  3. Just some ideas to add to everyones replies...of course cc is scarey in a non-gluten-free kitchen as others said... easy to be gluten-free: fruit salad jello with fruit fruit tray veggie tray spaghetti..be sure all ingredients are gluten-free (store bought meatballs may have wheat) tossed salad deviled eggs ice cream...not cookie dough...
  4. You can laugh at this one but its no joke I was in jeans and a t-shirt all day in the garden. Dosed up with eucalyptus. No mosquitos all day. I went in to shower at 5:30. Put silky basketball shorts and a t-shirt on. Sprayed my arms and legs with eucalyptus again. Went outside to plant one more tomato plant in the garden. Was sitting down alot of the...
  5. Can you buy rice, etc. and grind your own flours?
  6. Here is a college thread but you may need to double check any products since this is from last year: Open Original Shared Link
  7. Try this fast bread/bun: https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/index.php?showtopic=56641 There are lots of tips/alternative ideas on how everyone tried theirs...I recently tried it with no cocoa powder and added a handful of cheese. One large egg + 1/4 cup of 'powder' in a greased cereal bowl=1 bun
  8. Thanks for the info, I don't have any B's but I have been taking a multiple. I had to resort to off and the eucalyptus...at least it smells good. Even put a dryer sheet under my head scarf I get several bites a day darn things. My dd got 7 bites in 20 minutes. I will be sure to start the B early next year before the squitos are out, thanks for the tip!...
  9. What I do is this, I use sorghum mix in most everything except I don't bake breads much, but the ones I tried call for millet and sorghum, like the english muffins. Many on here use brown rice flour. I used to use the rice flour mix but thought it was a bit grainy or sandy so I switched. I still use rice on occasion for some things like today I made Oreos...
  10. Has anyone tried the new OFF clip on? I saw it advertised today on T.V. I am tired of getting eaten by those mosquitos. The eucalyptus keeps them off my skin pretty good but they swarm around me till I go crazy and have to come in like right now! ugh!
  11. Chrissyb, I had to try it. I used this favorite recipe: Open Original Shared Link also found here: Open Original Shared Link I used real butter, sorghum flour mix, 1 3/4 cups chocolate chips, 1/2 cup chopped nuts and 1/2 cup Bob's unsweetened coconut. Results: I thought there was too much choc chips (and I love choc!), it over-powered the...
  12. I just dug through my cupboard and found a bottle of lemon eucalyptus repellent I bought last summer at Walmart for my dd. I forgot I had it. Thanks!
  13. Yeah, I have been reading about crop rotation, companion planting, family planting and planting for heirloom seed saving. Nice to know about your cherry toms I hate cilantro but my dh and dd like it. I always put green onions in our salsa for color and seasoning. I bought 1 cherry tom and my mil gave me one so we'll see what happens.
  14. Perfect recipe...could be called garden soup b/c I am growing all those veggies and will use the green onions. THANKS for sharing! Great idea about the cherry toms. I will watch where I plant them so I can see seedlings growing next year, thanks for the tip!! I have a raised bed ready for toms and the rest I will plant in various spots...I can put the cherry...
  15. Sounds like a great garden...so those things reseed? Very interesting, will have to try one of those next year and get some asparagus started then too. Can you share your recipe for roasted tomato soup??? My dd is gluten-free/df and hates canned tomatoes. She LOVES tomato soup but organic is like $3 a can so I wont buy it. I want to make her fresh roasted...
  16. I would just add coconut to your favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe. Also if you have coconut flour on hand you could use just a little of it in place of some of your gluten-free flour mix...may need to add a bit of water if dough is too thick. I tried the flour in brownies once and I could taste the coconut...but didn't like it in the brownies. I would...
  17. Update on how my garden is doing. I have recovered from digging up the whole thing with a shovel and chopping all the clods after the sod was tilled. I see why first time gardeners need to start small whew! The good thing is I now know where all my muscles are...I get new sore ones everyday! Outside: I have 2 baby peas that popped up through the...
  18. I had some of the lotion about 25 yrs ago...forgot if it worked or not...many swear by it...thanks! I will need to hunt for an avon lady in this tiny town...there is one here somewhere
  19. I have some of those I never use...will try them tonight when I am outside...thanks!
  20. Great ideas...Thanks
  21. I was wondering what you use for insect repellent that is non-toxic. Or any tips to keep those mosquitos away??? I was told not to eat bananas. To rub basil leaves on your skin. What about after bite? We always put rubbing alcohol on ours to stop the itching. Any other ideas would be very welcome!!! THANKS!
  22. One dough makes one thing, not both at the same time. Drop by spoonfulls for cookies or spread it in a pan for bars.
  23. I just made 1 and 1/2 batches of these for a graduation party and we gobbled them up! Open Original Shared Link I use only 1 cup of chips and add 1/2 cup chopped nuts. 1/2 recipe in an 8x8" pan takes 25-30 minutes and be sure to use room temp eggs adding after the sugar and cocoa so the melted butter doesn't cook them...I just put them in a bowl...
  24. Today I grabbed Karina's recipe for Vanilla Brownies thinking it was her recipe for Peanut Butter bars. I got the dough all mixed up and remembered to add the peanut butter which was not on the recipe...duh...wrong recipe! So I made the Chocolate Chip Cookies instead...wow...really good. Just use the same recipe as the Vanilla Brownies. Gluten/egg...
  25. I use this flour mix for all my muffins: 1 1/2 cups sorghum 1 1/2 cups cornstarch or potato starch 1 cup tapioca flour adding xanthan gum then add in either sour cream or applesauce to the recipe I have recipes for: Chocolate, Oatmeal Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter Cup, Lemon Yogurt Poppy Seed and Pumpkin Chocolate Chip.
