating things that you would think would be gluten free that were not but so many pre packaged things like sauces have wheat added as thickeners. Even a lot of...

How about a nice gift certificate for the place they love to eat dinner at? That would give them a nice evening out sometime when there days are full and hectic. Bernadette -
I don't remember the brand of the turkey, it is one I got as a gift last year from where I work. I had the same brand the year before and I called on that one and it was okay, so I like I said, I didn't even call on this one. I pretty much cook and bake everything at home and my husband is also gluten free, so no chance of cross contamination at my house...

Very seldom do I get diarrhea when I am glutened. I usually get extreme anxiety and fears and my joints usually hurt to but not all the time. I am just now going through some kind of gluteneing, and I don't know from what, I think it was my turkey, but anyway, I have severe anxiety/fears and they usually start a day or so after and last about a week. ...

I'm starting to think I got glutened with something over the Thanksgiving Day Holiday. My depression and anxieties are going over board today, and I am not sure what I did. Do any of you get depression and anxieties from getting glutened. I never even paid attention to my turkey. Richard has always said he has never seen a turkey with added gluten, so...

Could I get a couple of you to give me some meal ideas for weight loss. I spent the first part of the year eating sugared cereals (gluten free) and eating Rice Dream Ice Cream, I've put on about ten pounds. I need to loose ten-20 pounds and I have no idea how. I quit eating the sugared cereals and the rice dream ice cream. I find it very difficult to...

Some of our bowel problems I think are from introducing all of these new gluten fre flours and ingredients to our bodies. I know I get bloated and gassy whenever I over do it on gluten free mixes/pachaged things. I feel so much better when I eat meat, veggies and fruit. Very rarely do I get any gas when I stay with naturally gluten free things. Some people...

I just wanted to wish everyone a happy thanksgiving. I have so much to be thankful for this year, and I am sure we all do. I wanted to thank all of you for responding to my questions and problems over the last couple years, special thanks to JenVan and Tarnalberry for getting me going on the right track! Thanksgiving Day will be spent with my husband...

It seems like whenever I eat a lot of pre-packaged gluten free items such as pasta, cookies, bread I get a yucky, bloated feeling. On the days I eat naturally gluten free items, I seem to feel okay or better. Does this happen to any of you guys? BamBam

I am self diagnosed after years and years of tests with no end test results. I was told it was all in my head or it's IBS or it's stress. I'm so sick of doctors that I just take care of myself. I am the only one that knows my body and what it can and can't have. I am gluten free and dairy/casein free. It is so important that I stay away from these things...

ARCHIVED Gluten Ataxia (only)?
BamBam replied to tiredofdoctors's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I have read every word of this thread with great interest. I'm at work and every break I have been able to take, I am reading and reading. I too suffer from an ataxia that is genetic, my father was handicapped and we went to a children's hospital when young and they told us it was all genetic, live with it. I started having intestinal discomfort... -
ARCHIVED Stomach Motility/bile In Stomach?
BamBam replied to allison's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I had bile in my stomach also, but it is because I don't have a gall bladder and the bile, instead of going through the body it was coming back into the stomach causing pain and almost ulcer like feeling in my stomach. I had an EGD done and the doc put me on Reglan, and that helps take the bile out of the stomach so it doesn't sit there and cause problems...
