  1. i agree with this post. i mean i really hope it's not true.. but i did read recent articles suggesting it could be possible for gluten to be in some dairy- because it has been found in breast milk. i hope it's not the case- i do buy grass fed dairy products when im at whole foods- but they dont have grass fed everything.. or when im out like at starbux, i...
  2. i think this makes total sense.. even tho it was a small group- i completely believe it- it makes sense that roughly half of Celiacs may have similar reactions to corn while others are completely fine. i ate gluten-free corn bread & dressing for days over thanksgiving- and i seriously feel like i did before i went gluten free.
  3. i actually have a lectin blocker pill from a doctor that i will just refrain from naming. it has 2 of your ingredients (N-Acetyl Glucosamine, and Fucus Bladderwrack) i feel better when i take it- but it can get pricey, so i dont take it regularly. yours however also has the D-Mannose (which my personal favorite doc has said gluten has an affinity for...
  4. they never bothered me before going 100% gluten free. a couple of weeks ago-> they make me a little itchy in the spots where i had DH. i didnt notice any gut discomfort at all... but ill just pick different gluten-free crackers next time
  5. kay & jason- arent our genetics so interesting??? i wish they would give us our genetic map when we're a kid. in Italy- they test you as a baby for Celiac genes, then you can eat accordingly &/or follow up to see if you're developing it. i wish they did it here- if so, i could have avoided gluten for most of my life and would be free of some...

    ARCHIVED Joint Pain

omg, im sorry alice- because corn is in everything- it's in my advil, and gum, and meds, etc, etc... i am ok on these small amounts above- but too much corn flour, and dextrose, and HFCS, and HMCS and im SICK. i hope someone can help u... can you find Glucosamine in plain powder form??? i haven't taken it in years i dont remember.
  7. does your dad have diabetes Type 1 ? it's often linked with Celiac & Gluten intolerance. many of these autoimmune genes are linked.... many of us have additional autoimmune diseases as do some of our family members. and yes- your daughter could have celiac but not be underweight or short. good luck and welcome
  8. i completely agree. i was only sharing what puts the weight on me. i completely agree that everybody is different and requires different diets

    ARCHIVED Joint Pain

ya... maize is corn. some of us have problems with it- while others are just fine. its not the same as gluten- but it MAY be an additional food intolerance for you. ive learned after this past thanksgiving- that i should also be avoiding corn. 4 or 5 days of cornbread left me feeling like i had had regular gluten (from wheat, rye, or barley) for 1 or ...
  10. i dont know what exactly you're going to need with your sedation tolerance... but most people have a very pleasant experience while just under twilight. i did not have the endoscopy- only the colonoscopy. my procedure itself was less than 30 min. so im assuming your doc means the whole complete process with prep & recovery would be almost 2 hours...
  11. wow- i just cant relate to the "losing too much weight" posts on this forum all i can share is what keeps me from losing weight- and that's complex carbs & sugars. grains, rice, sugar, etc. all those healthy fats & proteins actually help me lose weight. altho- i would think that coconut bliss ice cream could help u add weight maybe. if i...
  12. i could be wrong- but this makes sense to me- lately from reading on these forums-> im starting to believe that the antigliadin antibodies are antibodies we make to attack the gluten. & that the ttg & ema are antibodies our bodies make that attack our small intestine & skin (dh & possibly psoriasis & excema). so- just because you...
  13. wow, im impressed- i love that your doc did his routine endoscopy and took biopsies of the small intestine... seems like some just skip that. in my non-doctor opinion- i would assume you were a Celiac with a false negative blood test. that's just my opinion because of your symptoms & the villi blunting. maybe now- you should experiment with...
  14. i just love it that the docs "RUN ALL THE TESTS" but never test for Celiac so beyond annoying to me... they should ALWAYS test for it if you have the kind of complaints YOU have... OR the doc is looking at ANY autoimmune diseases... as a layman- i would guess you had Celiac or Gluten Intolerance, Hypothyroid (possibly Hashimoto's), Adrenal Fatigue...
  15. interesting points (from the members... i havent read the article)... i feel like i have to read EVERYTHING with a healthy dose of skepticism... even stuff written by doctors & scientists.. everybody has a different opinion- and everything is so skewed by the corporate machine. i actually read an essay on NPR the other day that was very biased &...
  16. im assuming you dont have health insurance? or are you like me- i have catastrophic insurance which is basically the same thing... i just have a huge bill i pay off little by little every month.. if you're like me and you need some sort of diagnosis- the easiest thing may be to first post a pic of your rash here- if it looks like DH- then u could get a...
  17. omg wow- if u go on google- there's a ton of recipes for flourless choco cake- tyler florence, emeril, jaimee's got several... i used Jaime's from his 1st book- the one with sour cream in it.. im pretty sure it's gluten free as long as u use a gluten-free pie shell wouldnt it be nice if we all could get together for a potluck, everyone on here seems...
  18. oh i totally understand denial and going back and forth on gluten... and wanting a diagnosis to motivate myself.. but if you really have DH- then that's more than enough proof to knock u out of denial- only Celiacs have DH.
  19. i would assume being on a gluten free diet would possibly give you a false negative on your tests. i mean Celiacs go back for testing after eating gluten free to see if those numbers have gone down- right??
  20. did u say you were gluten free for over 3 months before testing??? that could most definitely make your test results inconclusive- yet-> your antigliadin antibodies look to be positive. and your ttg antibodies look negative. im not your doc, but i would say you are at least gluten intolerant. btw- looks like you have a pretty good doc- i cant believe...
  21. 1st- your iga number of 52-> i take it that's your number from the Total Iga Serum test?? mine is always 60. your doctor is right- you shouldnt worry- it's really not a big deal. it SHOULD be above 80... all it means is that your immune system isnt as up to speed as most people. as long as you eat right and take care of yourself- you're going to feel just...
  22. is the CF really making an allergen menu?? or at least labelling their items gluten-free or not?? that makes me really happy & isnt caramel coloring from corn??? that was my understanding from reading on these forums... but i could be wrong... & i also didnt think they added caramel color to balsamic vinegar??? hmmmm
  23. sorry you're allergic to nuts.... i second "helpme" - there's nothing better than a flourless chocolate cake!!!! my sis in law just happens to like this particular recipe with almond flour- but ive seen several recipes that are flourless- AND YUMMMM... do u have problems with dairy??? i like to use a jaimee oliver recipe for flourless choco torte- and...
  24. not sure if there's a link... but before this last July when i went 100% gluten free- i actually went on & off a paleo/bloodtype O/atkins diet since 1998.... and everytime i got back on (removing wheat & other carbs)- for the first 2 weeks- i would pee A LOT more, sometimes waking up in the middle of the night to pee- i think its just detoxing &...
  25. so cool that she opened that store to provide - but i do not "get it" when people talk about "trying to find a cure" ?? we already know the cure
