  1. I sincerely hope you get the answers you need. A bit of advice - after diagnosis, be TOTALLY gluten free. Don't be like I was and cheat here and there. It took me a couple additional years to feel as good as I do now because of it.
  2. I often wake up hearing music that isn't there. Have done this for many years.
  3. After reading all these posts and my own experience, I get so angry that doctors do not listen and pretend to know about issues when they really know nothing. And don't even get me started on the "all your issues are stress-related" thing. I was sent to a psychiatrist for my celiac issues!!! Sorry, just needed to vent and sympathize.
  4. Welcome! I have heard Schar makes some of the tastiest gluten-free products there are!
  5. I am also a Christian and am thankful that I do not have something worse than celiac. I have my bad days when I am very tired and hungry and can find nothing to eat when I'm away from home, but always able to come back to the realization that others are suffering much more than me. I thank God for helping me accept the fact that I cannot eat certain things...
  6. My husband is very supportive and good about trying to explain my deal to others (sometimes to the point where I'm sure they've heard enough). Sometimes, though, he does get a little annoyed like if I say, "I can't eat that potato b/c your bread was touching it," or something to that effect. I think it's just b/c it wears him down just like it does those...
  7. Yes, people often forget the vows they made, or they weren't sincere when they said them. I had worked in my job for about 6 years, when I was given a new duty of riding the special needs bus. This route lasted 1 1/2 -2 hours and went out through the country where there were no public restrooms. I did try to do this duty until I started getting sick every...
  8. My 2 dietician appointments were totally useless. She told me that I could eat Rice Krispies and when I asked her about the fact that it contained barley malt (and this was after being newly diagnosed), she said she really didn't know. I have found out much more helpful info on the forums and through my own research. Doctors haven't been much help either...
  9. My prayers are with you, Shay. My stepson had a brain tumor (and 2 cysts) when he was around 15. Once it was discovered, they operated within the week. He is fine now (age 36) and just got married Nov. 15. Have faith and think positive!!!
  10. the best of luck. It is miserable being sick all the time, with no apparent answers. Hope this will do it for you.
  11. and Hallelujah!!!
  12. You are very fortunate to have a doctor who listens to ALL your symptoms. I have had mine tell me, as well as the receptionist, that certain symptoms are not related to celiac and some other doctor would take care of them. Symptoms such as sinus problems, headaches, etc. It really ticks me off, but don't know of another good GI in the area.
  13. Very cute Pomeranian!!!
  14. I know that the stress of not where the closest bathroom is, inevitably makes me have to go!
  15. I used to not be able to eat popcorn on an empty stomach, or still if I eat too much I get the big D.
  16. Twizzlers are NOT gluten free! In fact, it is very hard to find a gluten free licorice as most contain wheat. I love red licorice and have never found a gluten free version.
  17. It took me approx. 16 years to get diagnosed. Even after that, I would cheat here and there, depending on how much I wanted whatever it was. Finally, one summer about 7 years ago after being sick for nine days straight, I said, "THAT"S ENOUGH!" It took that nine days of big D and other ailments to finally convince me that it was the only way. I made...
  18. Don't remember seeing a recipe anywhere for gluten-free panini bread. Anyone have one? (If it's been posted already, I apologize!)
  19. I have had one waiter and chef come out and speak to me about my gluten-free requirements and that was at the Aquarium Restaurant in the Opry Mills mall. It was a breath of fresh air to have someone understand not only gluten-free options, but also the whole cross-contamination thing.
  20. I have also been there and the owner is very aware of the dangers of cross-contamination and takes one day a week just to make the gluten free crusts. He will also airmail them to you at home, but said he feels very bad that the cost is so prohibitive. He will also vacuum seal the pizzas for you to bring home if you have a way to keep them cold.
  21. I'm also so sorry! I know how much pain ONE canker sore can cause, let alone that many! My son has had 2-3 at a time and barely able to eat. I have given him the L-lysine to take when needed.
  22. ...or when the GI dr tells your oldest son that sinus problems really have nothing to do with celiac disease and when you call for an appt for your youngest son, and the receptionist asks for his symptoms then tells you, "headaches really have nothing to do with celiac disease; he should see another specialist for that."
  23. You're exactly right! AND I get so tired of seeing the words "natural flavors" on everything without any further information .
  24. We went to Nashville over July 4 and I visited Whole Foods, since we don't have one close by home. I stocked up on everything I can't find in the health food stores here. Some of it I put in the RV to have when we were camping. Two weekends ago, when we opened the refrigerator, it was warm and everything was thawed out. The temp in the freezer was 70...
  25. Just ordered Deep Tan foundation in original glo (hope it's not too dark for me), Everyday Bronzer, Start to Finish Sunlight, Lavender concealer, and the new foundation brush...We'll see what happens!!!!
