  1. Hats off to you. I ate everything! My favorite place was the Rancho Viejo- Mexican restaurant. I would order things with corn tortillas, beans, rice... I put deli meat in the microwave...lol My OB said salmon was ok at a max of 1-2x per month. (I craved watermelon all the time!) Have you considered a Greek salad? --Is feta cheese ok? I think...
  2. Now I know why I start to itch every time I use the 7 day scrub! I wonder if the Dramatically different moisturizing gel is safe... Now I need to check my lipstick!!! Thanks for posting this info!
  3. Usually modified food starch (unspecified source) is usually wheat. You should probably call to find out. I usually go for something that is clearly labeled. Hope you feel better soon!
  4. You could try some hydrocortisone on the rash. My son had the same problem (before we knew it was wheat/gluten) and we found that olive oil soap (Kiss my face) worked best. I use the lotion also. It has oat extract- ds can tolerate oats. HTH.
  5. Amen! That's been a life saver for our family. I also visit the produce section for sweet potatoes, and what ever is on sale at Kroger. We even eat chili in the summer cause its affordable. Utz chips are gluten free (it says so on the package:) You can make stir fry, various gluten free casseroles. I make my own "hamburger" helper using Gluten-free...
  6. I wasn't sure where to post this... My older son is 9 yrs old. He is 4ft9 and weighs 70 lbs. He's also had some delays in gross and fine motor skills. He has not gone gluten free (myself and little brother have) due to fact that dh thinks its too expensive. He has very frequent bm's and also eats ravenously- but never gains weight. I can feed him...
  7. I can't imagine how difficult it must be. My prayers are with you. Get your dh to the docs office. Maybe having the doc explain things would help.
  8. I think I will be eating pasta and pB &j!
  9. Have you considered cloth diapers? (100% cotton?) It really helped us get rid of what must have been DH, shortly after ds2's diagnosis. You don't even need pins anymore! (You could last try "mama cloth")- lol My other ds had few runny stools while getting his molars. I can't be sure if it was molars with ds2 since I think the sitter was feeding him stuff...
  10. I am excited and concerned at the same time. We are going to the beach for July 4th. (Kure Beach, NC). I will have a kitchen in our cottage but I am not sure what to bring. I need ideas from seasoned travelers. Ds is allergic to wheat/gluten, eggs, nuts and both of us are allergic to shellfish. I won't go near/inside a seafood restaurant! Last year...
  11. I have a 2nd hand bread machine. I purchased a separate paddle etc. for Gluten-free. So far no problems.
  12. I usually cook from "scratch" and freeze leftovers or take them for lunch the next day. I make salmon or tuna salad and have it with Gluten-free crackers, soup, chili, pasta with different sauces. I don't know how you feel about daiy but yogurt is nice also. Sometimes I make quesadillas, or taco salads. If you don't want to spend a ton of $$$ up front...
  13. My baby/toddler does mostly fruits (and a few )veggies. Bananas, mangoes, melons, pineapple etc. We leave Gluten-free cereal in the church nursery for him.
  14. Nope, we're all A+.
  15. My son was placed on a wheat free diet at 8 mos. He could eat rice cereal or Gluten-free oatmeal. There's a great recipe on allrecipes.com for Gluten-free pancakes. He eats a lot of bananas, avacados, black beans and rice (I make it like a casserole with rice on the bottom layer, beans (drained and heated) with salsa, and cheese on top. He also eats sweet...
  16. I have no idea what's up with the ob. I am just not listening to them anymore. My last pregnancy got very complicated due to asthma, caused by reflux, and intrauterine growth retardation. I just won't mention being Gluten-free anymore.
  17. You definitely made the right decision. I had many problems with my pregnancy (most likely gluten induced) and my ds was born via c/s at 33 wks. No one should have to leave the hospital without a baby. Additionally, one morning before I went to visit ds in the NICU I had a gallbladder attack. Guess what I ate for breakfast: a banana and some raisin bran...
  18. I just love the crock pot recipes. We have multiple allergies (shellfish, eggs, and nuts). I only cook one meal so dh and ds1 have to eat Gluten-free. Chili Soup (I have a great recipe for borscht- good veggies) I just made up a recipe for Gluten-free chicken casserole and tuna casserole. Beans and rice Pancakes for dinner (found recipe on allrecipes...
  19. Thanks! I am going to Target today!
  20. What does a normal toddler stool look like? I am not sure since my 2 yr old son still has some foul stools with little form. He has been gluten free since 4/07. When he was cutting his molars he had D for 2 wks. I think the sitter was slipping him gluten about 3 wks ago, he would have these stools (3-4 times a day) with slimy mucous over and over...
  21. DH and i are considering a little one. The questions is what supplements/vitamins did anyone take? I will probably go a few rounds with the OB about going gluten free but my last pregnancy was a disaster. I want to make sure I have some great Gluten-free vitamins and a enough folic acid. Thanks!
  22. It's tough. I can't imagine how it must be in college. My husband takes us to his friends house and they didn't have anything that was Gluten-free. And he forgot to tell them about our son and myself!!! I don't get upset. I now take all of my own food or invite people to visit me. I have turned people down for other invites before my diagnosis. I...
  23. I will buy only Bob's Red Mill they have both the steel cut and the rolled oats. My 2 yr old and I eat it regularly. The rolled oats make great cookies. They go for $5/bag.
