i broke down and bought a cereal today that contains oat flour. the box says wheat free but not gluten free. i havnt actually eatin any of it yet, it was a spur of the moment thing that i kind of regret. it was just too tempting becuz the gluten free cereal selection is horrible!! and i really miss my cereal in the morning!! do any of you eat oats...

what i'm confused about is, if i were simply gluten intolerant wouldnt my symptoms almost immedietly go away after i quit consuming gluten?? becuz if i dont have celiac disease then there shouldnt be intestinal damage. but i have been off for 5 weeks and still having major problems. so it leads me to believe i iether have celiac disease, or am still... -

i finally went to my doctor apt. yesterday and she told me to stay off dairy for 1 more month until my follow up visit. but she said i need to take a calcium suppliment. can any of you who arent on dairy suggest a good one? i'm nervous about taking supplements that may contain gluten. she told me to take tums....but i know they do contain gluten -

i agree with the above post!! since becoming gluten free i have been using a lot more kraft products then i used to. its nice to know i can just glance throgh the ingredient list for wheat and not have to wonder about natural flavors, spices, etc!!! yay for kraft!!! -

i dont think i will need to bother introducing dairy back into my diet. I am 1 week dairy free and i havnt felt this good in a long long time. i have been using a non dairy creamer and fake cheese with milk proten and they havnt bothered me. i will officialy go to the doctor this week and have a test to see if i am lactose intolerent. but until then i wont... -

today i found two cheeses that are completely dairy free. i havnt tried them yet but i did read the ingredients. it looks like real cheese and says on the package that it melts like real cheese. the brands are Tofurella and veganrella. i will try them soon...and let you all know how it is. -

i feel for you about the cheese issue. i am also doing the elemination diet, just with dairy. i bought almond cheese yesterday and it tasted a bit odd but enough like cheese to fill the void, and then low and behold, i check the ingredients and casein is listed. do all cheese substutes add casein?? it would be terrible if you could'nt even have fake... -

thanks for your advice jaycee!! that was really helpful! i'm beginning to think milk may be the main culprit in my constipation issue. for two days i switched to soy lattes in the morning, but today i went back to milk....and am now back to square 1. the next week i will be increasing my fruit veggie intake even more so and cutting dairy all... -

before i knew about my gluten intolerence i bought a bottle of tums and was eating them like candy and i was so messed up that i went to the doctor that week!!! so i am guessing NOT gluten free!! -

thanks for replying brenda. my subject title got messed up here and i can edit it it should be " a question about dairy and soy" anyway many people have mentioned cutting dairy for the first month. i will try that for awhile and if that doesnt help i might try cutting out soy. -

i would love to know where you people are finding gluten free bagels!!!! i took my son to the bagel shop the other day and my mouth was watering. he felt bad that i couldnt have one!! -
as many others have suggested try tinkyada pasta! i made a lasagne the other night and it was sooooo good. my son had no idea anything was different about it!! for asian dishes try tai kitchen. they have a lot of curry sauces and mixes that are gluten free. in time this will get easier!! when you start feeling better you will realize that its worth...

thanks for the reply. i 'm going to cut back on dairy this week and try to eat smaller meals. the one thing i havnt really checked is hair care products and makeup. i do know the hair gel i use has wheat in it...but i wash my hands right away after using it. it was really expensive...and i cant really afford to replace these things at the moment. i did... -

i have 3 right now!! bob's red mill bread mix: i hadn't been able to find gluten-free bread since ive gone on this diet so i decided to attempt to make some tonight. i was very nervous considering i have never made bread in my life!! i thought for sure it would be a disaster , or wouldnt even taste like bread. But, i made it and it turned out great...
