ARCHIVED Found This On Another Message Board
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to stef-the-kicking-cuty's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yes, I know and I already apologized. I just don't think it's a good idea anymore for me to hang out there. Maybe anybody else does it. I sure don't want to be a prick and if anybody askes me for help i sure won't say no. But on my own i'm not doing anything anymore. I'll stay on this message board here, where we know each other. I'm just sick of helping... -

I also think, that it's a good idea of working together for people with allergies and celiac. I already apologized on the other board. Well, i wanted to help and really don't want, that one of them ends up like the one woman with over 144 food allergies that mostly got healed after she got diagnosed with celiac (or was that on the german message board?).... -

Thank you all for your very good responses. I couldn't have said it better! But instead of repeating everything you said, I just will put a link to this thread. I think that will be fine with you guys . But the mother that literally exploded, isn't the mother that asked fortunately . The mother that asked for help was alwayslearning2. And you're right,... -
ARCHIVED Suggestions For Bread Machine?
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to himslim's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Oh, i forgot some other information, about the breadmachine, i bought. Well, there's a little window on top, so you can look at the different stages. That's really interesting . But if you want, you can also walk away. That's absolutely no problem. And the time with the ExpressBake setting is 58 minutes . That's funny, because it counts the minutes backwards... -

Hey there, today, I have another little problem and I didn't know, where to put it. If it's wrong just put it somewhere else. I just thought, it would fit good in here as "Coping with ignorant people" . This was actually a stupid coincident and now I have a problem and don't know how to deal with it . OK, well, since I help german celiacs who... -
ARCHIVED If Visiting Toronto, Go Here
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to Canadian Karen's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Thanks Karen, if i make the way to the National Team , i will be in Toronto in November this year. Do you know about some other gluten-free Restaurants or health stores there? If it's again there, where it was 1998 it will be in the Meadowhale (sp?) Converence and Resort Center where the Canadian Olympic Team already was, too. I don't know, which part of... -

stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to mela14's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi Mel, even if your gluten-free drug list isn't updated, it will be right, because in drugs they don't change the ingredients, as of what i heard. So when it's not gluten-free once, then it's always not gluten-free and also the other way around. So you can be pretty sure, if it's not on the list, then it's not gluten-free. I hope you get better soon... -
ARCHIVED Suggestions For Bread Machine?
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to himslim's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Hi himslim, my MIL gave me a breadmachine last year christmas. And this one is great (i don't know about other ones...lol). It's from Sunbeam brand and the model number is 5891. If you want to make gluten-free bread with that you have to chose the ExpressBake setting number 6 (for 1.5 lb) or 7 (for 2.0 lb). With this setting I use the All Purpose gluten... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Substitutes
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to ockham's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Unfortunately i don't really know how to help there. The only thing I can help you with is your question about the oat. I have heard, that with the celiac disease we can't have wheat, rye, barley and oats. So oats is a no no, too. Greetings, Stef -

Hi Kaiti, cool , where is that lady with the gluten-free bakery exactly? Hagerstown isn't far from me. I live in PA and it's only about an hour. And that's it worth driving for me. And i'm in Maryland and some other states around a lot of times anyway . Greetings, Stef -

stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to deener's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Hi Jill, just read your word about the allergen bill and thought i throw my two cents in . Well, you guys know, that in Europe a lot of countries already have such a law. And in germany every manufacturer has to wright it on the lable until no later than (i think) november 2005. And now some manufacturer are already starting to put "May contain traces... -

stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to deener's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
That's what i thought already, too. That with the crumbs on the bunless burger, because they use the same countertop and touch it with the same gloves . Now you made my decision a lot easier to stay away from that. But i still will keep on eating the french fries at Micky D's. Thanks!!! -

stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to VegasCeliacBuckeye's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I agree with you there. It's nauseating how they prepare it . And it has a lot of calories and fat, too. But still, if you really DO sports and not only SAY you do sports, then weight problems shouldn't be a problem. Hugs, Stef -
ARCHIVED Glutenfree Menus With Us Airways?
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to stef-the-kicking-cuty's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Thanks Patty, my head is swelling now . But what i forgot to tell. It just popped into my head, while reading your answers. In 1998 i flew to Canada (from Germany). 1998 i wasn't on the gluten-free diet yet, since i just was diagnosed last year. And the flight to Canada was about 9 hours, too. And there i had really severe knee pain (i almost... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Restaurant
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to Deby's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I know what you mean, MySuicidalTurtle, and you're right. A lot of business people think like that. But it's us people in the "non-funky" areas, who have problems with getting gluten-free food in a restaurant or cafe. And it would be nice, if here would be gluten-free cafes or restaurants, too. So that we don't have to drive 50 or 100 miles to get something... -
ARCHIVED Portland Area Restaurant
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to kejohe's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Hey there, in Portland are also Outback Steakhouses (6 alone there as of what i saw on their homepage). Open Original Shared Link They have the gluten-free signs on their menu as well. I ate there already 4 times since going gluten-free and was feeling well all the time. Hugs, Stef -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Restaurant
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to Deby's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Hi Deby, i would make it completely gluten-free as well, if I were you. Just because one restaurant didn't work, doesn't mean, the rest isn't working, too. And I wouldn't go into a "funky area", like somebody posted on here. In "funky areas" are already enough gluten-free things to get. It's the people in other areas that need it... I think, a... -
ARCHIVED Glutenfree Menus With Us Airways?
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to stef-the-kicking-cuty's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Hi all, so here's my US Airways experience. Hell, that was a trip. I'm not only telling the story about the glutenfree meal. You have to hear the entire airport story about getting our plane as well. It was just hilarious, when I think about it afterwards. Well, the last days, before we took off to germany it was pretty chaotic at home. I was so... -

Hey there, i also heard that, too. But honestly, i already thought so before i heard it, because i heard the story about why we have celiac disease (but don't know, if THAT story's true though). Well, I'd like to eat: a good ol' german role of course mozzarella sticks Hawaii toast (toast with ham, pineapple and cheese baked over it) chicken...

1 Yes 2 No, but my grandma had diabetes and my aunt has it, too. Both never tested for celiac, but my grandma had most of the celiac symptoms. 3 Female Good luck, Stef

ARCHIVED Just Had Mcdonalds Breakfast
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to VegasCeliacBuckeye's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I didn't see "Supersize Me". But I have to say, that McDonalds or any other fastfood doesn't make you fat, unless you sit on your butt all day or have a disease (like elefantitis or something), where it's impossible or hard to lose weight. And that's not a disease that we all share . Before I found out I had celiac I ate regularly at McD, too . And in...
