ARCHIVED Arrhythmia
Jenny (AZ via TX) replied to mirabella's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I also had arrhythmia before I was diagnosed. It scared me so much I went to a cardiologist (heart disease runs in my family). I wore the heart monitor for 24 hours which showed I had a few skipped beats, but that all was OK. I have only had that happen to me one time since being gluten-free and it was very brief, not like before. Also, my BP is better... -
ARCHIVED Feeling Frustrated And Frazzled
Jenny (AZ via TX) replied to Live2BWell's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Hi Jessica. Here are a few other places: Pei Wei and Outback. Ask for the Gluten Free menu. Also, I believe, but you may want to check to make sure they have a gluten-free menu, Carrabas and Carinos if you want Italian. Have fun! -
ARCHIVED Can You Initionally Feel Worse?
Jenny (AZ via TX) replied to glutenfreegirl's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I actually felt pretty good the first 2 weeks after going gluten free (although at the time I wasn't totally gluten-free since it was in one of my supplements). Then after about 2 months or so, I'm feeling very tired. I am extremely careful about being gluten-free (changed out the pots and pans, etc). I still get headaches too. But when I look back, I... -
ARCHIVED Quick, Easy, Tasty Bread
Jenny (AZ via TX) replied to Juliet's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Thanks for sharing. It sounds so good! I had basically just given up on bread, but this looks so easy to make and sounds so yummy. -
ARCHIVED Testing: Different Laboratories
Jenny (AZ via TX) replied to salomeh7's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My tests were done through Sonora Quest Labs. Probably because of insurance. I tested very positive on 3 of the 4 tests they did. -
ARCHIVED Retarded Blue Shield
Jenny (AZ via TX) replied to holdthegluten's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I had also heard that as long as you didn't let the coverage lapse in between coverages, you were fine. When I had switched coverage (before celiac) from my work to my husband's, I had several tests at an ENT. I had to send proof that my coverage had never lapsed. After that I had no problems. -
ARCHIVED Ground Beef & Turkey
Jenny (AZ via TX) replied to cymrudenver's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Richard, thank you. This will be one less thing I have to call on! -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Cosmetics/shampoo/etc?
Jenny (AZ via TX) replied to leadmeastray88's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I love these products! I use the shampoo and conditioner, the blemish stick, and the lotions. I get mine at my local health food store. It's a lot cheaper than Whole Foods. So, if you want to try this line, check the smaller health food stores. They are about 1/2 the price of Whole Foods. -
ARCHIVED Questions About Make-up
Jenny (AZ via TX) replied to Vickie Bedford's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi Tracy, Would you ask your sister if there are any other gluten Clinique products? Thanks. -
ARCHIVED Allergy Re-testing?
Jenny (AZ via TX) replied to Jenny (AZ via TX)'s topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Amy, How are they doing the test? Is it a blood test or skin prick? I think there are other kinds too. Just curious. -
ARCHIVED Allergy Re-testing?
Jenny (AZ via TX) replied to Jenny (AZ via TX)'s topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thanks for the info. I will pass on the testing. Anything to save me from getting a needle in my arm! -
ARCHIVED Eating At Souper! Salad - Tonight 8/2
Jenny (AZ via TX) replied to Live2BWell's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
How did your dinner go at Souper Salad? I don't eat out a lot unless I know it has a gluten free menu. Do they have a gluten-free menu or did you just stick with the fresh veggies and fruits. Were croutons and such located separate from the food? I'm always looking for new places to go. Hope you had a great dinner. -
ARCHIVED Soy Intolerance
Jenny (AZ via TX) replied to GlutenFreeAl's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Do olive, sesame or almond have high flashpoints? I've been using a lot of canola. Thanks. -

ARCHIVED Allergy Re-testing?
Jenny (AZ via TX) posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi everyone. I had allergy tests (including food) done 2 years ago. This was before I was diagnosed with Celiac (both blood work and biopsy). I had chronic sinus infections, post nasal drip, dizziness, etc. None of the foods came back as allergies. Wouldn't wheat have come back positive? The only things positive were cedar, ragweed (well outside stuff... -
ARCHIVED Day #2 Gluten Free
Jenny (AZ via TX) replied to Live2BWell's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Jessica, I felt the same way at first. I was very lethargic. Also, I was hungry, especially since I didn't really know what I could eat. I was afraid to eat at first. I always had bananas in the house. Such a safe food and loaded with potassium. You are lucky that you found this forum so early into your treatment! There are so many great ideas,... -
ARCHIVED Help! Coated Tongue?
Jenny (AZ via TX) replied to Jenny (AZ via TX)'s topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Collette, I take my probiotics as soon as I wake up. How long do you wait before you eat? I usually wait about an hour. Is that enough? Thanks. -
ARCHIVED Help! Coated Tongue?
Jenny (AZ via TX) replied to Jenny (AZ via TX)'s topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thanks for the advice on the apple cyder vinegar. I was taking it everyday (1 tablespoon mixed with some apple juice) and just recently stopped. I had read it was good for PH balance as well as heartburn. I stopped taking it, but will start again. Also, the coating is just about gone! I started brushing my tongue more with my toothbrush which seems... -

ARCHIVED A New Weight Loss Support/accountability Thread
Jenny (AZ via TX) replied to lonewolf's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I weighed in this morning. Yikes! I'm off to a good start though, well pretty good. Banana for breakfast (must have lost my appetite after the weigh in). For lunch, 2 corn tortillas with a little bit of cheese and some Rosarita Traditional no fat refried beans (with some Pace Picante mixed in). Really good! I have beans left over for another day. Also... -
ARCHIVED Help! Coated Tongue?
Jenny (AZ via TX) replied to Jenny (AZ via TX)'s topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
ShayFL, The one I take has 24 billion CFU. Previously, I was taking acidophilus Pearls by Enzymatic Therapy. This is not the same as Enzymedica that people have had problems with. Anyway, it only had 1 billion CFU. I started taking the new one when my tongue got coated. I'll reduce it when I'm back to normal. I do not have any adverse side effects... -

Thanks for the warm welcome and the tips. I will weigh in on Friday. I have a lunch tomorrow with some friends at this great Cuban restaurant that actually has the best gluten-free menu. Come Friday morning, I will weigh in and go from there. I'm actually excited to be starting this. I've even thought about having my thyroid checked. It's always... -
ARCHIVED Help! Coated Tongue?
Jenny (AZ via TX) replied to Jenny (AZ via TX)'s topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Carla, Good point to consider. We both take probiotics. Hubby is actually a health fanatic! He's been taking probiotics for years. I'm still hoping this isn't yeast. I'm going to go get a tongue scraper and see what happens. -
ARCHIVED I Didn't Have Any Symptoms
Jenny (AZ via TX) replied to Green Eyes's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
What do you mean by "strawberries"? I thought all fruit was gluten-free. -
ARCHIVED Help! Coated Tongue?
Jenny (AZ via TX) replied to Jenny (AZ via TX)'s topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I love garlic and will be adding more to my diet. We're having garlic shrimp this weekend. The tips are great! My tongue is just barely coated, so hopefully it will be back to normal. It doesn't feel weird and I don't have bad breath from it. I just don't like it. Which Renew Life probiotics are you taking? Which ones did you start with? I...
