ARCHIVED Wow, People Really Don't Get It...
cmom replied to samcarter's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Reminds me of my MIL...instead of saying "I made this really good _________, but I know you can't eat it!", it's "This is really good, but I know you WON"T eat it." She thinks I do it to get attention or to get people to feel sorry for me. She never will use the word "CAN'T" -
ARCHIVED Gluten-free And Symtoms Have Gotten Worse.
cmom replied to sarabmore's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You may go a long time and feel great eating gluten, until one day, you begin not feeling quite right...it continues until you finally go to the doctor and they discover that you have intestinal lymphoma in an advanced stage. What then? -
ARCHIVED Trying To Keep My Cool
cmom replied to mirabella's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I could write a book about the things my MIL has said or done to me...but she has never said she was going to kill me!!!! I think your daughter did the right thing by saving the recording and contacting the police. My mom also had to deal with my MIL who was very overbearing. She would not let my mom be alone with my boys when they were little without... -

ARCHIVED Zucchini Bread Recipe - Wow!
cmom replied to Emily Elizabeth's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
One of my husband's co-workers gave him 2 zucchinis and I was just going to substitute the flour with Bob's Red Mill All-Purpose. BUT, I found this recipe and it is true!!! This bread is awesome!!! Better than gluten version, IMHO. My husband loves it and so do I. I am limiting myself to no more than one piece a day. It does not have the gritty taste... -
ARCHIVED Everyday Minerals - Great gluten-free Mineral Make-up!
cmom replied to Mango04's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
For anyone who doesn't know this: Just found out after a live chat that the old site is totally gone, no longer accessible. However, if you do prefer paying by check (as I do), you can total up your cart and print it out and then send it with your check. They will still accept that form of payment. Special won't be up until Tuesday, so I'm holding off... -
Went to new dr. Did complete blood workup to try and figure out why I am continually gaining weight, have swollen feet/ankles, and pain upon rising after sitting for 30 or more minutes. Bloodwork was perfect. He believes my metabolism has slowed way down even tho I am not even 50 yet!!! I believe after being malnourished for so long, my body is holding...

ARCHIVED Is Gluten Free Really Possible
cmom replied to swilliams's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I don't believe it is possible to be 100% gluten-free. 96%, maybe. It is impossible to prevent coming into contact with gluten all of the time. We do the best we can to avoid obvious gluten situations, but we can never know who has touched things before us and what was on their hands. Nor, what may have happened at the manufacturer of a product, even... -

ARCHIVED How Do I Get To The Old Site?
cmom posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Don't know if I've missed a post about this or not, but I placed an order a few weeks ago and have never received it. I placed it from the old site. At that time, there was a link on the new site to get to the old one. I just went there to see if I could track my order and could not find a link. On the shipping info page, it stated that no personal checks... -
ARCHIVED Neg Bloodwork, Neg Biopsy, But Diet Works
cmom replied to Katsby's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
A GI doctor that tells you that you can add gluten back in if it's too restrictive? What a gem!!! Must be a member of the "Don't have a clue" club. (Sorry, I'm a bit jaded when it comes to the medical profession.) -
I have tried for over a year to find gluten-free yellow cake mix in the health food stores. I even looked at WHole Foods the last time we were in Nashville, TN and they didn't carry it. I did order the Cause You're Special brand online once, but that gets expensive. My question is: I have several recipes that I would like to adapt to gluten-free that...

ARCHIVED Who Has The Best Cake Mix

There is a gluten-free angel food cake mix that tastes like the real thing, but the brand has escaped me....brain fog acting up. -
ARCHIVED How Do You Handle Vacations?
cmom replied to slmprofesseur's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
When our boys were 11/12 yrs old and wanted to get into camping, my husband (out of concern for me) opted to buy a motorhome so I would always have access to a bathroom. It was an older model but it really cut down on stress for us...me getting there in time and him trying to find a place with a restroom while traveling down the road. When we are on vacation... -
ARCHIVED Everyday Minerals - Great gluten-free Mineral Make-up!
cmom replied to Mango04's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Placed a new order today. Tried to do it on the new site, but it does not have the option of sending a check or money order as the old one does. I have always placed my order and then sent a check. Had to go to the original site to do that. Hmmm....If anyone is interested, I ordered Fairly Light Neutral Semi-Matte foundation, Email Me blush, Start to... -
It's ok to throw yourself a pity party once in awhile. Usually, I am fine with being gluten-free, but there are times when I tear up when I'm very hungry or tired and away from home and can find nothing to eat. My stepson is getting married in November and his fiancee sent me the delicious flavors of cake that will be at the reception, but none for me....

ARCHIVED Any "lost"-aholics Out There?

If I'm not mistaken, Sun giving birth and Jin getting the panda were two different time periods. Sun giving birth was after she got off the island, and Jin getting the panda was when he was working for her father and trying to "suck up" to another businessman who had just gotten a new baby (pre-crash). If I'm mistaken, someoone please jump in and correct... -
My periods were very erratic, sometimes skipping as much as 3 months. When I did have them, they were accompanied by severe cramps. After going completely gluten-free, my periods are very regular and the cramps are not nearly as severe.

I totally understand where you are coming from. Twenty-five years ago (pre-diagnosis), I suffered a miscarriage and I truly believe celiac was to blame. Two months into my pregnancy, I began to have severe cramps every once in awhile. I didn't think this should be happening, but wasn't sure since I had never been pregnant before. Finally, one night I...

I'm not sure. My feet hurt daily, sometimes so much that it's painful to walk and I hurt alot for the first minute or so after getting up after I've been sitting for 20 minutes or so. I mentioned it to the doctor, but once again, got the condescending smile and that was it. I'm only 48 and wonder if I hurt this badly now, what will I feel like after 5...
