  1. Shopping DOES get easier. The first time I went shopping, I totally wasn't aware of what I was in for. I got there, all excited about my new adventure - and intstead, I wanted to burst out crying becuase the store was crowded, I was completly unsure, and people were giving me the evil eye for holding them up. Yea, it was no exciting adventure, it was more...
  2. Awe, I totally understand what you are saying. It's always hard when one person in a relationship is sick, when the other isn't. I have been with my partner for over two and a half years, the majority of our relationship I haven't been very healthy - and after two years, I was diagnosed with Diabetes,Hashimotos Thyroiditis, Celiac Disease... The celiac threw...
  3. This is a great thread! This will be my first gluten free holiday as well, luckily I have great leeway over what I cook/eat because I don't really go to anyone's house for Thanksgiving, my partner and I have Thanksgiving together. I'll be certain to look over some of these recipes!
  4. Have you had your fasting blood glucose tested? Also, have you ever been diagnosed with TMJD/TMJ? I have TMJ, and if I dont wear my nightguard regularly, my head/eye/sinus symptoms are increased ten fold. The thirst is what struck me in your post which is why I asked about having your fasting blood sugar tested. (( Hugs )) Hang in there...
  5. I sent you a reply to the pm you sent me I encourage you to check out the links on my page. Take care!
  6. I have been through the run around with the thyroid problems, as you know.. It looks like you might have a slight thyroid issue, but I can't say for sure (I am so confused with all the thyroid stuff myself!) To learn more about thyroid issues, a great website is Open Original Shared Link (( Hugs ))
  7. Wow,thank you so much for sharing that! I think maybe I'll take your idea and appologize to my body, because it's certainly in need of one (and I am in need of some self forgiveness!) I too have comitted myself to taking better care of my body, no excuses... Life's too short, and too beautiful. ((( Shay )))
  8. I struggled with an eating disorder for 12 years; First and foremost, if you are struggling and are not getting help, get help as soon as you can. Eating disorders are nothing to mess around with, and they are best dealt with before they get way out of hand. Trust me on that one. Anyway, I have been recovered for about three years; about a year into...
  9. I hope so
  10. I too get extremely sore joints when I eat gluten. Unfortunately, eating gluten sets off the autoimmune response, and since I am diagnosed with Hashimotos Thyroiditis and Fibromyalgia (and lastly, Celiac) I have to be really conscientous! I did want to mention that just because your ANA comes back negative, does not mean you don't have another autoimmune...
  11. Well I think that depends... For me, eating gluten again really sucked. During Hurricane Ike, and up until yesterday, I have had a horrible time trying to stay gluten free because resources were so scarce (electricity, grocery stores, etc.) So for a three week-ish period, I had been glutened quite a bit, despite my best efforts. Towards the end...
  12. That was a very interesting article! Thanks for posting it !! P.S. I also second the Thyroid testing; It's well worth it!! My thyroid had always been on the higher end of "normal" - but eventually came to find out that was only because my thyroid was not completely destroyed yet from the Hashimotos Thyroiditis (autoimmune thyroid condition.)
  13. I have RLS also; I have noticed that being gluten free helps tremendously with RLS; I have also found that when my Hashimotos flares up (autoimmune thyroid disorder) then my RLS gets much worse. Interesting topic!
  14. Hi Everyone! It's a complete disaster over here, ok, it was a disaster. It's slowly getting better, but slow is the operative word. Today makes 7 days no electric or hot water, and for my zip code they are now saying it may be next Thursday before it's restored (A friend of mine has electricity) The city is starting to get up and running again, I...
  15. I just wanted to send (( Hugs )) to those in Ike's path (waving hello from Houston, myself) Stay safe, it's bad so far and hasn't even hit Take care!
  16. Hi There (( Hugs )) As you can tell, you are certainly not alone. I have had a couple of grocery shopping experiences where I thought I was going to either break down in tears, or have the worlds largest anxiety attack I am reletively new to being gluten free, so I understand how difficult of an adjustment it is. I can tell you though, with complete...
  17. I am on 100mcg of Synthroid for my Hashimotos, and I have heard about Adrenal Fatigue and natural adrenal suppliments. They never tested my cortisol levels or anything related to my adrenals, and according to my bloodwork my thyroid levels are in normal range. My next doctor appointment is October 1st, and for now he wants me to sit tight. I still feel blah...
  18. I've was diagnosed less than a month ago, and I have been Gluten Free since. While I am feeling significantly better, I am also struggling to cope. For those of you seasoned gluten-free'ers, can you share your early coping experiences? Like I said, I am feeling MUCH better, and I AM optimistic, I'm just overwhelmed
  19. LoL ~ I just sent you an email about this very same thing. Yup, I very much empathize, and I am enjoying being your second set of eyes on this post
  20. When they test your thyroid make sure they test your Free T3, Free T4, your Thyroid Antibodies, AND your TSH (many doctors don't test TSH, and assume that if your thyroid tests are ok that your TSH must be okay, which is so not true!); I went to several doctors just having the regular T4 and T3 uptake tests done, and my thyroid levels were mildly off, I was...
  21. When I was younger my mom used to give me mineral oil - the texture is kind of ick, it is tasteless and odorless though, but it did work
  22. My friend is having us over in a couple of weeks and is making gluten free pizza (especially for me) and she wants suggestions for homeade pizza crust. What is the best, and tasty, flour to use for a gluten free homeade pizza crust?
  23. Don't quote me on this, but doesn't gestational diabetes usually go away once you have the baby? I would certainly get re-tested; Some things that will help you to maintain your weight (or gaining it) is using oil in much of your cooking, eating avacados, or peanut butter (both are 'good fats'); Certainly, though, losing weight at any alarming rate...
  24. Interesting about the dreams ... I've had a few dreams about gluttenous foods and woke up thinking how strange It's kind of nice to know this is a common thing
  25. I too am new to diagnosis and being gluten free (a couple of weeks now.) I too have improved significantly - so much so I can tell if I have been accidentally glutened. I am also on the constipated side, and I also get that burning sensation in my stomach. Overall things have improved in a very short period of time, I think a lot of it is just about the...
