  1. You can scoop "everything" up with tortilla chips...very quick and easy. I buy Mission, round ones. They don't break as easily. Get creative, no need to buy/make bread or cook pastas. Sloppy joe, taco meat, bbq chicken, rice and beans, chili, egg/tuna/chicken salad... add some tomatoes and green onions...yum! Eggs are cheap. I can make 2 Albacore...
  2. 1. I put it on a paper towel after removing it from the dish to absorb moisture 2. To me, the cake in a mug was eggy, I don't like eggy taste 3. The brownie in a mug was really good and no egg
  3. 4. Thanks for posting and for caring. Kids really have alot to deal with. It's so sad they think life can't be different for them. They get stuck in a rut and go deeper, seeing no way out. God is always the answer. I will pray that God will turn this tragic situation into something good and for comfort to those that are hurting.
  5. I used this recipe the first time with Pamela's cookies: Open Original Shared Link Now I prebake cookies* and keep in the freezer, using this recipe: 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 cups cookie crumbs (depends on the size of dish) 1 to 3 T. sugar 1 to 3 T. melted butter Melt butter in pie dish, add crumbs and sugar, stir/mash well with a fork. 7. I have tried nuts and flax in the coffee grinder. I use little rice flour but I will try it. Thanks for letting us know it works. With almonds, I ran them through a nut chopper first. I don't have all the machines...just the basics- blender, crock pot, hand held mixer, nut/onion chopper, coffee grinder...so its nice to hear other ways work well. Thanks for...

  9. I never, ever thought I'd be saying this...horse manure is nice stuff...for the garden. Organic, free and it has a purpose now! I have lots of old, dry, black stuff with night crawlers in it...YAY!

  11. Will garlic grow if I plant it in the spring or do I have to wait until fall to plant it? Thanks
  12. My dd recently told me she had chapped lips and if she used "lip stuff" they got more chapped. She has had canker sores before but only a couple of them. I will take more notice of both from now on. Same with her skin, if she uses lotions, they bother her skin as if she has drier skin. Also she has had oily hair recently. When she ate gluten it made her...
  13. I hear you! I am sore and stiff too, been falling into bed at night. I read that you can burn up to 400 calories, per hour, gardening. I have been hungry every 2 hours it seems so it must be true. We can't plant for another month. I already broke a rake good thing we just bought another one 2 weeks ago.
  14. If interested, here's a recipe for sorghum egg noodles, I haven't tried it yet Open Original Shared Link
  15. Update. I think we have pin pointed the cause. When my dd recently had wheat a couple of times, her head itched. All that scratching caused her sebaceous glands to secrete more oil. This past week she hasn't had any wheat and no scratching...no greasy hair. Yay!! Just shows she needs to not cheat. She's not celiac but still needs to be gluten-free. Also found...
  16. Hi, my dd, 17, is gluten-free/v, she's gluten intolerant. Vegan for almost 1 year. I just made english muffins-plain and cinnamon-raisin, for her. I thought they were great. Recipe posted on the baking section under Wonka's reply. Millet and sorghum are the flours. If you need any specific recipes I will try to help. gluten-free/vegan can be challenging...
  17. So how deep do you till the soil esp. if it still has sod? I have read anywhere from 4-12 inches, depending on what you are planting. Some say remove the sod to the compost pile and others say just flip it over. We had it tilled several inches but I think it needs to be deeper and also to dig up more weed roots. Lots to learn...Thanks!
  18. Thanks Janet! It's seems like I am learning something every 5 minutes. We are putting up a chain link fence today. I am gathering dirt, horse poo and some pine needles too. Glad we have another month of prep but wish I could see those veggies growing.
  19. What are some early veggies we can plant. We are still having frost. Our planting is not supposed to be before June 1st in our area, except last year people planted the week before that. And what families are best together/apart like cabbage and broccoli near each other or in the same bed. I read to keep some apart if you are saving seed for next year. Lots...
  20. Wonka, I just made the english muffins...easy, fast, and delish...I put fresh strawberry freezer jam on mine Thanks again for the recipe!
  21. I was thinking of adding a little oil. Nut/flax flours have oil and the other flours are drier. I think the original recipe was made with nut/flax flours. Also use a large egg, not medium. My dd made a hamburger bun today and it turned out great! She had a medium egg so she added a little water.
  22. I read that about the pet hair. We have deer in the fall but our garden will be fenced well so I might try that if they somehow jump the fence. We have to keep the horses out of it. I've been saving my egg shells but now I will save them for the tomatoes-thanks for the tip.
  23. Thanks for more great tips. I put some loose/dry manure on the garden spot last night. Now I understand the difference, thanks for the clarification. I watched some "how to plant a garden" videos last night. They are very helpful. They showed the straw on the potato beds. One video showed pole beans for those that have limited garden space-that's a...
  24. I finally made this today...and its really good...you can come to my house for dinner now!
  25. Hey we can both plant our sunflowers together and watch them smile on our gardens
