  1. So far, I've done well with wines. I don't do red, but that is because it gives me headaches. I am going to do some research on the unoaked wines. Just wondering if anyone has tried the organic wines.
  2. Thanks for posting. I love brie, but haven't had it since going gluten-free. I'm ready to try some soft cheeses again.
  3. I wanted to post my new test results since so many of you are on thyroid meds. Also, I was not tested for antibodies. Do I need to do this if the treatment is working? Also, can you test once you are already on the meds? I was re-tested and here are the results: TSH - .05 (range: .45-4.5) (below normal now) Free T4 - 1.1 (range .8-1.7) Free...
  4. I bought some at Costco. It was vacuum packed and of course, real lump crab meat. It tasted fresh and was delicious! I can't remember the brand though. I'll ask hubby if he remembers.
  5. OMG this sounds so good! I wonder if you can make it without the pie shell - just put it in a pie plate? Anyone know?
  6. I think it depends on the theater. I live in Arizona and called Harkins Theaters. They told me their popcorn is gluten free and is made with canola oil. I ate it and felt fine.
  7. Thank you all for your advice and expertise! I've been on vacation for the last 10 days and I'm just looking at the forum again. I go to the doc next week and will see how the blood test came out. Shay, I had them test my ferritin levels this time. When I was first diagnosed, my ferritin level was only 8. I'm sure it has improved since then. Shay...
  8. Janet and Shay, thanks for the replies. I did call the doc, but waiting on a call back. Shay, they did not test my Ferritin, which was really low previously. I e-mailed my doc about this to add to my bloodwork when I go on Friday. I believe they tested for iron - what would that test be? Also, I did not see a test for cortisol. Would it actually...
  9. So I go to the doc and found out that I had low T3 and really high estrogen. So she puts me on 30 mg Armour twice a day, T3 8 mcg (this is compounded)- twice a day, c-progesterone titurates 50 mg - twice a day, DHEA 10 mg - once a day. At first I felt lightheaded. That pretty much went away. Now I feel anxious and my heart rate is accelerated. My pulse...
  10. Sending lots of positive thoughts and prayers your way.
  11. Unfortunately, I never found one. I made a few calls, but nothing panned out. If you end up finding one, please let me know. Do you have a family doctor you go to that knows about celiac?
  12. Has anyone tried SinuCleanse? It came with a neti pot. I used to use this before gluten-free. Anyway, I called the company to make sure it is gluten-free. The customer service rep did not know what I was talking about when I asked if it was gluten free. She asked "is it free"? I said "no, gluten free. Free of gluten. Do you know what gluten is?" ...
  13. Mike, I had many of the symptoms you have and very little GI symptoms. -- Terrible brain fog - didn't even realize how bad until gluten free --Nutritional deficiencies - very low ferritin. --Lack of coordination during episodes ("Gluten Ataxia"?) - I felt like I was leaning to the right. --Considerable fatigue - still have but recently starting...
  14. RiceGuy, What brand of B12 are you using? Thanks.
  15. VioletBlue, Thanks for the quick reply. I went on Snopes and read what it said about Canola. I feel better about using it now. I've never had a problem with it and have used it for about 15 years. I'm still excited to use the sunflower oil - should be good with popcorn. I'm going to go make the brownies. Thanks again.
  16. Ok all you experts out there. There's at least a half a dozen of you that could write cookbooks! (I'm so jealous SickChick and Purple, just to name two) I read recently that Sunflower Oil is supposed to be really good for you and that Canola isn't. I've used Canola for many years but have read bad things about it on this forum (I always thought it was...
  17. The natural route is the best way to go if you can. If that doesn't work, I believe alprazolam (xanax generic) made by Mylan is gluten free. To be sure double check on this forum. There was a thread about it fairly recently.
  18. I use Desert Essence Organics BodyCare lotion. Comes in many scents - I like the almond or Vanilla Chai. It actually says Gluten Free on the back! I get it in my local health food store (two 8 oz bottles for $10.00.) WholeFoods sells it, but it's twice the price there. I use many of the Desert Essence products. I believe the line is gluten free...
  19. Yum! Sounds good and looks easy.
  20. Jessica, I was thinking of you and hope you are safe. I have family and friends in the Houston area. They lost power last night around midnight. They headed for Austin. I'm sending positive thoughts to you.
  21. Here's what I did when I was first diagnosed. I bought the book Living Gluten Free for Dummies. Very easy to read and gives you the basics about having celiac. I knew absolutely nothing about it before being diagnosed. The next thing I did was call the grocery stores and see if they have a gluten free food list. Safeway has one. I'm not sure where...
  22. Has anyone tried any of these snacks? I love the reduced fat chips! Just wondering if anyone knows if their snacks are made on dedicated lines? What are your favorite Michael Season's snacks? So far, I've only had the potato chips.
  23. I went to Chili's in Lewisville, TX in May of this year. I ordered the hamburger without the bun. It came with the bun. I told the server I could not eat just remove the bun since it had touched the meat. Server looked at me like I was just a picky eater. Then the manager came over to say how sorry he was and that they would make me another hamburger...
  24. Thanks for all the replies! I think we may go this weekend. I love their Caesar Salad and haven't had it since going gluten-free. I have a craving for it and no I'm not preggers, just miss it. Ginghamkim - thanks for the info on the soup. Would not have thought of pasta falling in. AMQmom- I'm not sure I understand about the pan. Do you ask...
  25. Thanks Momma Goose. I'm so excited to have one more place to go!
