  1. Hi MSFL, first I welcome you here onto the board. I'm not an American either and feel for you. I am a German citizen. I just imagined being in this situation and imagined my husband would leave me (which I hope he never does). I think I would be as good as dead. You maybe already read it on here, but celiac disease can be triggered (or worsened...
  2. Hi Ursula, that's sad. I'm so sorry. Sometimes things just happen and it hurts even more, when you find out what the actual problem was and that it maybe could have been prevented. We can just hope for the better and bigger awareness and that other people find out what they are suffering from before it's too late... Hugs, Stef By the way: Ich...
  3. That was really weird what happened to me today. I don't know, if you guys have heard about the books of Celestine's Prophecy. I already read them almost 10 years ago and found them very interesting. And now, that the first Celestine movie will come into the movie theaters this spring I thought I kind of reread the books and work with the exercise books again...
  4. That's what I'm saying, too. She also had to vomit, when she reintroduced gluten. So she HAS symptoms. I had a hot discussion with her about this today and I think, she might consider glutenfree anyway. If not, I will call 24/7 until she gets it. I want her to be healthy. It's not her time to go yet...
  5. Hi guys, this is so cool. When I found out I had celiac, I also talked with my in-laws about it. Especially with my mother-in-law. And I told them, that celiac is genetic and that I believe, I have it from my mothers side and that my mother has it from her mother. I think so, because my grandma had a lot of celiac symptoms and she also had diabetes and...
  6. Hmmm, that sounds very much like CC. I guess I better don't go there then.
  7. Haha , my best friend waited until she was 24 and then she got her license. And that only, because I told her, if she was gonna take over my martial arts school, when I move to the states, she needed a driver's license and a car to get there. After she passed the test and drove for a while, she said the same thing: "Why did I wait so long? This is really...
  8. Wow I will try the Chilis, too, then. Here in Carlisle a Chilis just opened. Since so many people are for it I might as well give it a try. I was wondering every day, when I passed it, if we could eat there. Hugs, Stef
  9. Hi Lisa, I think nobody in here intended to pressure you to get your driver's license. Even if it seems to you now, like you have no talent or skills to drive. I bet a lot of us drivers thought that upon learning to drive, including me . But after a while we got the hang of it and it is really fun actually. Think of all the fun things you could do,...
  10. I pretty much replaced everything I know of, that I ate before, that had gluten. But one thing, that I couldn't replace yet (and that I was crazy for before) was KitKat, the chocolate wafer. Oooh! Ummm! Didn't find anything, that came close to it so far and I really really miss it... Oh, and french bread. The long stick of bread, if you know what I mean...
  11. It's waaaay better than a mammogram . And you can even joke with the nurse . Btw, when my mother visited me in the states in September 2005 for the entire months, she lived glutenfree with me the entire time. On her flight back home she ate normal. I think, it was a pasta soup and at the airport going through customs was the least of her concern. What she...
  12. I agree with Laura. I'm not sure what the answer is either. It's probably a combination of all advices mentioned. But the most important thing is, that you make YOUR own decision. From us you can just get a view ideas (or our opinions) of how this decision could look like. Like for example I moved out with 17. I never got abused physical, but my step...
  13. What? Who? Where? Did I miss something there? I didn't have any pain . Your mom is right, it doesn't hurt at all. I had it done, because I needed a physical for the world championships and my doctor recommended it. This way we where sure, that my bones would hold pretty much. There are two known tests (what I know about at least). The old one...
  14. They also mentioned that there is no known cure for it yet...
  15. Hi there, I thought, I finally come back into this thread and write a summary and a couple of little neet stories from the worlds and at the end you will know, how my avatar came to be . The entire November trouble is over, the holidays are over. I have time to breath. Don't worry, I'm not going to bore you with a couple of more training days I just...
  16. Sweet Wow, I just saw the number, too. I guess, that shows how much we desire to find somebody famous raising awareness for us.
  17. This is a great idea. I will do the same with our Appalachian Food Store. I already printed out the article. Thanks!
  18. Throw a couple of stripes of bacon into a pan until crisp. Put them onto a paper towel. Cut a potato into stripes and throw em into the remaining fat of the bacon strips (in the pan). When done, also put the potato strips (french fries, whatever) onto a paper towel. When the fat is in the paper towel, put the french fries first onto a plate, then take the...
  19. Weehee! How cool! It's so nice to see improvements, congratulations! Don't forget the potty party
  20. I just looked it up on Yahoo. It's actually called Behcet's disease and was first discovered about 200 years ago in Turkey. Nobody really knew about it then of course. The name "Behcet's disease" it actually got (if I can recall it right) 1932, when they found out that some of the main symptoms were mouth and genital ulcers. Very interesting... Hey, I...
  21. Hello George, this is a very nice article. I especially liked this: The disease is common, affecting up to three million Americans. It wasn't always like that. "Common" Not that I wish this disease on anybody, but "common" makes it easier for us
  22. Boy, do I know that. But either I didn't have this before glutenfree or I didn't notice it. Maybe brainfog. Last week I ran into one of our doors of the kitchen drawer that we left open to "defreeze" the pipe. I forgot that it was open and ...bang! Ran against it straight forward. Hit the shin and the knee. Boy was I rolling and cursing on the floor. The...
  23. Well, I quit my police job when I had all that pain in my forehead and belly, because I thought that stress caused it. It didn't help though and about 5 years later I found out I had celiac.
  24. ? Wow, and I thought I p... some people off .
  25. Hi Becky and Ta, welcome to our board. You might have already read it. But just in case you didn't. You can still have celiac, even if the tests are neg. A negativ test can't rule celiac out, but if it's positive, you know for sure, you have it. Hugs, Stef
