I also continue to pay for a misdiagnosis. About this time last year, I broke my foot. I was fairly certain it was broken due to pain and swelling and I have had other broken bones (possibly due to my osteopenia). Anyway, my dr. xrayed my foot and told me it wasn't broken and gave me a shot through the top of it saying i probably had a neuroma.. I made...

ARCHIVED Starving / Bloated Belly
cmom replied to au natural's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I am very bloated as we speak. The scale also says in the past 24 hours I have gained 4 pounds. Even after losing 11 pounds over the past 2 1/2 months, my clothes do not feel any looser due to the bloating. Disgusting! -
ARCHIVED Fyi: American Celiac Disease Alliance
cmom replied to Turtle's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
This would be great if dieticians were up to snuff on celiac. However, in my experience, they are not very helpful. Advising things such as eating Rice Krispies are acceptable and when questioned about the malt, they have no idea. It was a waste of money for me and my health insurance. -
Unfortunately, man has warped many of the ideas that Jesus taught. I have seen this in every religion that I am familiar with. Some man in a high office of the church hands down decrees of what is acceptable. I believe God must shake his head at the misinterpretation of his laws. If I can't find a biblical basis for a church rule, I ignore it. I honestly...

I remember speaking with a forum member from Evansville a long time ago but now cannot remember her name. I highly suspect my son is celiac and he attends colllege there and he may soon be in need. I took him to my hospital lab about a year ago and was adamant about them running the full panel. They made note of it and sent it off to a bigger lab at another...

ARCHIVED Liver Cause Of Celiac Did Anyone See This Site?!
cmom replied to Webcrystal's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yeah, several years ago when no one could find a cause for my misery, I was sent to a psychiatrist. When I told him I couldn't afford him (just out of college), he sent me to his assistant. She proceeded to tell me that maybe I just needed to be myself and quit shaving my legs and armpits to please people (WHAT!!!) She said that's what she did. From there... -
I hve several recipes that call for gluten-free yellow cake mix. Went to the health food store yesterday and they had chocolate, spice, vanilla, white, devil's food, etc. but no yellow cake from any brand of gluten-free company. Does anyone know what company makes it or have a recipe from scratch? Thanks!!

I really like the Boomi bars and they say gluten free on the label -
I also had a miscarriage pre-diagnosis. I went through labor and the whole bit at 4 months, but there was no baby. It took me about 2 years to get pregnant again.

ARCHIVED "im Wheat Free... But Wheat Doesnt Bother Me"
cmom replied to VydorScope's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have a coworker whose husband also has celiac. One time she told me she bought him some really good bread and she would get me some if I liked. I told her sure. Long story short - when she brought it to me, it was spelt bread. I told her we can't have it and she said that her husband ate it all the time and the doctor (HIS GI DOCTOR) said it was fine... -

ARCHIVED Anxiety As A Main Symptom?
cmom replied to GravStars's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I also had anxiety before going gluten-free. Along with this, I experienced night terrors. If I heard a noise in the house, I imagined all kinds of things were going to happen. I still suffer from the bathroom anxiety, but the other symptoms are gone. -
I can eat one apple with no problem. However, once I had some really delicious ones and made the mistake of eating two and like Ian said, it definitely was not pretty

ARCHIVED Need Help With Toddler And Possible Celiac Disease
cmom replied to sarahjo's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Doctors really anger me!!! I was the typical celiac taking at least 12 years to diagnose. Besides that whole scenario, I broke my foot last August and the doctor told me by the xrays it wasn't broken. I told my husband it had to be (had same foot broken before). Dr. finally sent me to foot specialist and voila, I was right. Took about 15 weeks to heal... -
ARCHIVED Do You Eat It If It Doesn't Say "gluten-free"?

Just a note that there is a new type of Cheetos out that I was going to try. When I read the label, it said "oat something" in the ingredients. So be careful! -

ARCHIVED Speedy Reaction Question
cmom replied to CMCM's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Before diagnosis, and after becoming very sick, my first symptom after eating would be burping this foul, gross, rotten egg taste. The taste and odor was horrendous. I came to learn that once I started doing that, the D would kick in sometime soon and I would spend most of the night in the bathroom. Since becoming seriously gluten-free, I have not had... -
ARCHIVED Frustrated With My Mom's Dr.....
cmom replied to wolfie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I understand how frustrating it is for doctors/labs to ignore your requests (as if they're paying for them)! I asked my nurse practitioner to order the full celiac panel for my two sons, which she did. I put a note on the orders requesting the full panel and my sons also reiterated the request at the lab. They had to send the blood off to another lab who... -
ARCHIVED Are We Never Going To Be 'normal' Again?
cmom replied to danikali's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
No, speaking for myself, I will never be normal. Better, yes, but not "normal". Normal, to me, is being able to pull into any restaurant on the spur of the moment and being able to order from the menu. Normal is not having to know where every bathroom is within 70 miles and not worrying about making it to your destination. The list goes on. Having said... -

Thanks for trying to help, guys. Hadn't thought about the Funyuns. Don't know if they'd get too mushy when baking or not but I think I might try it. -
