  1. i can only tolerate the gluten-free Nugo bars... that's it... everything else kills me because of fructose. **just double check what you're getting- because Nugo makes regular gluten bars too- only 2 of their bars are gluten free
  2. ive developed Fructose Malabsorption over the last 2 years (before i went gluten free)-> in fact, ive noticed issues with pears over the last 2 years. and Peanuts & some legumes-> i have had issues and have avoided for my whole adult life- way before gluten free... they rip me up.
  3. i read somewhere weeks ago- that Candida had a similar structure to gluten and that it could trigger Celiac/ or the reaction in your small intestine that damages your villi... so MAYBE when any of us have Candida- maybe it awakens the antibodies & pain??
  4. i think that "Nutritionist" is way overdue for some CEUs
  5. im sorry you're hitting a rough patch- i can relate in some way.... i actually feel quite fine now with Celiac and eating gluten free and with whatever reactions people have. However-> i am starting to hit a rough patch because of all the ADDITIONAL food intolerances... now THAT is getting real old .. it would be super fantastic if removing gluten...
  6. you mean "silent" as in asymptomatic right? if you tested positive- it is still ACTIVE even tho its silent. please stay on this forum and soak everything in-> there is a wealth of information on here- and plenty of reasons why you should go gluten free even tho you are not suffering stomach wise. Celiac disease can cause so so so so so much more...
  7. i cant eat Lara bars at all- because of the high fructose content in the dates. i can handle the tiny bit of dates or raisins in the gluten-free Nugo bars- because its a smaller amount- but not the Lara bars- its too much
  8. those lab results look really vague and confusing to me too...??? what is the "IGA" reading positive-> is it Tissue Transglutamase IGA,or Antigliadin IGA?? and the "Immunoglobulin A at 16L"- is that maybe a "Total IGA Serum" ???? im confused and back to her doctors blaming it on "Attention"- that infuriates me. she's not faking her soiling drama...
  9. wow, i like your doctor
  10. i know it is- that's why i included in parenthesis that i have intolerances to corn products.
  11. the biopsy as the "gold standard" is the "in the box" thinking of our medical system today. if biopsies run at least a 20% negative, then they cant be the end all be all answer. most people on here would say the "gold standard" should be how you feel on the diet. (but then again, most celiacs dont even have gut symptoms, so that wouldnt be an accurate statement...
  12. maybe u should google fructose malabsorption- i avoid dates, raisins, pears, etc... the pain & bloating is quite miserable.
  13. i think i may have issues with it (as i do have some intolerances to corn products). i get nauseaus sometimes when i have any cola or Publix iced tea (the only constant is caramel color). is that what some people feel with it?
  14. OMG! every 2 weeks?????!!!!!! good God, i really hope they figure something better for u- that WOULD be so traumatic- i would hate that so much i hope u find some better way of dealing with it! xo
  15. i would love to- ive read recently that it specifically helps Celiacs with fatigue! but im in the process of getting my thyroid meds just right- and i read that it can drastically affect the thyroid numbers. it's supposed to really help! let us know if it does!
  16. all i know about Hemochromatosis was that they THOUGHT my brother had it... he went in several times for testing.. then they finally had to say that they guess it was just a fluke. that he didnt have it. was it a firm dx for u?? my brother does not have Gluten Intolerance as far as i know- but he does avoid Wheat and feels better (no joint pain). and...
  17. i dont know about spasms... but if i have too much fructose, or too many fructans i feel like im getting a bladder infection. and in the past when i ate more than a little gluten, i also felt like i was getting a bladder infection. i have a really sensitive or small bladder- and im wondering if its Interstitial Cystitis that is pretty much gone when...
  18. always a great idea to get a copy of the results and learn about them yourself- they often dont order a complete panel, or they may miss something.
  19. are they Canker sores??? because that is yet ANOTHER classic symptom of Celiac.. im assuming they will heal up after being gluten free for some time
  20. weird that it gave her CRUMBLY/DRY results-> i keep getting ridiculously GUMMY crappy results- no matter how little i use- im starting to think there's a conspiracy- and that people dont really use Xantham even tho they tell us to. i dont get it. would i get better results with Guar? hhhmmm
  21. google Fructose Malabsorption & the FODmap diet-> it's helped me a lot- i have to avoid many of those foods. other than that- take a look at the most popular culprits: Dairy, Corn, and Soy. and some of us have issues with Legumes & Beans
  22. congratulations!!!! and pay no attention to that Wii thing!!! it told me that i was like an elderly person & horribly out of shape- all because of my horrible BALANCE!!! whatever- ive danced my whole life, mostly in shape & fit... do u have flat feet or fallen arches like me?? or maybe i had balance issues cause i was still eating gluten... ...
  23. not sure what u mean by genetic abnormality- but whilst reading your post, i cant stop thinking about my own issues with additional food intolerances.. is that what you're maybe thinking of??? ive had a LOT of ANNOYING & sometimes Dehabilitating Abdominal pain & gas lately-> and i know i have not been glutened- because i usually get itchy...
  24. gluten always gave me HORRIFIC constipation. i think its definitely a possibility for your kid to have it, especially reading about your symptoms. also keep in mind the other twin could have it and be asymptomatic (as most Celiacs ARE asymptomatic). like everyone said above- false negatives are common with blood tests AND biopsies... you also need to get...
  25. wow, it sounds like u have a really great openminded doctor! that's great that despite your positive on the crohns antibodies, that he still is considering celiac. from everything ive read, regardless of your celiac dx or not-> that Gluten/Wheat can cause crohns. so, that is great that he's on top of it. keep in mind that biopsies can still be false...
