ARCHIVED A New Weight Loss Support/accountability Thread
Jenny (AZ via TX) replied to lonewolf's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I want to join this group too! I would love to lose about 25 lbs by Christmas. I know I need to add more protein, but I can't stand any of the shakes. What is everyone doing for breakfast? Right now it's usually yogurt and a banana because it's so easy and I'm not that hungry in the morning? I need to get some protein in there, but what? -
ARCHIVED Help! Coated Tongue?
Jenny (AZ via TX) replied to Jenny (AZ via TX)'s topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thanks ShayFL. I read the article and I'm going to start with a tongue scraper. I really hope it's not a yeast thing and because of all of the probiotics I take in addition to the yogurt, I can't imagine it would be. If the tongue scraper doesn't work, I guess I'll add more probiotics and the grapefruit seed extract that Carla mentioned. I just hate... -

ARCHIVED Help! Coated Tongue?
Jenny (AZ via TX) replied to Jenny (AZ via TX)'s topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
The probiotic I take is called FlorSmart by Renew Life. It was formulated by Brenda Watson, CNC. Anyway it has 10 strains so hopefully, it will kick in. I will have to cut back on the sugar. I can't believe it. I've only had one yeast infection my whole life. Also I eat yogurt (Stonyfield or Brown Cow) every single day. -

ARCHIVED Help! Coated Tongue?
Jenny (AZ via TX) replied to Jenny (AZ via TX)'s topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Carla, Thanks for responding. I sent a reply previously, but something happened with my computer, so hopefully there won't be two. I already take a probiotic that has a proprietary blend of 24 billion CFU. That's pretty high. Do you take more than that? If so, what brand are you using? I had never heard that coating of the tongue could be fungal... -

My tongue has been coated for a few weeks? Anyone else have this? I've been taking mega probiotics, but it's still coated. -

Jenny (AZ via TX) replied to Ridgewalker's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I'm in! Anything I can do easily and don't have to think about too much is great. I can't believe anyone could think to do this. My husband will also be happy that I am cooking again. Thanks! -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Cosmetics/shampoo/etc?
Jenny (AZ via TX) replied to leadmeastray88's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I definitely use gluten-free shampoos and such. My shampoo is by Desert Essence (I get it at the health food store), but Neutrogena makes some as well. There is a list on this forum of Neutrogena products that are gluten-free. I use Neutrogena Foaming Cleanser. I am switching my moisturizer from Olay (not sure if gluten-free) to one by MyChelle which... -
ARCHIVED Crumbs In The Butter?
Jenny (AZ via TX) replied to Juliebove's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
That article is so gross! At least now I won't be salivating over the bread and butter sitting on the table in restaurants. -
ARCHIVED Grrrr.......blood Test Results
Jenny (AZ via TX) replied to ohsotired's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Crystal, My CRP was very high right before I was diagnosed. I had infection and inflammation in the small intestine. After antibiotics and another CT scan, by CRP came way down. Keep pursuing this! PS Hope the colonoscopy went well this morning. -

I have only been gluten-free for a very short time. Do I need to heal more before doing this? -

ARCHIVED Cantina Laredo
Jenny (AZ via TX) replied to Jenny (AZ via TX)'s topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
You just ask for it when you go to the restaurant. It's printed out, so you don't have to worry what's what. I live in Arizona, so I don't know if they all have the menu, but I would think they would. You may want to call first and ask for the manager. We go to the one out here quite often and never a problem. -
ARCHIVED Food Intolerance Testing
Jenny (AZ via TX) replied to holdthegluten's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I've been wanting to do this as well. Can't our doctors (Allergists) run the test or are they (the tests) too specialized? That way, insurance will pay. Has anyone gone to an Allergist or their family doctor to have the tests run? Just wondering. -

ARCHIVED Origin Of Celiacs?
Jenny (AZ via TX) replied to C'smum's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Wow, it looks like there's a little of everything here. I'm mostly French, then Spanish and a little Irish and Welsh(sp). My gastro asked me if I was Irish. -

Thank you so much for the suggestions. This will make my visit much happier! I always get a little anxious traveling not knowing if I can find somewhere to eat. -
ARCHIVED Cantina Laredo
Jenny (AZ via TX) replied to Jenny (AZ via TX)'s topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I will let you know when I go to one in Dallas. It will probably be around the end of the year. Also I will try to PM you if I can figure out how to do this. There used to be a Cantina Laredo in Addison off of Beltline. Also one further north I think off of North Dallas Toll Road (maybe around Frankford?) -
Anyone know of a good dietitian in Scottsdale, AZ? So far, I haven't found anyone that specializes in celiac (or knows a lot about it) and my gastro told me not to bother if they didn't. Thanks.

ARCHIVED Cantina Laredo
Jenny (AZ via TX) replied to Jenny (AZ via TX)'s topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Sorry, but I haven't been to any of the ones in TX. I get back to Dallas 4-6 times a year and I'm going to try it on my next visit. I think Cantina Laredo started there. I love going there because I love Mexican food and don't have to worry about every little thing there! I don't know what part of Texas you are in, but there is another restaurant that... -
I will be going to Michigan to see a doctor there and would love some suggestions on where to eat. The doctor is in Birmingham which is pretty close to Detroit. I'm not that familiar with the area, but there seems to be a few cities in the vicinity. Thanks!
